At least Berkeley PD offers its officers two ways to defend themselves in terms of one shotgun and one rifle per car. Shotgun left, long rifle right.

[This post has taken over a week to write because of the serious conflicts I feel when putting fingers to keyboard on what, to me, is a deeply disturbing topic.]

As a recently-retired law enforcement officer from two venues, federal and local, who served 41 years on the job, I am a Sheepdog, I am an Oathkeeper, I am a Silverback, and I am disgusted with the reaction — or the lack of reaction — once again — from the City of Berkeley Police Department (CA) with regard to the Saturday, April 15th riots ostensibly the result of a demand for the revelation of President Trump’s tax records.

This was nothing more than an excuse to riot, and nothing more than another reason for Antifa to corral its paid members once again in order to appear at a specific event. These are not local “protesters,” ladies and gentlemen. These are George Soros-paid, nomadic rioters who do the bidding of Antifa and anarchists across the nation. The faces begin to repeat. The difference, this time, was that pro-Trump members were present as well.

The Berkeley Police Department needs to be — again — named and shamed, as well as Chief Andrew Greenwood, City of Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin and the UC Berkeley Police Department Chief Margo Bennett. This is the same Chief Margo Bennett who had her gun, badge, laptop, credentials, iPad and other very personal items recently stolen from her official government vehicle. Charges? Discipline made public? Of course not. She willingly carries political water for Leftists.

They were and are in collusion to step away from situations that they know, full well, will likely lead to violence on the UC Berkeley campus and in the city. This is entirely despicable.

First the background, from the UKDailyMail.com:

Anti-Trump protest turns into a massive brawl: Twenty one are arrested after hundreds of Tax Day protesters trade punches with Donald supporters in Berkeley

by Abigail Miller

  • A ‘Patriots Day’ rally was held in support of President Donald Trump in Berkeley, California Saturday

  • It coincided with thousands who marched across the country to pressure  Trump to release his his Tax returns

  • The protest turned violent as counter-protesters showed up and both sides broke through netting

  • Hundreds threw stones, lit fires, tossed explosives and tear gas and attacked with makeshift weapons

  • Police stood by through the violence and at least 15 people have been arrested due to violence in Berkeley

Please note that last bullet point. Police stood by.

At least 21 people have been arrested after violence broke out Saturday between groups of Trump supporters and detractors holding rallies in downtown Berkeley, according to police.

Hundreds of people with opposing opinions on President Donald Trump threw stones, lit fires, tossed explosives and tear gas and attacked each other with makeshift weapons as police stood by.

As police stood by.

Berkeley PD’s mission statement reads as follows:

Our Mission is to safeguard our diverse community through proactive law enforcement and problem solving, treating all people with dignity and respect.

The Berkeley Police Department’s Vision is: We will be a team of leaders at every level.  We will foster strong relationships with our community, inspiring trust through our service, building on our historic tradition of progressive policing, and dedicated to the safety of all.  As members of this community, we will provide proactive law enforcement and problem solving, holding these as our core values:

Integrity: We are ethical, fair, and trustworthy in all we do.

Safety: We strive to keep our community and each other safe.

Berkeley PD also has a “Protest 101” link on its site.

Welcome to Protest 101

Protest 101 is a guide to assist anyone interested in organizing or participating in a safe and legal protest, march, demonstration, rally or labor action in the City of Berkeley.

During demonstrations, protest marches, public rallies or labor actions, the Berkeley Police Department is responsible for providing for the safety and security of the general public, while both monitoring and facilitating any peaceful demonstration.

Berkeley PD swears it provides safety and security for the general public during protests.

Here are the — there is no other word for it — riots that occurred April 15th, Saturday.

The situation devolving. No police around. “We will provide proactive law enforcement.”

No police around. “We will provide proactive law enforcement.”

No police around. “We will provide proactive law enforcement.” As CNN even admits, “we have been watching these pictures for some time now.” Translated: where are the police?

An Antifa woman got punched. She’s no “local.” She admits it was a six hour drive for her.

Violence should come as no surprise to her. She was already speaking and writing about advocating violence.

No police around. “We will provide proactive law enforcement.”

As the man in the video stated, to me it makes no difference. A woman can injure or kill you as easily as a man. When you attend an event expecting to create violence, be surprised not when violence is visited upon you. Antifa came mentally prepared for war, dressed for war, identities masked, armed for war, carrying metal poles on which flags were attached, possessing chemical weapons and M-80s, according to Antifa protocols. You can download an Antifa manual here.

Antifa by the way, should you care, is keeping a database of all your registered Disqus comments with your associated personal information. Gosh. Is BZ registered on Disqus? Uh, not just no but hell no.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Berkeley PD officers were busy sitting and standing next to their elderly Ford CVPI riot vehicles, buffing their nails, balancing their checkbooks or playing Angry Birds . How do I know this is a riot vehicle tasked with riot duty? Because otherwise you never put more than two officers in one car and simultaneously equip them with helmets, gear, long batons and filtered masks. Captain Obvious calling. A Leftist journalista named Shane Bauer (no relation to Jack) from Leftist rag Mother Jones walked up to the Berkeley PD officers in said tasked riot vehicle and asked questions. Frankly, they were excellent questions.

