PART I:
Uh-oh. BZ’s thoughts and whispers seem to be making print:
WASHINGTON — Despite Democrats’ excitement over the presidential nomination battle between Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton, both candidates would lose to presumptive Republican nominee John McCain if the general election were held today, a new Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll has found.
How massively disspiriting if another Republican inhabited the White House.
PART II:
The debate began on MSNBC at 6pm Pacific, and it was a full sixteen minutes before the whining commenced: Hillary was asked the second question — first — again, and she wondered aloud why she always got asked a question first, instead of Obama, making a reference to the SNL skit where the media asks Barack Obama if he’d like another pillow for his chair.
Suffice to say, that didn’t play well in the audience and, once more, showed viewers that Hillary was more than willing to play the Victim Card.
[Aside: twice on Tuesday, February 26th, while stumping for his wife’s candidacy, former President William J. Clinton said to audiences: “When I’m elected president. . .”]
Overall, 90 minutes later, Barack Obama simply then and now comes off as a more affable, genuinely “likeable” individual than Hillary Clinton. More controlled. Less vindictive. More a gentleman than she is a lady. Neither of them spoke in great detail per se (as expected) but Hillary came across again as sarcastic, bordering on arrogance.

P.S.

Yes, Clinton-Obama.9.3%
No, there’s no way either of them would bow to accept the other as running mate.81%
That last little tid-bit is very telling – not only about the candidates, but those who are following them. Maybe they aren’t such dumb clucks after all. (the followers, not the candidates. that’s another comment altogether)
Cary: perhaps not, indeed. Not too much longer on the same course and Obama will have it sewn up numerically.
BZ
I could care less which one of these AssHats gets elected, I’m done with it.
Obama, Clinton, McCain or Nader, give me a F**king break.
F**k it, I’m going fishing, while I can.
Ranando: yeah, I read the comment thread between yourself and Fred. I’d say the future until November is pretty much already plotted with not a lot of mystery betwixt.
BZ
BZ,(RIVKA HERE) I agree, Obama will have it sewn up soon. I predicted this back in December and most disagreed saying no one can beat the clinton machine and understandably so. It was very risky to make that bet in December. I based my assessment on his likeablity V. Clintons the libs vote on likeability rather than substance. Of course neither of them have substance anyway. Rush said the libs don’t give a flip about where the candidates stand because they are both pretty much the same so Hillary going after Obama on issues is dumb. She needs to go in and have a face lift, tummy tuck and she needs to get rid of the feminazi look and go for something a bit more sleek.. Maybe if she looked and acted like John McCain’s wife she might have a chance.
I am on a different computer, so I have to do anonymous. (Rivka)
I watched the entire debate. What an utter waste of time that was! 🙁
McGovern vs Dole… that is what this is boiling down to. Classic Big Government Left vs. Classic Big Government Right.
Do remember that McCain voted to over-ride a number of Reagan’s vetos on such things as the bloated Clean Water Act, the veto on S. African sanctions and civil rights extension attaching strings on hiring to an entire organization that gets any federal funds.
Then such fun things he voted for: ‘federalizing’ the ‘homeless’, import quotas, Legal Services Corp, minority set-asides for DoD contracting, more expansive environmental bills (can you say expanded environmental impact studies and limited development on your own land?)… the Clean Air act made it difficult to get new refineries and power stations built… then supporting bi-lingual elections… mmmmm… multi-culti… then continuously voted to let Clinton keep troops in Bosnia and Kosovo without any Congressional oversight. Remember that? Republicans pounding on the table for oversight on voluntary missions?
Say, whatever *did* happen to those Republicans? Aren’t we glad we are now handing Kosovo over to al Qaeda funded KLA members?
Beyond McCain-Feingold, he also voted for another unconstitutional item – the Chemical Weapons treaty. Yes, ruled unconstitutional by the SCOTUS.
Then you get to his years where his voting would earn him nearly the right-most position in the D party…Then drafing McCain-Leiberman for gun control and such. Not that you will hear *that* from Mr. Straight Talking Expressly Taking Your Rights From You Because He Knows Better.
He is a ‘big man’ in the ‘big man theory of history’ type: rights and liberty aren’t for ‘little people’.
Mind you the D party is way to the Left of that… but, hey, you can have your full-bore socialism or socialism-lite! What a choice!
I’m sure that we will be hearing great things about the ‘economic condition of social capital’ or some such from the R party soon, so they will sound just like any other Socialist party in Europe. Maybe it will be a ‘National Socialist’ concept? I mean if the D party has taken all the ‘International Socialist’ views, then its pretty natural for the National variety to show up.
You know: ‘left on the ash heap of history’ sort of deal?
