32 Dead

It is horrible and lamentable that this thing occurred. My thoughts go to the survivors, the murdered and their families.

We shall now see just who responds and how this response shall be crafted, by politicians, in terms of another push to limit guns.

These are examples mass murders.

I say, not only:

  • Does an individual have a right to self defense;
  • One has a duty to self defense and self preservation.
One 9mm round, well-placed by an armed American citizen, could have stopped all of these actions before they became mass murder situations. The cops aren’t going to be there, at the right place at the right time for situations like this. They simply cannot. There aren’t enough to go around for much more than after-action “responses.” Cops can’t protect the bulk of you. I know. I’m a cop. We respond. We seldom prevent. It’s a fact of life.

Let the whining and breast-beating and victimhood otherwise commence.

  1. Gonna be interesting to see the responses from those that have NO knowledge and those on the left side of things…

I’ve been trying to educate em for a while but hell man, all I get is called names and told I’m a fake that never was…

God protect and give peace to the families… The dead are in His hands already…

  2. Texas Fred: that’s precisely what I’m awaiting — the wailing from Certain Factions that “we cannot stand to have any more guns in our society.”

Oh really? Try asking the Australians how THAT’S all working out?

  3. So do we now have to get aliens to obey already-in-existence gun laws, or round them all up and search them?

It seems to me that the Second Amendment only applies to citizens, so the ‘alien’ was already in violation of basic Constitutional law.

Proving once again, gun laws do not work.

Right on, Mr. Zeppelin. May your tribe increase.

  4. At the very least, they should have had a few armed guards there, but then the students would have seen an occasional gun and that would have upset their delicate little minds.

  5. I posted about this (as did just about everyone, I’m sure) and mentioned the fact that VA Tech was recently rejoicing over the defeat of a bill that would have allowed students and faculty to exercise their rights to CCW. What a shame.

  6. Well said BZ, As we all should know Law Enforcement, is usually not present during commissions of crimes.

Criminals are stupid, not crazy. (For the most part)

I had a nice conversation with a Lt of our PD and he was adamant about OUR responsibilities in regards to our safety. he said the same thing as you did.
