ObamaKare This Week:

The first vote on the ObamaKare package comes up in the Senate this coming week. From the Evil Fox News:

Despite Uphill Climb, Reid Is Poised to Muscle Health Care Through Senate
by FOXNews.com
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is awaiting final word from the Congressional Budget Office on costs and coverage implications of the still-secret bill he submitted more than two weeks ago.

Under pressure from the White House, Majority Leader Harry Reid says he plans to bring a health care reform package to the floor of the Senate next week, and his goal is to see it passed by the end of the year.

It appears the Demorats may be pushing for full-on cloture in the Senate.

What is cloture? Literally, it is “A parliamentary procedure by which debate is ended and an immediate vote is taken on the matter under discussion. Also called closure.”

This is a way to end debate or filibuster, essentially having the ability to ramroad ObamaKare through the Senate. This could potentially do away with conferences, etc. It is very much a “nuclear option” and could have serious ramifications for those voting so. Cloture — “Rule 22” in the Senate — is quite the high risk/high gain move.

Instead of an original 2/3rds vote, in 1975 the US Senate reduced the number of votes needed to invoke cloture to three-fifths (60) of Senate membership.

That is another reason why the number “60” is so important in terms of Senatorial power. Wield a constant 60+ votes and you can pretty much have your way in the US Senate.

With that in mind, there is a website extant called Talk PAC which states:

Send a message to Harry Reid and vulnerable Democrat Senators: If you vote for Government Healthcare, against the will of the voters in your state, you will pay a price in the 2010 election.

Here, you will find news and video on ObamaKare, and you may donate if you wish.

The Democrats in the Senate who face voters in 2010 know they have drawn the short straw. Their colleagues who ran and won in 2006 and 2008 had the wind at their back. This class survived the George Bush win of 2004 only to now land in the middle of the blowback against President Obama and his huge lurch left. Even now aggressive groups like TalkPac.com are busy raising funds to deploy against those most vulnerable Senate Democrats who vote for cloture on Obamacare. The Democrats who had hoped to “hide” their support of Obamacare behind an eventual “no” vote as the bill passes into law have come to realize that in the era of new media, the electorate understands that the cloture vote is everything. To give a green light now is to own the bill that gets to the president’s desk this year or next. There will be no shedding responsibility for the law if a yes vote on cloture is registered next week.

MoveOn.org is also proffering consequences for Demorats not fighting The Good ObamaKare Fight. They write, here, at a MoveOn.org petition site:

Democrats in the Senate need to know their constituents are watching how they vote on the health care reform that we’ve all worked so hard for. Make a pledge now so we can let the media and Senate leadership know how much support there will be for a primary challenger to any member of the Democratic Caucus who keeps health care reform from getting an up-or-down vote. You don’t need your credit card right now—just let us know how much you pledge.

Yes, Joseph Lieberman has said he won’t vote for ObamaKare if it contains a so-called “public option.” But he’s just one person. Hugh Hewitt lists four persons he believes can help swing the vote. Click on that link and make your calls. As you can see, the fight for ObamaKare is NOT over; it is just getting rolling.

Also: the Demorats made it known they are taking Immigration Reform into their sights come January. How does amnesty for 12 million illegal invaders sound to you? They’re already pushing for illegals to be covered under ObamaKare. If illegals are then granted amnesty and then covered for healthcare, do you suspect there might be some votes acquired by Demorats? The photos? They are coming. The push for it is here. Out and out Socialism.

It’s all interconnected. You see that; apparently the bulk of America does not yet. You need to get out and spread the word.

Do it soon.

  1. I just don’t get what your problem with health care reform is. It will stop mega corporations from denying coverage, obscene premiums and cove millions who cant afford it or are denied. Why do you want to be a shill for the corporations who are out to screw you by encouraging you to use stupid monikers like ‘socialism?’

You hate Obama so much you potential jeopardize the lives of your family? Why do you hate Americans?

  2. Bd: I don’t like the looks of some office buildings; many of them are ugly. But I don’t want to completely demolish office buildings entirely.

    My objections are these:

    1) STOP the spending. This will cost, the CBO last estimated, billions and billions, bordering on trillions.

    2) STOP the spending. This is the WORST time to ADD to our deficit and ENSURE that YOUR children and your GRANDchildren are into debt they like will never repay.

    3) You don’t have to demolish the entire system to bring about reform.

    4) Speaking of reform, where’s the TORT reform? Loser PAYS? Oh, that’s right, it’ll NEVER be there.

    5) ObamaKare will KILL Medicare and Medicaid; they stated this, the Demorats, themselves. Guess YOU don’t like indigents either, eh?

    5) How about INcreasing co-pays for everyone?

    6) That’s just the TIP of the iceberg.

My family isn’t jeopardized. Our healthcare is PRECISELY what I want because I got to CHOOSE what I wanted. And I DON’T stand in line.

  3. Bd, some of us just aren’t buying into the shit sandwich Obama and Company are trying to make us all take a bite out of…

And that’s really cute, trying to turn the *hate America* thing around… Your hero is in for one hell of an awakening, I can’t wait to hear your take on things then…

  4. RL: I can only hope that’s true. One thing is certain: I don’t think the Senate will be quite such the “skate” the house was. I’m sure Pelosi, Reid, and Durbin (Majority Whip) are calling in EVERY marker they possess.

TF: 2010, I think, is going to be an Awakening on BOTH sides of the aisle.
