My-my-my, the consternation Willie J seems to be causing on the Hillary side.
He just cannot seem to keep his graying mug off television, the internet, news shows. He’s ramped up campaigning for Hillary because, in my opinion, by transference, he’s running once again.
Who’s been making all the news the past few days? Face time? Sound bites? News bits? It hasn’t been Hillary.
DILLON, S.C. (AP) – He’s not on the ballot but Bill Clinton seemed to dominate the South Carolina presidential campaign, disparaging Barack Obama and journalists and predicting that many voters will be guided mainly by gender and race loyalties.
Liberal talk show hosts are coming out and actually accusing Bill Clinton of lying.
Bill’s attacks are not playing well:
In response, Bill Clinton said Harpootlian’s comments were a distraction, and he accused the Obama campaign of funneling smears through the media.
Because of she AND Bill, some media are accusing the Clinton campaign of “going negative.”
Willie J’s tactics are actually beginning to backlash in the liberal media. And Bill Clinton really IS the legacy that won’t go away, as I wrote here waaaaay back in 2004.
But, bottom line, you can’t tell me that some won’t vote for Hillary because they actually want to have Willie J back in the White House. Once there, if there, my question is this: who really will be running the White House? The country? You believe, even for the faintest of moments, that WJ will simply step back, fade into the woodwork? And if he does not — can you feature the behind-the-scenes flying sparks? Which would, by logical extension, tend to bleed into quite public sparks? Willie J will not be “background” — he won’t stand for it. And I think a good portion of the electorate will “enable” him on the matter as well.
On second thought, this really might be a most interesting potential Presidency. . .
BZ
This should get me some crap….
First, I’m not voting for Hillary or Obama.
I have no problem with the 8 years of Bill Clinton, none. It was a great 8 years for me, my income was up, my investments were up, business was great, employees took home more money.
I always ask myself the questions when I get ready to vote for a President. Am I better off now than I was 4 years ago, is the country better off now than 4 years ago, are the American people better off now than 4 years ago?
For myself I already know the answers.
I read the other day that if Bill Clinton was running today he would win by a landslide, why is that?
I will take a Bill Clinton over another Bush anyday of the week.
Now that you’ve brought that up, there is an aspect here that I have always wondered. . .
And has never been addressed by anyone with any real experience, that I trust.
That is this: Clinton seemed to have — and has always been portrayed as person who has a charisma that seems to extend beyond charisma and into, essentially, into another dimension.
I can recall reading any number of interviews done with Willie J, “back in the day,” that summed up: “He has the uncanny ability to focus directly on you, make you believe, at least for a time, that you are the only person, the only one who matters in the entire room.”
If this is true, that would explain quite clearly his “phenomenon.”
I’ve never met him. I can write this now because it’s been so long ago. When he was inaugurated in 1991, I was with another individual in our national capitol’s turret, looking down on the various stands — but through a Unertl scope. You dig?
BZ
I dig.
I’m glad you didn’t take the opportunity to change history.
It has always amazed me the behind-the-scenes-detail these people travel with, 1000’s of people to protect and move one person.
Truly amazing, how fun to be part of such a program, good for you BZ.
Good for the resume I might add.
Off subject, sorry but you brought up Unertl Scope.
My dad showed me a rifle and few years ago that he had just gotten and it had a Unertl Scope on it, I now have it.
He told me that this Scope was made for and only sold to the USMC, is that true?
He also told me it was the best Scope made, made in the USA.
That is true. Once Carlos Hathcock “famous-ized” the Unertl in the sniper community, scores of military snipers clamored for it. I met Carlos once, for a brief time, at Quantico. Small guy, unassuming. Thousands and thousands of wannabe’s would have given what I got. Carlos shook my hand (don’t know how far into his cancer he was) and said: “But can you pull the trigger?”
This is the end of that discussion. Ever.
Yes. I could.
BZ
This is not really a good thing.
Bill Clinton was a crook who governed competently (which makes him the opposite of our current president in both senses.)
Hillary is a power-hungry fascist. Plain, pure and simple.
We need to be concentrating on stopping her, not talking about her husband, who like Bush, is not on the ballot.
“Bill Clinton was a crook who governed competently (which makes him the opposite of our current president in both senses.)”
i never considered Clinton a competent President, only a popular one. his dealings with N. Korea are a good example of his incompetency.
as for Bush, wars have a tendency to make a President look incompetent. even Geo. Washington did not appear to be a competent leader to the French for a time. The same is true of Lincoln until he chose Grant to lead the troops.
“He has the uncanny ability to focus directly on you, make you believe, at least for a time, that you are the only person, the only one who matters in the entire room.”
To me that translates into professional bullshit, and an expert of con-artistry…
I, for the life of me, cannot understand why anyone would want a husband and wife duo running this country, and that is what it will amount too.
Nothing good can come of that for this country. Hell, maybe that’s why she’s running, she’ll let Bill be the prez behind the scenes and she’ll play presidential intern. A little sexual role playing to finally get her some…LMAO.
Personally, imo, there needs to be a change to the 22nd amendment… That NO spouse can run for the office of the presidency after a husband, or wife for that matter, has served in that office before. Period.
For me:
And then when you are given the command. You obey.
Twenty + years ago.