The answers and responses were both enlightening and yet vastly depressing.

It is important to note there are two entirely disparate responses from two officers here, and the body language is markedly different for widely divergent reasons. Paul Ekman taught me how to read body language in an interview/interrogation room, as did Carl Stincelli.

The standing officer says nothing. He is a cipher. The officer in the car responds, “that would be a good question for the Chief of Police.” He pulls up his left hand and lets it drop back on the sill. He is not happy to be where he is, on the sidelines. This is a highly conflicted officer, depressed yet resigned.

Officer Shannon, #120, standing, doesn’t like to be questioned and makes a referral to the department PIO. “What’s your next question?” You can see there is another Berkeley PD black-and-white unit in the background to the left. Waiting.

“Mmm-hmm. Okay. And?”

He couldn’t be more dismissive. The day’s events aren’t about the issue, it’s about him. Many, many factors here. Of these few seconds I can draw something of a conclusion.

What I sense is this: he is a veteran officer. After all the years of putting up with ever-changing administrations (Berkeley PD lost its last Chief, Michael Meehan, in September of 2016 amidst allegations of slow and poor decision-making, spending too much time on community actions outside the department, and being a deficient advocate and supporter of the officers overall: low morale.) and watching his department and his profession deteriorate before his very eyes. Is he really dismissive on its face, or is he truly disgusted? Is he tired of having to be another coprophagic Berkeley PD officer? In one sense, I can’t fault his demeanor.

This is Officer Jeff Shannon on a better day. Imagine having to work for Berkeley PD. Dude, you need a leader. Many leaders. You have none.

Here, a Berkeley PD sergeant stands back, knowing full well what’s occurring around him. Note the stripes. He is a supervisor. He was given an order. Clearly by his Lieutenant or his Captain, directly from the Chief of Police in Berkeley via, I suggest, its mayor.

He too is doing nothing. For, I submit, the same reasons as delineated above. However, the Nuremberg Defense does not apply. More on this later.

After watching these two videos, I wanted both to cry and to rip some administrator’s head off their shoulders. You can be certain — and never admitted — that Berkeley PD Chief Greenwood received a phone call from either the mayor or a mayoral subordinate to stand back unless absolutely necessary to intervene. There was also likely a Lieutenant or a Captain on site to determine just what would constitute “absolutely necessary.”

Yet, as the Berkeley PD officers stood by, this was occurring. Here, a Trump supporter got smashed in the head by an Antifa person with a large, heavy Kryptonite bicycle U-lock. Why? Because possession of a bike lock could easily be explained-away to cops by Antifa rioters. I had to be prepared to lock up my bicycle, after all. Right? Really? So what’s it doing in your hands instead of on your bicycle?

The person he struck was completely unarmed.

You can see the results. Only after the injured man was removed from the scene did the Berkeley Police Department even remotely become interested. This crime falls into and should be investigated as 245 PC, Assault With A Deadly Weapon. The bike lock. Felony.

Further, just who was the heavy bike-lock swinging individual? He was allegedly identified by a number of sources on the internet as an individual named Eric Clanton, who is employed as a professor for Diablo Valley College. Please check this site. The story is not over. Here is his photograph by which he may be compared to future violence.

More on the story of Eric Clanton.

Here, Antifa rioters, predominantly dressed in black with masks take, literally, a heavy skateboard — again, easily explained-away to local Berkeley PD cops as a form of transportation — to the head of a pro-Trump advocate.

Let there be no mistake. This wasn’t something of a “sudden and spontaneous” reaction to the “need” for President Trump to expose his tax records though no one — specifically the American Media Maggots — much cared about the issue intrinsically. It was simply an excuse to riot. Funded by anarchist George Soros.

Where were the riots regarding Obama’s failure to release college transcripts and records? Where were the riots regarding the failure to release IRS documents? The release of documents regarding James Foley’s aborted rescue mission? That’s just the tip of the Leftist iceberg. I term that Historical Alzheimers.

Berkeley’s stand-away orders were documented here.

Is this truly how you wish to be remembered, members of the City of Berkeley Police Department? Because, as of this point, this is your collective and individual legacy. Your history is such that you already stood down when Milo Yiannopoulos came to speak. You want to be known as nothing more than an infantile internet photo and meme? How callow and dismissive can you be? Where are your testicles?

As in: you dishonored your oaths, you stood by whilst people were injured, you weren’t simply not proactive; you weren’t even interested in being reactive for a time. There have already been three Antifa riots at Berkeley this year.

As opposed to Berkeley PD, here are cops with actual balls, who insisted on unmasking Antifa protesters at Auburn University in Alabama, recently.

Take a note, Berkeley PD.

Yet even so, Auburn officers were seriously negligent. Did you not hear the clank of a flag pole? The officers allowed a heavy metal pole into the event, saying “get your pole”? The heavy clank of metal is called a clue. That is a significant weapon. Do. Your. Jobs.

We are coming closer to a bottom line. What is one of its aspects?

