Air Force One Over New York

Quite any number of bloggers and pundits have weighed-in regarding the recent $390k AF1 photos taken above the Statue of Liberty.

None of them, that I’ve seen, have commented on the released photo itself — which is largely an abortion on toast.
As you can see (click on each image for a much larger result), this photograph appears to obviously have been taken inside another aircraft and through an aircraft window. The shot is therefore cheapened markedly.

Do you not see the reflection in the upper-right portion of the photo which clearly delineates a darker aspect on the right, a lighter aspect on the left?
And do you not see a darker aspect on the lower right portion of the photo? As though — for example — the photo were taken through another aircraft window?

Above is the original photo. Beneath that is a photo that I lightly PhotoShopped in order to make it slightly more palatable.
And the White House couldn’t do this?

Incompetents in coordination, incompetents in photography. Any of you Obama bastards ever hear of the Rule Of Thirds?

  1. what was the purpose of these fly by’s? a photo op? you mean to tell me the Messiah could not put a photographer on another flight with him that was more legit? he had to waste a trip on AF1 instead of using it for work? first abortions, then william aires, then rev. wright, then his crappy cabinet, and a crap load of stupidity, now we have something else to clown him on. I’m pretty amazed. how can someone be such a douche? just make sure you empty out the red rubber bag.

  2. It was not necessarily a wasted trip. Pilots for AF1 (there are 5 planes as I recall) need seat time so they are regularly flying traing flights just like any other military aircraft. The idiocy of it was just the no notification of local officials.

  3. BZ, FOX did a photoshop that cost them nothing that was better than the WH shots.
Maybe you should offer them your talents in fixing the photo…for $300,000K? I’ll bet they’ll take you up on it!
WMD-Maker’s right, too…they didn’t even alert Bloomberg. Unbelievable.
then THE ONE jokes about it at the Correspondents Dinner “our kids are grounded because they’ve let things go to their head and took Air Force One out for a spin”

No, Obama…YOU have let things go to your head.

  4. HUMMMMM
Or this whole Debacle was “released” to the press and done on that day to Distract the Public again from the trampling of their basic rights by the Obamanation.

  5. WMD: correct; not necessarily wasted UNLESS, as you point out, you FAIL to make the appropriate notifications AND the resulting photographs have the high quality of a 12-year-old with a Kodak Instamatic.

    Incompetents in your White House.

  6. The pilot for AF1 could easily get some hours by flying another 747, not the two that are routinely undergoing an insane maintenance load.

My kid could have taken a better photo with a disposable camera. What a freakin’ joke. This is what happens when under-qualified persons are put in positions of power, and come up with what they would call a, “good idea.”

  7. just john
They only look like 747s. They are in fact HIGHLY modified and any resemblance to a commercial 747 is pure coincidence.

  8. BZ,

I realized something a day or two after this event. This was not about photos. It was a joyride. Now, I don’t know who, whether it was a group of big campaign supporters, or the 1st Lady and the kids, but someone important was on that plane. They got the joyride of a lifetime, closeup views of New York City and the harbor.

That what explains the secrecy, the chase planes, and the way the Administration has responded since the event.

Michelle Malkin has a FOIA request for the photos and the flight manifest. We’ll see if she gets it.

  9. JJ and WMD:

I highly concur: they only resemble 747s but — again — that isn’t the point I’m trying to make.

The point is: DESPITE having essentially a perfect set of circumstances and an ideal point in time — this administration STILL managed to screw things up and couldn’t produce even ONE professional photo from the session.

You know, you may have HIT upon the veritable CRUX of the biscuit on this topic; what is it or WHO is it that they’re covering?

    Wow. That’s some insight.

THANKS for visiting and THANKS for commenting!
