A man who killed five people, four women and one man, at Burlington’s Cascade Mall in the state of Washington — that authorities originally described as Hispanic — now turns out to be a 20-year-old Turkish Muslim named Arcan Cetin. He was arrested on an assault charge in July of 2015. His Twitter account, @ArcanCetin, is still here.

Authorities are still working to determine a motive and said there’s no immediate evidence the rampage was terror-related.

It doesn’t take anyone with more than a thimble full of brains to discern that there was a distinct reason the FBI was involved in these shootings from the very beginning. Absent another connection and/or crossing state lines or violating a federal statute the FBI predominantly couldn’t care less about local shootings. It’s not their job.

Until it is their job.

Within just the past week, Islamic violence has occurred on US soil:

• A Muslim man attacked an NYPD officer with an 11-inch long meat cleaver and slashed him from temple to jaw; suspect shot and in critical condition;
• A devout Muslim went on a knife rampage at a St Cloud shopping mail, stabbing eight people after asking them if they were Muslim; suspect shot and killed;
• Another devout Muslim planted 11 bombs in NYC and New Jersey — working in concert with an unknown number of others — detonated two of those devices;

We were told time and again, at least initially, that these attacks were not terror related and had nothing whatsoever to do with Islam. The mayor of New York City told us so, for God’s sake.

Until, a few minutes or a couple of hours later, Islam is involved.

How much longer — media, authorities and police — do you think you can keep bleating “it’s not Muslims or terror” — be proven wrong — and have people believe much of anything you say any more?