Americans are left to fight it out on the streets of the United States as law enforcement officers are either forced to or willingly allow violence to occur directly in front of their eyes.

As an aside; an examination of body language at the Berkeley riots by a female member of society.

Interesting take on the situation from an uninvolved third party.

A few unresolved issues remain.

Were official Berkeley PD munitions fired only at Trump supporters?

Was Berkeley PD therefore supporting Antifa violence?

The Chief of Berkeley PD Greenwood has already spewed political bullshite. Of course, to be expected.

What about the Mayor of Berkeley? Breitbart.com indicates he may be a sympathizer of the groups that organized the riots in the first place.

Berkeley Mayor Is Member of Antifa Facebook Group that Organized Riots

by Tom Ciccotta

Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin is a member of the anti-fascist Facebook group, By Any Means Necessary, which orchestrated the riots that occurred ahead of a scheduled lecture by Milo Yiannopoulos.

BAMN. Are you simultaneously shocked and non-plussed?

Berkley Mayor Jesse Arreguin was revealed to be a member of the anti-fascist group, By Any Means Necessary (BAMN), on Facebook. BAMN orchestrated the violence that shut down a scheduled lecture at UC Berkeley featuring Milo Yiannopoulos in early 2017. Arreguin is allegedly also friends with BAMN leader, Yvette Felarca, on Facebook.

They were also involved in the violent clashes earlier this month.

You’ll love this additional bit of buttery goodness from, of all least-quoted sources, TheBlaze.com:

Antifa wants combat training and firearms after losing the ‘Battle for Berkeley’

Last week supporters of President Donald Trump clashed with members of the leftist group known as Antifa (short for anti-fascist) in Berkeley California. The meeting of the two groups soon erupted in violence, with Antifa using mace, M80’s, and various other weapons to attack Trump supporters.

According to Rebel Media’s Lauren Southern, Trump supporters were told by police not to bring any weapons, as police would protect them. Upon Anitfa’s arrival, the police retreated, leaving the Trump supporters to utilize whatever weapons they could get their hands on. Regardless, the Trump supporters routed Antifa after one of their members threw a smoke bomb, not realizing the wind was blowing in Antifa’s direction.

This loss prompted Antifa members to begin discussion about how they could better prepare themselves for future skirmishes against Trump supporters.

Perfect. “Better prepare themselves.”

Here is where I draw the line. Perhaps you have been waiting for this. Because it’s all I have left.

Truly, whether or not the mayor issued an order to stand down from his office to Berkeley Police Chief Greenwood is pretty much immaterial. And whether or not Berkeley Police Chief Greenwood issued a sub rosa order to his Captains and Lieutenants to stand down is also mostly immaterial. (I still believe both of those things to be accurate, however.)

Do you know why?

Because the real power, the true power of any law enforcement agency rests in the hands of two people, two archetypes: 1) Its Training Officers, and 2) Its Sergeants or first-line supervisors.

First line supervisors can make or break each and every department for which they work. Why? Because they not only relay but are tasked with enforcing the policies and orders issued by their specific departments, the state in which they reside and the oaths they took to support and defend the US Constitution and its Bill of Rights, with those they supervise.

You and I both know and can instantly recall bosses who were, on one hand, absolute garbage and those whom we respected and honored. We can all name names. We never forget.

Your best bosses were four things:

  • Firm;
  • Fair;
  • Consistent, and
  • They praised in public, reprimanded in private. Then they moved on.

Translated to cop work, a grizzled old Sergeant once told my young ass that I’d have a successful, productive and satisfying career if I did these three things:

  • Do your job;
  • Tell the truth, and
  • Don’t be malicious.

These are the bosses you would waltz straight into Hell standing beside, working for, because they inspired you, inspired confidence, trust and loyalty. They had your six.

I found out early: the more I treated my troops like adults, the more they responded like adults. I watched: the more people were micromanaged — myself included — the less inclined they were to make decisions, stand on their own two feet, take charge or be independent. I wanted the job to get done. I knew with that the morale would be good.

I would consistently tell my troops: give me every reason to support you and I will. Lie to me, undermine me or fail to do your job and it won’t be pretty. For all of those reasons and more I had people who always wanted to work for me. I didn’t play favorites. I expected people to work. When the job got done they could be people. We could have fun. We could laugh. Job first, though. And I would grant you perks.

I would also speechify my new Lieutenants, who were legion in my career. They didn’t speechify me, I speechified them. My job was to look out for them and tell them what they didn’t want to hear, but what they needed to hear no matter the circumstances. My job, I told them, was to provide them with as much information as necessary to answer, to the best of their ability, questions posed to them by Captains. I never wanted them to be caught flat-footed. When they were caught wanting I was caught wanting. Not optimal. Many disbelieved what I told them. They were the ones proven wrong. I didn’t possess decades of experience under my belt for nothing.

That said, a Good Sergeant is one who looks out for his or her troops, values the troops and knows full well that it is they who truly get the job done, not the Chief and not the Sheriff. Chiefs and Sheriffs come and go like soiled toilet paper, flushed down the political Toilet of Life.

