Couldn’t help noticing the eyeglass the narrators are wearing. Over-sized plastic horn rims. I’m guilty of wearing the same thing back in the day.
My favorite diesel locomotive will remain the ALCO FA. Too bad they were so problematic. The Amtrak units have never looked “right”to me.
Shhh, don’t tell anyone, but an Amtrak engineer gave me a cab ride a few years back, as well as an earful about the GE P42 locomotives. He said the fuel tanks are tucked up under the carbody so high that the locomotive’s center of gravity is too high as well. He said you can’t rest your elbows on the window sills (I saw that), the windows are too small and sight lines to the outside suck. Plus he’s not a fan of DC locomotives.
