New Blogger Editor

It should come as no surprise that I, the Supreme Luddite*, am still on the old Blogger editor.

Whilst puttering around on the internet and in Blogger Help, some people are less than impressed at having upgraded to the newer available Blogger editor.

Question: is the new Blogger editor worth the upgrade?

Some of the issues revolve around the placement of images in a given post, and some problems created when moving an image to a location that Blogger doesn’t seem to care for — such as in the middle of a paragraph.

For those who may have experience with the old and “new” Blogger editor: any thoughts?

Thanks kindly!

BZ

* Luddite: Neo-Luddism is a personal world view opposing modern technology.[1] Its name is based on the historical legacy of the British Luddites which were active between 1811 and 1816.[1] Neo-luddism includes the critical examination of the effects technology has on individuals and communities.[2]

Reform Luddism is an offshoot of Neo-Luddism and represents a personal world view skeptical of modern technology and critical of many purported benefits.

  1. I’ve been OFF of Blogger for almost 4 years now, went to self-hosted WordPress platform…

I can’t think of a good thing to say about Blogger other than it’s free…

And you get what you pay for…

  2. I guess I’m on the hew editor.
Whenever I download a pic to blogger, it always goes to the top.

I use the HTML setting and copy the info and paste it where I want- never had a problem,,,,except for when I copy and delete the wrong pic.

  3. TF, pretty much, and I knew you’d weigh in there. Can’t dispute it.

KurtP: the old editor always loads the pic on top. I cut and paste in HTML in order to move photos/pix around the blog. Like you. Apparently it’s what people are finding difficult to do in the new editor.

  4. I do have to say, I was using my Blogger holding blog, the one I use to keep the TexasFred.com email address, I used it as a platform to write posts and edit too, then WordPress came out with the latest improvement and I stopped using Blogger altogether, and that was fairly recent…

The ease and freedom make me certain, Blogger is what it is, a simple, easy to use platform that allows people to have blogs that are easily built, posted to and maintained… And there are a lot of things that CAN be done with Blogger if a person is so inclined and can use HTML…

But WordPress, the PAID edition, exceeds all expectations, and with every update, it gets better…

And, Blogger has made *right* blogs disappear, Google can be very LEFT, we use the WordPress platform, but not associated with WordPress.com, our updates come from the .org and we are self hosted, our own domains and deletion for radical right-wing content is NOT going to happen…

  5. They’ve changed the problem with the pictures now, finally. They used to always go at the top of the post by default. I always had to copy the code for the pic, then cut it, and then paste it to where I wanted it. Now your pics will go wherever you put your cursor.

  6. I can’t help ya ’cause I’m one step behind you. I’ve seen others switch from “terrible” blogger and then rant about the aggravating things they encounter with other providers.
I’m doin’ this for fun and to learn.
Simple ol’ free “Blogger” works just fine for me. I’m using the original format I started with in 2005, and ya know what? It still works. It does what I need it to do.
    “If it ain’t broke…”

  7. BZ, I use Microsoft’s Windows Live Editor. It’s pretty simple in walking you through how to set up the program to use with Blogger or WordPress. Online help files are also available. Say what you will about Microsoft – sometimes, they do it right.