That said, I also told my troops this: if it is politically or fiscally expedient, you will be sacrificed. I would watch their six but they had to watch their own six. If they produced. If they worked. If they were honest. I told them genuinely: never adore your department because it will never adore you back. Be realistic. But be true.

That’s what a Good Sergeant does. That’s what a Sheepdog does. That’s what a Silverback does. That’s what an Oathkeeper does.

I once had a deputy who was a great worker but who strayed. He got into trouble. I never once reprimanded in public. I took him aside. All I had to do is tell him that I was disappointed in him. I could see the tears welling. He changed and got back on track.

That’s what a Good Sergeant does, and how effective a Good Sergeant can be.

Where were the Good Sergeants working for Berkeley PD? Because, trust me, in a similar circumstance, knowing people were getting hurt in front of me — no matter what my fucktard managers or executive staff said — I would have intervened.

And my troops would have followed me. Now you know why.

Once one element was committed, my element, the others would have followed suit because someone took a stand and waded into the maelstrom.

Sure, as cops we all know what the Ferguson Effect is. Proactive law enforcement has plummeted for obvious reasons.

But for fuck’s sake, if we can’t even be reactive when violence exists right in front of our faces, then why do we even exist? Why did we go to work that day?

You Sergeants could have made a difference. You know who you are. So do your troops.

Managers manage things. Leaders lead people.

Yes, your career could suffer. You might not promote. I didn’t. I was told that directly to my face, because I had ethics in the face of dishonesty. Those are stories for another day. That’s why I was called Sergeant and not Lieutenant or Captain. That’s what my badge read. The one under which I retired.

But, as I’ve always said, it gets down to: can you sleep at night?

I sleep like a baby.

Berkeley PD Sergeants: how are you sleeping these nights?

Jihadist Guns Down Policeman, Wounds Two, in Paris

Islamic terrorists have claimed 238 lives in France since 2015

by Lloyd Billingsley

Abu Yusuf, known to French police for radical Islamic activities, opened fire with a Kalashnikov in Paris Thursday, killing a police officer near a subway station and leaving two others gravely wounded.

Yusuf emerged from an Audi, witnesses told reporters, took out an automatic rifle and fired six shots at police before hiding behind a truck. When he fled, French police shot him dead. French President Francois Holland’s suspicions of a terrorism were confirmed when ISIS claimed one of their fighters was responsible. The killing of the officer was at least the sixth Islamic terrorist attack in Paris during the last three years.

“Timing is everything,” it is said, because this attack came just two days before a critical French vote where Marine Le Pen — a proponent of leaving the EU, not a friend to mass migration and a strident supporter of French sovereignty — is vying to become the 25th president of France following François Hollande.

From the UKDailyMail.com:

Outsiders Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen sweep to victory as France kicks out old guard: Europhile newcomer narrowly wins first vote to take on far-Right’s Madame Frexit for the presidency

  • Far-right leader Marine Le Pen and independent centrist Emmanuel Macron have made it to the second round

  • 36.7million voted, a turnout of 78.2 per cent; Macron won 23.9 per cent of the vote, Le Pen 21.4

  • Republican candidate Francois Fillon conceded after initial results showed he achieved 19.5 per cent of vote

  • Far-left leader Jean-Luc Melenchon refused to concede until final results of first-round vote announced

  • France’s Prime Minister, Bernard Cazeneuve, has called on voters to support Macron instead of Le Pen

  • This is the first time in 60 years none of France’s mainstream parties have entered the second round

  • Riots broke out in Nantes and Paris’ Place de la Bastille – the birthplace of the French Revolution

As illustrated above, the election was stunning insofar as it appears to somewhat replicate what happened last November in the US. “This is the first time in 60 years none of France’s mainstream parties have entered the second round.” And: riots broke out after the voting.

French voters turned their backs on the political establishment last night in round one of the presidential election.

Emmanuel Macron – an independent centrist – won first place ahead of National Front leader Marine Le Pen.

The result will have major implications for Britain and its departure from the EU.

Miss Le Pen wants to completely renegotiate France’s relationship with Brussels while Mr Macron wants closer links.

In essence what occurred is this: voters completely held moderation at arms’ length and instead went for polarity.

According to France’s Interior Ministry, 46 million people voted in the first stage of the elections which knocked the traditional Right and Left parties out of the running for the first time in 60 years.

With 97 per cent of the vote counted, Macron achieved 23.9 per cent, followed by Le Pen on 21.4. A total of 36.7million voted, a turnout of 78.2 per cent.

But it is thought that Le Pen’s chances of winning the second round are limited as supporters for Republican candidate Francois Fillon, who conceded but has gained 19.9 per cent of the votes, will support Macron.

The next round of elections, a face-off between Le Pen and Macron, will occur on Sunday, May 7th.

What’s at stake is nothing less than the very existence of the entire European Union and the survival of Western civilization in Europe. I fear this is no overstatement in the slightest.

