A 37-year-old American businesswoman and married mother of three is seeking justice after she was thrown in jail by Saudi Arabia’s religious police for sitting with a male colleague at a Starbucks coffee shop in Riyadh.

Yara, who does not want her last name published for fear of retribution, was bruised and crying when she was freed from a day in prison after she was strip-searched, threatened and forced to sign false confessions by the Kingdom’s “Mutaween” police.

Ah yes, Islam, the religion of peace, tolerance, understanding, and consideration for the freedoms of women the world over.

  3. I agree with TF, she knew the local rules in Saudi but decided to break them anyway. If she was single they more than likely would not have even let her in the country.

  4. TF: aaah, but here’s the rub: what happens THERE is soon to happen HERE because, after all, NO ONE will judge Islam in America. And here’s the STRANGER conundrum: why is it that, only AFTER 9/11 did Muslims get center stage in America? Islam kills 3,000 people and we just THEN decide to hold them on a pedestal? Does that mean their tactics may be working?

  6. It is very important to us, BZ, and exactly for the reason you stated, and I do care what happens to a person like the woman in your post, and all women there, American or Muslim!

    The men there are male cheuvenist pigs, among other despicable things to numerous to go into here. If I lived there I’d be breaking the rules too, but of course I wouldn’t live very long. No one with a mind of there own can follow the rules when they are as stifling and unfair as the rules Muslem men put on their women. They treat them worse than they do their livestock. Perhaps it’s because they are pigs that they hate pigs so much, but I believe they hate women even more than they do pigs. If the liberals have their way we will be dealing with these idiots in this country and I will definitely not follow their rules! They are in our country and are not paying any atttention whatsoever to “When in Rome…”

    If we had the good sense to be about the business of producing our own energy we could tell the Saudi’s to keep their shit over there and we could leave them alone but because stupid-ass liberals here cry and whine everytime they hear of an oil well being drilled in the US we have to do business with these assholes, women conduct business in the rest of the world, everybody seems to want to conduct business worldwide, the Saudi’s should be held to the same standards of conduct as the rest of the world if they want to do business in it.

    the best thing that could happen is we produce our own energy, and those assholes could get on with their 6th century existence.

  8. Samuel Huntington wrote two excellent books about “Who We Are”, etc. But the overarching question of “can these two cultures mix” — ? The short answer is, in the current form is Islam, no. The differences are too great, the gulf too wide.

Islam has been at war with the west from the 8th century, they have never been too good to stay on their side of the fence, having tried to invade Europe in the 8th, 11th, and 15th and 18th centuries (and the US was in on the last one). fighting a war with a religion differs greatly from fighting wars with nations. Muslims are trying their damndest to invade and subvert or wear down western culture once again. and what do we do about it? why give them all our money for oil we could get elsewhere. much of Europe wants to bend over and take it, it seems, France is okay with dozens of cars getting burned every night, the Dutch seem okay with their women getting raped in the street. and the archbishop of canterbury wants Britain under sharia!
    My full of this shit point is somewhat lower than most Europeans it seems, as I would expect a country to respect citizens from other countries conducting commerce in theirs if they want to conduct business with the world, that is. Frankly, I can’t see where Muslims respect our customs here, or there. yet they demand we respect their customs there and here, both, or by allah there gonna kill us and take our heads!

    The reference to the constitution has nothing to do with ANYONE being beat, it has everything to do with freedom of religion, and we grant that to all people in this nation…

    This woman was arrested in Saudi Arabia, for a violation of their law, THAT is the part I don’t give a damn about, you mess up in their country, your ass suffers THEIR penalty…

    Now if they try to pull that bullshit HERE, that is another story, did you MISS that part??

    Their nation, their law, they come here they adhere to OUR laws, but their religious practices are guaranteed BY the constitution, and if you have a problem with that, you need to get that pesky little freedom of religion thing changed…
