Y Ahora Que? Que Tal?

What’s next?

On two fronts:

1. The Future Of An Immigration Bill:
Congressman John Campbell, (R) Orange Co., CA, says he believes another bill, written by Congressmen King and Smith, is an enforcement-first bill in the offing and proffers the next logical step, containing roughly 40 to 50 points within. Immigration bills are like fini in the Senate; but in the House there is the Smith/King bill — to be smothered by Pelosi? Campbell suggests a groundswell of support for this bill — something not done for the prior bill. If this bill fails, there will like be nothing further done until 2008 and, therefore, immigration shall play a HUGE issue during the various primaries.

Watch for more information on this Smith/King bill . . .

Presidential candidates will have to COME OUT on a side with regard to immigration because it is an issue, “skirted” now, which must come home to roost SOON.

With regards funding for the border fence, the Homeland Security Appropriations Bill could result in huge funding variances — the fence could be half, a quarter or fully funded.

The next fiscal year begins October 1st. And the clash shall begin anew — perhaps a federal government shutdown in the offing?

2. The Summer of US Terrorism?
With all the recent events occurring in London and Glasgow, one cannot help but wonder if events similar or worse than these shall befall our soverign soil this year:

A secret U.S. law enforcement report, prepared for the Department of Homeland Security, warns that al Qaeda is planning a terror “spectacular” this summer, according to a senior official with access to the document.

This is, of course, nothing new.

Yid With Lid has posted about his ponderings regarding the future of terrorism here in America. He makes an excellent point in this paragraph:

For people like Juan Williams of Fox who tried to blame the rejection of the Immigration bill on some sort of racial, anti-Mexican feelings, “wake up and smell the oatmeal.” The reason 75% of the country rejected that silly bill is we want to keep the terrorists OUT. For years Britain had porous boarders and no immigration policy. Because of that it has become kind of a transportation hub for exporting terror across the western world.

We do need an immigration bill but first we need find a way to protect our borders and find out which illegal immigrants are in the country.

Oh: and I am tired of hearing we can’t find 12 million immigrants. Folks, you know how every two to three years there is a California fruit fly crisis? And the report is always, like, they saw 3 flies and one of which is a female?

Well, if the Department of Agriculture can find three bugs in the great state of California AND tell if one of them is a female, then we can find 12 million humans. Maybe we should be able to ban Illegal immigrants from getting services, entering school, getting welfare, etc.

Hell, when I go to the DMV and use a blue pen instead of a black pen I get sent to the back of the line. People who break the law (that’s why they are called ILLEGAL) should not receive government services, they should be given a black pen, sent home and forced to go to the end of the line.

IN CLOSING:
Congress has an approval rating even below that of President Bush. Much of this has to do with far-left Democrats horribly disillusioned with Pelosi and Reid and their having NOT gotten the US out of Iraq in 2.35 seconds, as well as not yet having impeached Bush and lining Cheney up against a wall for a firing squad.

Boys and girls: it ain’t just the Right unhappy with some of our core tenets; things are every bit in upheaval (if not moreso) on the Left.

  1. Re: Fourth of July

Please accept my good wishes for a 4th of July that is filled with peace, safety, and lots of fun. Know that there is one household in Canada who honours and celebrates this day with her friends in the greatest nation on earth.

The sacrifices made for our freedom are well known to me, and you, your family, and all Americans will be in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow.

God Bless you all from your friend in Canada.

  2. I appreciate Deborah’s comment. Thanks, Deborah!

It should be obvious to all that we need to take a lesson in what not to do from the Brits and secure our borders. When will our politicians get it? When it’s too late? Is it already to late? So many questions, too few answers, but an excellent post.

  3. Maybe if some folks had listened when some of us were trying to point out the failures of the Bush administration way back when…

    Just sayin’…

  4. Deborah: thank you VERY much from one American who appreciates your sentiment and wants nothing more than to consider Canada our most staunch ally in the world.

Gayle & Jenn: thanks, and yes, isn’t it funny how the government can do what needs to be done when it WANTS to.

Ranando: thanks so MUCH for the link!

To all: enjoy your Independence Day and grill some for me!! Heavy sigh: my wife has to work. :^(

  5. This last bill was one *of* the Right and the Left. The big, capital letter Left and Right.

Unfortunately those folks who are not of the big letter sides, are not seen as the valid source of government. The problem with conservatives associating with the Right is the same as the liberals with the Left: they represent interests that are not in the interest of the majority of Americans. And yet *both* these ‘sides’ talk about the inevitability of their positions… they lie, basically, to have people forget that history is not inevitable. We get bad memes to try and support these things: ‘free trade frees people’ and ‘no democracy has ever declared war on another democracy’. These are false. Our very history demonstrates that. They are talking points of disenfranchisement, to convince individuals that they do not need to support society for it to *work* as a Nation. Just let your intellectual ‘betters’ decide for you, or leave it up to those so very splendid companies to decide our foreign policy and immigration policy for the Nation. No need to *think* about what it means to be an American or have liberty to sustain freedom… just let other folks take that over and you need never worry about either… ever… again. Mind you the terrorists are much more direct: submit or die. Actually refreshing compared to the mental and verbal mush being handed out by the R and L sides.

I don’t care much for the Big Government outlook of the D and R persuasion, nor of the R or L side. They all have started to look the same to me: stop taking part in society, trust others to make decisions for you, don’t try to uphold any standard as that is either ‘bias’ or ‘impedes business’. Just pay your taxes. Lots of taxes. And you will get swell bread and circuses! Of course you will *all* be equal!! Yes, all slaves are perfectly equal…

Conservatives have some vitality left to them… if they dare to assert things the Right does not like. The liberals gave up on that some decades ago… just the Left there now.

We can have a Nation if we keep it and do things to adhere to it and support it. The ones being targeted for disenfranchisement, by making politics a meaningless morasse: so that apathy is the emotion of the day. Apathetic people are easy prey.

If you see yourself on the Right or Left, perhaps it is time to step away and ask: if we are so right, then why do so few follow us? That is if you can rise from your apathy of easy association to do so….