A continuation of France’s current policies regarding Islam are capitulist in nature as are the policies of the EU in general. Terror attacks will continue and the erosion of secularism, much less any other form of religion save Islam will be unabated. Demography will become prophecy and more French citizens will continue to be killed because of a weak French state. Muslims will push for more and greater rights to the exclusion of French law and the encroaching systemic demand for Sharia law.

Simultaneously the EU will be further weakened and its various cultures eroded whilst their streets will continue to burn and its citizens will continue to be killed at the hands of Islamists.

Already, in Germany, Merkel’s “populist foes” are seen to “be in disarray.” And though Merkel has allowed over one million Muslim migrants into Germany since 2015, the numbers have since dropped and “populist” enthusiasm is waning and the AfD party has suffered a political defeat.

That said, I believe that the UK will continue with Brexit and — luckily for the UK — geography is such that the English Channel separates it from the rest of Europe, as the Atlantic luckily separate us from Europe and other continents. Sharing a border with Mexico is sufficiently corrosive, thank you.

May 7th will be a pivotal point for France and the European Union.

Your infant is racist http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/your-infant-is-racist/ http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/your-infant-is-racist/#comments Sun, 23 Apr 2017 09:28:14 +0000 http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/?p=28274 Continue reading ]]> First you thought your toaster was racist.
Now you discover your infant is racist. What to do?

From the UKDailyMail.com.

Is YOUR baby racist? Scientists find six-to nine-month-old infants demonstrate bias in favor of members of their own race and against others

by Stacy Libertore

  • Two studies found 6- to 9-month-old infants showed racial-based bias
  • Found babies associate same race faces with happy music and others with sad
  • Also are more inclined to take cues from adults of their race than other races
  • Experts said this is because most babies are only exposed to their own race

It has been believed that children developed race-based bias during their preschool years, but a new study has suggested it starts much earlier.

Following a series of studies, researchers have discovered that six- to nine-month-old infants demonstrated racial bias in favor of members of their own race and bias against those of other races.

The findings are said to be a result of the overwhelming exposure infants have to their own race, and experts have warned it is wise to introduce children to people from a variety of races before the issues deepen.

There are now classes entitled “Reversing Your Baby’s Racism.”

Let’s watch Tucker Carlson interview Dr Kang Lee of the University of Toronto.

Carlson does what I call the Logical Extension, particularly with regard to how Leftists and an overbearing government are going to address what they perceive to be a major issue such as this. Studies like these will be used to justify an entirely new paradigm in terms of infant racial identification, norming, mainstreaming, and requirements for parent(s)** to comply with same.

Continuing with the Logical Extension, I submit this will lead to what I term “stairstepping” insofar as, by a certain age, an infant of two months must be exposed to ______. An infant of six months must be exposed to ______. A one-year-old must be exposed to ______ and so on. Think: California’s SB 18.

Let me guess. Such immersion won’t be mandated on behalf of any parent(s) other than Caucasoids. Because, after all, no one but Caucasoids can be racists.

The only sure way to ensure compliance is to create an entirely new bureaucracy with its concomitant mandatory monitoring, verifiable documentation and subsequent submission with training check-off lists approved by government bureaucrats, requiring its own unique and extended national database. States cannot be trusted with this. It must be federal. It’s for the children, you see.

Trust me, oh trust me, the Leftists are rubbing their hands over this one. They can’t wait.

Clearly, my toilet must be racist, as well as my sink. What about the walls of my house?

Racist.

Hand me that sledgehammer.

It better not be white. Think of the implications.

BZ

** It would be racist, sexist and overall genderist/parentist of me to think that the raising of a child in anything other than a single-parent household is better or any way slightly more beneficial than that of aforementioned single parent.

I see the error of my ways.

Like a bad Michelin truck tire with no side sipes, I must be sent in for mental re-grooving.

Brownlee, a law enforcement officer in Colorado, had his life cut short on duty by a carjacker on November 23rd of 2010. He was disarmed in a physical confrontation, shot three times and killed by the suspect. He left behind a wife and children. One son was named Tanner Brownlee, who was 15 when his father was slain.

His father’s actual patrol vehicle, the one he specifically drove, subsequently came up for auction in 2015.

The son wanted to purchase the car in order to keep the memory of his father alive as long as possible.

Then something brilliant occurred.

This is called humanity.

This is called the goodness of people.

What a stellar display. One man paid $60,000 for a car worth $12,500 with 147,000 miles on the odometer, and then turned the keys over to the son, Tanner Brownlee, of the fallen officer.

That man was Steve Wells, a rancher, who’d made money from oil drilling on his property yet knew hard times as he was adopted himself.

“It never crossed my mind not to,” Wells said. “I wanted to hand the keys to that young man.”

Wells is a man who embodies America. A man who instills hope. Because he himself had no real father but was not aborted.

When Wells learned of the special auction of the fallen deputy’s retired patrol car, he knew he found a perfect opportunity to give back in a big way.

“Here was a man who lost his life as a deputy sheriff for the people of Weld County,” Wells said. “His son wanted something to remember his dad by and the fact that that young man could sit behind the wheel of that car and look through the windshield that his dad did was extremely important to me. It was just something I felt I had to do.”

