Points at the Kavanaugh hearing: first day

First, the execrable chaos brought down upon the hearing by Leftists.

This is insanity writ large.

Who is on Chairman Grassley’s left? Correct. Senator Diane Feinstein. She is quiet. Does she let the young chicks shit the bed or is she no longer interested in standing up for true Kabuki Theater? In any case, she is conspicuously silent. Crazy like a fox?

Following that pre-planned chaos, here is the most thoughtful and cogent introductory remarks that I have ever heard at a SCOTUS nomination hearing, provided by Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska with whom — I must admit — I sometimes vehemently disagree.

Not now.

Senator Ted Cruz weighs in:

Then South Carolina Senator Lindsay Graham weighed in:

After all this hooliganism, Brett Kavanaugh is finally allowed to speak.

And this was just the first day of the hearings.

  1. BZ, Tsk tsk. “Alabama Senator Lindsay Graham”? Is he any relation to the one from South Carolina? (True, he has a lovely Southern accent but it is not an Alabama one! In fact, any Southern accent is lovely. But I digress.)

Grassley lost control of his committee and chose not to regain it. By allowing ALL members unlimited time he essentially opened the door for filibustering. He better get it together and exercise more control in the next days.
Regarding those protesters, I’ve read that some of them were paid, cash in hand while standing in line, just to make a commotion.

Ben Sasse…wonderful and something I’ve thought for a long time. As time goes by it seems as if Congress does less and less. Eventually more power is devolving to the other 2 branches. Eventually our Republic will just be a whisper in the wind of history.
Cruz, as always, clear and to the point, learned and intelligent. I hope he carries Texas.
Graham: my, my, what fire and passion. I never realized. Good on him. And good to hear some specifics and examples clearly and without holding back showing up the Democrats who doth speak out of both sides of their mouths.
My takeaway: Republicans the adults, Democrats, a waste of time and spoiled children who want their way because they want their way. Petulant, long winded and a major source of global warming heretofore not acknowledged.
