Nuclear Option

Politics aside for a moment.

The west must be ready to resort to a pre-emptive nuclear attack to try to halt the “imminent” spread of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, according to a radical manifesto for a new Nato by five of the west’s most senior military officers and strategists.

Information like this does need to be in the public domain, so that various nation-states know NATO, the United States and Europeans have not removed certain options from the table.

What Conservatives Need To Do, Part II

WHAT MAKES A “CONSERVATIVE”?
We Conservatives need a plan. A Master Plan. A “platform,” if you will, in order to do one of two things:
1. Bring the Republican Party back onto track or, absent that:
2. Create a new party truly reflective of Conservatism.
Some people ask why? Why consider a Third Party? Third parties do nothing more than detract from the party with which you wish to compete or upstage!
My answer would be: Correct. More and more the Demorats and the GOP seem to be melding in thought and deed. People need a choice. If two parties truly = one party, then there appears to be room being cleared for an actual contrasting second party.
In Part One, I asked my readers this question:
“What are your top five priorities for a Conservative agenda?”
I received a host of cogent, logical responses, to include:
1. To put America and Americans first. No other country or its people will come before America.
2. Bring the jobs home, put Americans back to work.
3. No foreigners will be allowed to purchase property or businesses within the US borders.
4. Never, never amend the Constitution again, for any reason.
5. Stop “globalization” now.
6. Get out of the UN now.
7. Get out of my face and let me run my business and pay my taxes. (Ranando)
1. Feds concentrate on Security and foreign affairs and operate both for the benefit of the American People.
2. States concentrate on matters of law.
3. Local governments handle most of the practical matters.
4. Judeo-Christian principles, but not doctrines, set the social standards standards for this country.
5. Set a limit to how much money government may collect as taxes or spend. (Shoprat)
1. Protect the Nation and secure our Liberty.
2. Make our enemies pay the price of being our enemies.
3. Freedom isn’t free – make those that don’t support us pay a tariff for the wonders of our trade.
4. Enforce the rule of law at home and the law of Nations abroad.
5. End membership in the UN and every other ‘international organization’ that seeks to interfere with the Nation. (A Jacksonian)
1.Re-establish our party platform to reflect true conservatism, i.e. the same conservatism Reagan put INTO ACTION.
2. After we embrace a truly conservative platform, then we finish the fence we said we would build, along with it we need to deal with the illegals we already have here. Fix the beaurocracy, shorten the time it takes to get in, send them all back and let them come in legally.
3. Get rid of the IRS. Only pay taxes to help our defense and the military. Make it a fair tax.(RANANDO’S #2 WILL BECOME A REALITY THEN).
4. TERM LIMITS in Congress, no more forever Ted Kennedys.
5. Get rid of the McCain-Feingold law. and turn back what McCain did with the Gang of 14 so we can get our strict constructionist judges on the bench. (Rivka)

I wrote, back in “The GOP In Reflection“:

Whatever happened to the following:

– Smaller government?
– Fewer taxes?
– Adoption and abstinence?
– Affirmative civil rights access without set-asides or preference?
– “Marriage” is for heterosexual couples only; there can be otherwise “civil unions?”
– The best way to deter crime is to support current laws on the books and support a proper death penalty?
– School choice, vouchers, home schooling, voluntary prayer in school?
– No Kyoto Protocol; voluntary emissions and public compliance?
– Concerted efforts to locate and source energy sources on US soil?
– Private property ownership is fundamental to this nation?
– Continued sovereignty for the United States and self determinance absent the UN?
– Clear deliniation between the Executive, Legislative and Judicial branches; SCOTUS judges who know their jobs and are strict Constitutionalist constructionists?
– No further gun control limitations?
– Stand firm against WMD proliferation?
– Proactive fronts on the soil of OTHER nations against further events on OUR soil?
– Profiling, wiretapping, using common sense in recognition of our TRUE enemies?
– SURVIVAL OF THE UNITED STATES FIRST AND FOREMOST!
– A strong and expanded military capable of global land, sea and air mastery?
– LIMITED IMMIGRATION! Only lawful immigrants, controlled by THIS NATION, via tightly controlled borders both north and south?
– Move welfare recipients OFF the welfare rolls?
– Independence in all facets: energy, production, individual?
– Promotion of the good of Christian religious tenets?

Can we start here for a Third Party Platform?

Why Obama Can Win

Because Barack Hussein Obama is a very smart man.
He knows how to verbalize the Consummate Politician: speak eloquently, pause dramatically, ensure there is no content so as not to be pinned down on an issue that may come back to haunt at a later time.

All Lit Up

I seldom (if ever) listen to Rush Limbaugh, but happened to dial him up Monday.

I’ve not been a fan of Limbaugh for the past number of years because he seemed to be nothing but an apologist for President Bush, no matter what he did. I’ve never taken that path and always reserved the right to disagree with any action taken by the GOP or any Republican. When I perceived Rush going that direction, real or not, I shut him off. Period.

Monday, however, I noted: he got completely fired up, making some rather salient and insistent points; in a nutshell:

  • The GOP is moving progressively to the Left;
  • Conservatives are told they must consistently compromise;
  • Yet, there’s no compromise on the Left; why is that?
  • Conservatives are being left behind;
  • The GOP believes everyone will simply follow;
  • The GOP is wrong, and will suffer the consequences because:
  • Rush Limbaugh is stepping away.
I don’t think I’ve heard Limbaugh that strident ever before. He completely excoriated John McCain on any number of issues. He indicated the Democrats know that either of their candidates, Clinton or Obama, can “take it” to McCain.

He also said there are portions of the media indicating “Rush is on his way out,” evidently because he’s suddenly leveraging himself against McCain and, by extension, the GOP.

Rush Limbaugh stated that Conservatives are being asked to put aside their principles, and that there are people who will shelf their Conservatism so that McCain can bring in Liberals and Independents simply in order to win, and that McCain has made it clear that he, essentially, urinates on Conservatives.

And Rush made another point: those “independents” and “clear thinkers” who are advocating John McCain in the Mainstream Media are those who will not vote for him; their goal is to have McCain lose and a Demorat take the White House.

But make no mistake; McCain is a powerful factor. My very own father, for example, a dutifully-registered Republican, is voting for McCain on the comfort factor. My father served in WWII and Vietnam, retiring a Colonel in the USAF. He’s voting for McCain not necessarily because he knows about McCain’s voting record or what he’s been doing or saying the past few years or because he knows about any number of McCain-sponsored bills. He’s voting for John McCain because McCain was in the military, was a POW, and knows about military issues. It’s a matter of comfort and, with that, there you have McCain’s probable popularity with a bulk of Republicans.

Publicly, there are disagreements between myself and other Conservative factions.

I’ve been of the opinion that simply staying home in November does nothing but guarantee a Demorat win.

Those who disagree with me believe I’m something of a sell-out, and say the GOP needs to have a message sent to it in “clear text.” They believe, if I am correctly interpreting the message, that a true Conservative would make a stand squarely on Conservative Principles and, by not doing so, compromises Conservatism and enables the GOP to go further astray. With the necessary caveat that the price of this message, if properly sent, would be up to and including the loss of the White House.

So, considering Limbaugh’s major stance and with those other aspects in mind:

1. Is it I that am drinking the Kool-Aid?
2. If so, then what’s The Plan?