It was time, he thought, to pay it forward.

“When the auction was over and I walked up and I handed him those keys. That is a lifetime moment. It was for him and it was for me,” Wells said. “That was a moment that, for me, meant everything.”

People insist we’re not an exceptional nation.

US: going to war? http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/us-going-to-war/ http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/us-going-to-war/#comments Tue, 18 Apr 2017 12:41:34 +0000 http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/?p=28311 Continue reading ]]> Is the United States going to war?

Probably not.

On the other hand, I cannot afford to be so readily dismissive or assumptive because, having been on the planet and a legal citizen of this nation in his seventh decade, I’ve not seen my country placed in such a dire and perilous predicament before from a prior president, Mr Obama, save that of James Earl Carter. Twin sons of different mothers.

Except that one at least possessed a modicum of service, obligation, sacrifice and discipline having served in the military. The one who gave away the Panama Canal and asked for criminal Marielitos to swamp Florida. Luckily we got over that. The Marielito part. Not at all the Panama Canal part. Which China is now attempting to completely control.

Let me reveal a very serious portion of the problem by way of video.

The most recent news. From alJazeera.com:

Kim Jong-un oversees display of N Korea military force

New long-range ballistic missiles on show during massive parade celebrating country’s founder as US armada approaches.

North Korea on Saturday displayed what appeared to be new long-range and submarine-based missiles at a massive military parade celebrating the 105th birth anniversary of the nation’s founding president, Kim Il-sung.

The parade, attended by leader Kim Jong-un, saw thousands of soldiers marching through the capital, Pyongyang.

Ah, the glorious and buttery goodness of a little, pudgy, four-eyed, psychotic, ass-slapped, cornholing, murdering dictator whose country can’t produce even one pane of glass without bubbles or ripples, much less adequately feed its people.

Weapons analysts said they believed some of the missiles on display were new types of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), enclosed in canister launchers mounted on the back of trucks.

Choe Ryong Hae – widely seen by analysts as North Korea’s second most important official – said US President Donald Trump was guilty of “creating a war situation” by dispatching US forces to the region.

“We will respond to an all-out war with an all-out war and a nuclear war with our style of a nuclear attack,” said Choe.

Then there was the global ridicule of Kim Jong Un by his own people when, on his most proud day, the missile he attempted to launch simply blew up. Bummer, dude. Some believe that, like Russia in the 60s, some of the Pudge’s missiles may have been nothing more than but mock-ups.

From the SouthChinaMorningPost.com:

North Korean missile explodes in test launch day after Kim Jong-un showcases new ballistic arsenal

Hostilities in the region surge US President Donald Trump sends aircraft carrier-led strike group to the Korean peninsula

A fresh North Korean missile test failed when it exploded after launch Sunday, the US military said, a day after Pyongyang publicly showcased its ballistic arsenal at a giant military parade.

The failure, which is likely to be seen as something of an embarrassment for the regime, came amid soaring tensions in the region over the North’s nuclear weapons ambitions.

Stop. This is too good to pass up. How many — literally —  heads of North Korean military officials and scientists were conveniently lopped off because the Pudgy One was exposed to global embarrassment? Anyone? Bueller?

“Hey, at least I know how to take the binocular caps off.”

Unlike some personnel.

“The missile blew up almost immediately,” the US Defence Department said of the early morning launch which was also monitored by the South Korean military.

Neither was able to determine immediately what kind of missile was being tested.

It came a day after North Korea displayed nearly 60 missiles – including what is suspected to be a new intercontinental ballistic missile – at a parade to mark the 105th birthday of its founder Kim Il-sung.

The parade was held in front of the cameras of invited world media, who were still in Pyongyang when Sunday’s test failure was detected.

Oddly enough, following that, Kim Jong Un was primarily absent and primarily quiet. But was there more? Perhaps so. From the Sun.UK.com:

MISSION KIMPOSSIBLE

North Korea’s embarrassing missile launch failure may have been caused by US cyber attack as Donald Trump warns his military may ‘have no choice’ to strike the rogue nation

by Nick Parker

US agents may have infected the hi-tech electronics in Kim Jong-un’s rocket as Korean scientists fear tyrant’s wrath

NORTH Korea’s latest nuclear test missile exploded five seconds after launch yesterday because of an American cyber attack, experts believe.

They say US agents may have infected the hi-tech electronics in tyrant Kim Jong-un’s rocket with an undetectable virus that caused a massive malfunction.

Kim Jong Un has not yet acknowledged the missile’s explosion following his glorious parade. Instead he has doubled down on psychotic. From the BBC.com:

North Korea ‘will test missiles weekly’, senior official tells BBC

North Korea will continue to test missiles, a senior official has told the BBC in Pyongyang, despite international condemnation and growing military tensions with the US.

“We’ll be conducting more missile tests on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis,” Vice-Foreign Minister Han Song-ryol told the BBC’s John Sudworth.

He said that an “all-out war” would result if the US took military action.

Earlier, US Vice-President Mike Pence warned North Korea not to test the US.