You might like this, from Gallup:
“Americans say being inspiring is an important presidential quality, but when forced to choose, they would rather see a president elected in 2008 who is a tested leader, but not inspirational, than a candidate who is inspiring but not a tested leader. Most Republicans opt for electing a tested leader, while Democrats are evenly divided. Among the four leading Republican and Democratic presidential candidates, Barack Obama is most often rated as being inspirational, while John McCain is the runaway leader for tested leadership.
The Jan. 10-13 poll finds that 71% of Americans say it is “very important” for a president to be inspiring; an additional 23% say it is “somewhat important.” Similar percentages of Republicans, independents, and Democrats believe it is important to have an inspirational president.
Even though Americans value having an inspiring president, they give higher priority to a leader who has been tested when asked to choose between two hypothetical candidates as defined by these two dimensions. Fifty-two percent of Americans say they would prefer the 2008 presidential election winner to be “a candidate who is a tested leader but who is not that inspiring” while 43% say it would be better to elect “a candidate who is inspiring but who has not been tested as a leader.”
Republicans show a strong inclination toward a tested leader: 60% think this is more important for the next president than being inspiring, while 33% think the opposite. Democrats are evenly divided, with 49% preferring an inspirational leader and 49% preferring a tested one. Independents show a slight preference for a tested leader.”
I saw that first cartoon yesterday at Townhall and got a good laugh, so true!!
Slick Willy really needs to get out of the way and shut-up. I just another one of his angry tirades at a reporter tonight. He looks like he needs anger management therapy.
I hope Bill STAYS in the fore front, are you guys missing this??
“Slick Willy really needs to get out of the way and shut-up.”
Oh really?? And WHY is that?? He’s making Shrillary looks BAD, and that’s good… He is dividing the Dems, and that’s better…
Some folks need to learn a bit more about politics before they make dumbass comments like that…
Slick Willie is doing a marvelous job, leave him alone…
In case you missed it, this is the way the Clintons have *always* run campaigns. One distracts and the other seems ‘moderate’ in comparison, thus gaining appreciation by not being as bad as the other.
The Clinton Presidency had the great and good fortune to come in at the ground floor of the internet stock bubble that started when Congress opened up the internet. So many people want to concentrate on the *end* few years that they forget the *first* few years: ‘peace dividend’, ‘bimbo eruptions’, Charlie Trie, missile guidance technology winding up in China, lack of any interest in how organized crime in Russia was becoming a ‘power player’ there and globally, the massive Bank of New York network breach from the *inside* by said Red Mafia, individuals who reported directly to the People’s Liberation Army in China getting CIA analysis access, NAFTA in which Mexico promised *not* to export its unemployed northwards…. nope the booming economy wiped away the concept that precisions machining, milling and guidance systems going to China might actually be a *threat* to the US. That massive bank and stock market fraud by the Red Don would see tens if not hundreds of millions go overseas to establish one of the most noxious organized crime systems the world has ever seen, which has been selling arms, munitions, logistical supplies and radioactive material to radical islamists since the mid-1990’s. The idea that a few terrorist attacks, including the 1993 WTC bombing, African Embassy bombings, USS Cole attack and an assassination attempt on the President by FARC are not *real* problems.
How about that peace keeping in the Balkans? Aren’t we now glad that Wahhabists and Iranian extremist now work in Kosovo and Bosnia? And then there is this guy by the name of bin Laden backing the KLA and establishing good relations in the region… while Mr. Clinton had his ‘bimbo eruptions’.
And the only reason President Clinton signed on welfare reform is that the other party had made that a *popular* position. He did *not* come up with it *himself*: that is not how he sees government as Hillarycare clearly demonstrates.
Having more money does not make one better off. Those that died on 9/11 would most likely have traded *that* event for a 1% extra of GDP going towards a nice, harsh military view of those waging Private War on the US for years if not decades. My personal well being is not, in actuality, related to the poorly thought out ways in which we are trying to become a nice transnational state with a super-duper, extraordinary government that hands off decisions on trade and immigration policy outside our borders, imposes taxes to meet such ‘entitlements’ because, you know, once government raids to cookie jar to hand out *prizes* you feel ‘entitled’ to them even if they are bankrupting the place, and then not doing much to go after those attacking the Nation and handing over advanced technology to our *adversaries*, so that my personal ‘wealth’ is put at risk by having the citizenry’s liberty eroded, our Nation put at peril of uncivilized attacks by those overseas, and then holding our hands out to get money from the rich because we have not taken up the responsibility of caring for ourselves so that our *charity* can care for those who cannot do so. The object of government is *not* to be nice, and it is the last and worse place to hand *any* social *good*. We know this as it is, as is said, Common Sense:
“Some writers have so confounded society with government,
as to leave little or no distinction between them;
whereas they are not only different, but have different origins.
Society is produced by our wants, and government by our wickedness;
the former promotes our POSITIVELY by uniting our affections,
the latter NEGATIVELY by restraining our vices. The one
encourages intercourse, the other creates distinctions.
The first a patron, the last a punisher.”
I agree with Tom Paine on this and much else. When politicians come to tell us the *good* government can do beyond protecting the Nation and equal enforcement of the law, I check around to see if this is still America… and not a socialist republic. And the entire political class is failing that.
The very idea of another Clinton presidency makes me sick to my stomach.
I liked your cartoons, BZ. Snagged one for Fractured Friday.
