Never let it be said Fred D. Thompson isn’t smart.
The former Tennessee senator plans to announce his official entry into the Republican presidential contest on Thursday. But he’ll pique interest first on Wednesday with an ad aired during a GOP presidential debate from New Hampshire that Thompson will otherwise skip. By then he will have taped an appearance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno,” which will air about an hour after the debate ends in many U.S. households. Come midnight, he’ll post a 15-minute video announcement on his official Web site.
The face time with Leno and the debate ad on the Fox network are the coquettish moves of a candidate who has already proven his aptitude using the media, from television to the Internet. While his main rivals – Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and John McCain – parry debate questions, Thompson will pretty much control his own message.
Well that’s one way of looking at it and it makes sense.
I hope to hear about his vision of border security, I also want to hear what he thinks about allowing Mexican trucks to run amuk on our roads.
Tax Payer Funded Roads, Not Illegal immigrant funded roads mind you….
It’s about F–king time.

He’s playing this fairly well, and will probably steal all the thunder out of the debate. It’s still a year away to your election, and after everyone gets sick of the current candidates, he jumps in….. he could do some damage with them kind of tactics…. 🙂
Bush: that’s one issue that plays the forefront of my mind as well. I want to hear what EACH of them specifically have to say about it.
Ranando: bordering on running out of interest.
ABF: with Fred, I believe it’s all about tactics. He’ll either flop horrendously or he’ll change the way of running forever.

Jenn: see? My point precisely!
Dee: that old dog knows just how to pull the media strings, trust me.

Let the games begin, this just became a real horse race, the questions will be a lot tougher, the answers had better be meatier and 110% honesty and unflinching integrity will be the call that carries the race…
Fred Thompson has a different style of campaigning, we’ve all seen that but now we need to see some HARD BALL politics, no more Mr. Niceguy, it’s time for Fred to start throwing some serious body shots and let us ALL see if he is the man we hope he is, and the man this nation needs…