He said his country’s “era of strategic patience” with North Korea was over. Mr Pence arrived in Seoul on Sunday hours after Pyongyang carried out a failed missile launch.

The USS Carl Vinson carrier group is already in the area; by April 25th the USS Ronald Reagan and the USS Nimitz carrier groups will likewise be in place in the Sea of Japan.

Tensions are high.

How did we get here?

We got here because of William Jefferson Clinton who, in 1994, made a “deal” with North Korea under then-dictator Kim Jong Il that, in exchange for $4 billion dollars, they would begin to dismantle their nuclear weapons development program. Here’s a shocker: they kept the cash and reneged on the deal. Didn’t see that one coming.

We got here because George W. Bush took North Korea off the “state sponsors of terrorism” list. Daft. Incomprehensible.

We got here because of Barack Hussein Obama and his “strategic patience.”

We got here because the planet observed how Obama decided to “deal” with Iran.

Russia, China, North Korea, they were all watching quite raptly.

Ben Rhodes Reveals How Obama Duped America Into The Dangerous Iran Deal

by David Reaboi

President Obama—with the help of an equally arrogant 38-year-old national security fabulist, Ben Rhodes—remade the Middle East to empower America’s most hated enemy.

There are few things in the world less popular in the United States than the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Under these conditions, Obama—with the help of an equally arrogant 38-year-old national security fabulist, Ben Rhodes (with whom he’s said to “mind-meld”)—succeeded in remaking the Middle East to empower America’s most hated enemy, the only United Nations member state committed to the annihilation of another state: the theocratic Islamic Republic of Iran.

But wait; it gets better.

As Rhodes explained to his bemused interviewer, David Samuels, in a New York Times Magazine profile this weekend, it was first necessary to lie to a corrupted and inexperienced American media about all sorts of things, beginning with the nature and intentions of the enemy Iranian regime. Subsequent lies were caked on, as the White House took advantage of a dangerous mix of journalists’ ignorance, their ideological and partisan commitment to the administration, and, finally, their career aspirations.

And better still.

Rhodes said, “The average reporter we talk to is 27 years old, and their only reporting experience consists of being around political campaigns… They literally know nothing.” Thus they will believe what he tells them. He also tells friendly non-governmental organizations and think tanks what he is telling the journalists. Those outlets produce “experts” whose expert opinion is just what Rhodes wants it to be. These ignorant young journalists thus have quotes that look like independent confirmation of the White House’s lies.

Remember, after all, new journalistas are educated at the feet of some of our proudest university intolerant Leftists under closed-circuit systems refusing to acknowledge the real world. Any given college campus today has absolutely nothing to do with the real world. The closer you get to any university campus, the greater the noise of the vacuum of brains from students. A mighty sucking sound.

Vice President Mike Pence, on tour this weekend in South Korea, straightened the Ship of State with regard to North Korea. The Obama Doctrine of “strategic patience” is now officially over.

Why won’t we go to war?

It would appear from many accounts that President Trump’s meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping on April 6th went quite well, despite the fact that Trump excused himself during dinner in order to approve a veritable metal hail of Tomahawk cruise missiles be rained down upon a base in Syria. President Trump sat back down with Jinping and had a fine dessert.

Originally scheduled for a series of three 15-minute private meetings between the two, these meetings extended to 2 to 3 hours. President Trump, with that action during a state dinner, sent three messages simultaneously to three serious nations: China, Russia and North Korea. Perhaps Iran and the Middle East as well.

  • I am not unlike Michael Corleone as I dine with you;
  • I have no problem with making geopolitical statements;
  • I am not Barack Hussein Obama.

Out of this meeting, for the first time in roughly 20 years, China has responded with regard to North Korea.

China has sent coal shipments back to North Korea. Instead, China decided to acquire coal shipments from the United States of America.

China has sent a flotilla of North Korean freighters loaded with coking coal back to their home ports, according to an exclusive Reuters report. Meanwhile, China has placed massive orders for the steel-making commodity from U.S. producers.

Hear any of that from the American Media Maggots? Of course you haven’t.

All you’ve heard is that President Trump can’t fix a thing.

Multiply geometrically. Mix to taste. Serve chilled. Rinse. Repeat.

Chicago’s great news: blacks are still shooting blacks http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/chicagos-great-news-blacks-are-still-shooting-blacks/ http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/chicagos-great-news-blacks-are-still-shooting-blacks/#comments Mon, 17 Apr 2017 23:25:08 +0000 http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/?p=28340 Continue reading ]]> And Rahm Emanuel gets paid no matter who gets killed.

Skin in the game? Nah.

So does Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, et al.

Skin in the game? Nah.

From the ChicagoTribune.com:

29 people shot in less than 18 hours in Chicago

by Elyssa Cherney

In the pouring rain, the 23-year-old man pulled a fur-lined hood over his head and stood on the porch of his younger brother’s home in the Douglas Park neighborhood early Sunday, watching police investigate the city’s first homicide of the weekend.

The man said he heard people arguing and throwing bottles at each other about 2:30 a.m. before the shots rang out. He said he went to check on what was happening three doors down but then stopped, retreated back.

