Who Killed Glenn Beck?

Glenn Beck has disappeared from the Fox TV radar screens in what appeared to have been a record 2.35 seconds.

I watched his show on Fox a few times last week and, with every new episode, there was a new host — yet the show still featured his name and logo all around. In truth, I must admit, I enjoyed Judge Andrew Napolitano the most. I’d like to see Napolitano, in fact, pick up Beck’s time slot. I’d wager the ratings would be excellent.

That said, Beck has evidently decided to eschew politics and enter the realm of religion. If so, good for him, but he shouldn’t expect me to pick up his journey.
I’ll be blunt, as I customarily can be: I watched and listened to Glenn Beck for one thing and one thing only. Politics. I don’t much care about his religion or his epiphanies. Label me strange that way. Those of you who read the blog know that I’m rather personal and quiet about my religious beliefs. That’s just my nature.
Beck recently appeared at the Chicago Theatre a few days ago. A reviewer wrote:

But Beck’s heart didn’t really seem to be in that stuff anymore.

“That stuff”? Politics.
And now we know the reason that Beck’s ratings kerfuffled on Fox.
So. Who killed Glenn Beck?
He did, himself.

  1. He had guest hosts this past week because he was on the road doing live comedy shows, and his tour has been scheduled since before Christmas because I looked into buying tickets for his show in Cleveland as a Christmas gift. He is far from dead in getting the truth out.

  2. I doubt the LDS has ever met a rich congregate that it didn’t encourage to get richer. if Beck has been providing his sanctified 10% and accepting the yearly audits from the Salt Lake City prophets he’s dumping millions into the church coffers.

If the driving force is religion, it’s religion mixed with a plan to make more money.

That said, the man make a lot of sense and I have a lot of respect for him, despite my criticism of his religion.

  3. Pretty much sums up my feelings on Beck, and I was a LONG TIME fan too, back to the AM radio days, but when he started preaching and crying, I was done, just that quick…

  4. Hi, BZ…I think seeing just how bad things are in America and nobody but conservatives waking up to the incredible deceit of the Obama thugs , etc etc., which Beck was researching and reporting every single day, killed him if anything has.
He started going more to the religious side after that big DC rally, I noticed. Then he started hinting that we’re too far gone for anything but God to save America….which I believe, but I also believe God wants us to be good stewards and keep up the good fight.
I wonder if he’ll get involved in the Romney campaign?

  5. Beth, if it’s really that simple, then I’m wondering why Fox doesn’t indicate that Glenn is gone for a week or so and will return on such-and-such a day? Admittedly, I didn’t see the shows from the very beginning minute, but usually with guest hosts the network involved indicates the primary host will return soon. I didn’t see that. I’ll watch his show Monday and see what’s up.

Z, yes, I agree, Beck was pretty negative and revealed quite a bit. But I’m just not sure that was it. . .

  6. Beck has been on his Stand Up Comedy tour. I too like the idea of Napolitano in his time slot, and I’m sure he is hoping that happens for him. I also like Eric Bolling as a stand-in.

I think Beck will be excellent producing much-needed documentaries. I don’t think he will be a preacher-man, but I do think he will enjoy not being tied to the studio.

  7. I believe he said, shortly after his leaving Fox came out, that he is stepping away because it is time for others (us) to step up. He feels he’s done about all he can do.

Plus, he has some serious health issues that he’s dealing with, including the fact that he’s losing his sight.

  8. The “Rest of the Story” goes like this:

Beck had a meeting with his financial backers on a Saturday (advertising revenues was not the concern here). His financial backers gave him an ultimatum. He was defiant, but appeared to acquiesce. He appeared on television the following Monday and gave a very defiant closing monologue. His contract runs through the end of the year. I

I do not know who Beck’s replacement will be, but I do know that the replacement has already been selected. Based on what I know of Beck’s former financial backers, it will not be Judge Napolitano.