“When I noticed the commotion, I headed the other direction,” he said, as he was getting ready to go to work as a truck driver. “There’s a reason for the rain. Only God knew this was going to happen.”

The fatal shooting of Tywan Anderson, 23, in the 1300 block of South Fairfield Avenue, half a block north of Mount Sinai Hospital, marked the only fatality among 29 people who were shot from Saturday to Sunday morning, officials said. Of the people shot, three were teenagers — ages 14, 15 and 17.

Woo-hoo. In the city with the strictest gun laws in the nation. How well they work. Wait. I have a great idea. Let’s make them even more constrictive. That will solve everything.

Even left-leaning TheAtlantic.com admits Chicago has a serious problem.

The problem is real: 762 people were murdered in Chicago last year, a stunning 58 percent jump in homicides from 2015. So large was the sharp, sudden increase in homicides in one of America’s largest cities that it tangibly raised the entire nation’s homicide rate higher for 2016. But nobody really knows why it’s happening.

Is that true? No one knows why it’s happening?

Even the data on one of the most obvious possible causes—a sudden shift in policing tactics—offers little clarity. Street stops had been in steady decline since early 2014, when they peaked at 80,000 stops per month. By October 2015, they reached 60,000 per month and then plummeted sharply to 10,000 stops by December 2015. At first glance, that would seem to correlate with the sudden surge of in 2016.

What are the reasons? Because, after all, even Time magazine admits violent crime is on the rise in major US cities all through the United States.

Breitbart writes, on the Easter violence in Chicago:

Despite the low death rate, the number of wounded for the holiday weekend has far exceeded that of the last three years.

While the focus has often been misplaced on the police in the Windy City, those killed in confrontations with cops is relatively low. For instance, in 2016, only four of the city’s 717 shooting deaths were at the hands of police. Thus far this year, there have been no police-involved shootings.

[We also know the US DOJ is keeping Americans in the dark about Obama’s release of over 1,700 convicts in the last days of his presidency.]

Why is this problem not solved?

Because it is impolitically correct to focus policing and discipline on one segment or area of a given city. Stop and frisk worked.

Nothing is working now.

Black lives matter?

Don’t make me laugh.

The great unknown car chase scene http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/the-great-unknown-car-chase-scene/ http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/the-great-unknown-car-chase-scene/#comments Sun, 16 Apr 2017 09:17:00 +0000 http://bloviatingzeppelin.net/?p=28254 Continue reading ]]> Stunt driver Bill Hickman (R) with actor Paul Genge (as Ice Pick Mike). Director Peter Yates left the very real, frightened reactions of actor Genge in the film as they occurred.

We’ve all seen the chase scene in Steve McQueen’s 1968 film “Bullitt.”

There’s no denying it set the gold standard for movie chase sequences.

Oddly enough, I happened to meet Bill Hickman (solo stunt driver for the black Dodge Charger) in the early 80s just before he passed away in 1986. Hickman told me he had a great time in the film, wiped out a very expensive Arriflex film camera because he held his oversteer correction too long, and that it took four weeks to shoot the 10-minute chase scene. He also told me that the first left turn Steve McQueen took, at the beginning of the chase, was filmed in real traffic. That was a civilian taxi driver he turned behind to begin the pursuit; explaining his anger. Hickman confirmed there were three cars each: three Mustangs and three Chargers. All for backup. Question for attentive readers: in the movie, overall, how many hubcaps did the Charger lose on screen? Answer below.

Truly astounding what those stunt drivers, Bill Hickman, Bud Ekins, Carey Loftin and Loren James could accomplish in real time with, truly, ancient and heavy vehicles possessing poor handling, poor stopping capabilities yet with large power plants.

Bill Hickman, tragically enough, came upon the scene, a few minutes later, of James Dean’s fatal Porsche 550 crash on Highway 46 in 1955. Dean died in Hickman’s arms.

As an aside — what would happen if you attempted to re-create the classic Bullitt chase scene in, say, 2013? Pay attention people. Look for details.

We’ve also seen the great pursuit sequences in “The Seven-Ups.”

And of course there is the car chase scene from Ronin. Did we ever find out what was in the suitcase?

What about Ronin’s chase scene, Part II?

But have you ever seen or heard of the pursuit sequence from the movie “Strange Shadows In An Empty Room,” starring Stuart Whitman, John Saxon and Martin Landau?

The movie, financed and released in Italy, was shot in Montreal and Ottawa.

Remember, for crap American cars at the time, particularly a clunky Buick sedan, and in consideration of the fact that CGI simply didn’t exist, there appeared a cadre of actual stunt performers who had to make it all look realistic. They put their lives on the line for what we now recognize as hunks of junk.

That was back when people in movies had to actually possess talent.

BZ

P.S.

Question: Why have CGI movies absolutely exploded in the past 20 years?

Answer:    Because directors find it much, much more convenient to review dailies and movie work when they exist as digital clips, seen in the comfort of their own homes or offices. The millions and millions of dollars spent on CGI exist for visual impact but also for the convenience of the directors involved, in terms of their review.

Hubcaps? 7.
