Russia launches airstrikes inside Syria

Russian Jet FighterFox News is indicating that Russia has now launched airstrikes with Russian aircraft inside Syria.

Initial reports also indicate, according to sources, that Russian strikes are aimed where there is evidently no ISIS presence.  At first blush, this seems to indicate that Russia is doing Assad’s job for him, by attacking anti-Assad forces.

UPDATE: Fox indicates Russia is in fact using its aircraft to strike anti-Assad forces in Syria, not ISIS forces.

Further, Russia has demanded that the US leave the Syrian airspace.  So far, it has refused.

Once again, by Obama’s creation of a vacuum in all of the Middle East, the vacuum will be filled and it is becoming blindingly clear that Vladimir Putin is filling that vacuum.

Donald Trump has weighed in, as I watch this play out on Fox, and has asked: is Assad really worse than the rest of the players in Syria, absent ISIS?  He thinks not.  I’m thinking so too.

What is Mr Obama going to do in response?  Because in politics and on the world stage, you respond to words with words, and actions with actions.  With the exception that Mr Obama’s actions — when he has actually acted instead of threatening a “red line,” have solved nothing.  Further, Obama “leads from behind,” a ridiculous stance for a world power in any event.  Leading from behind simply means you are not a world power.

John Kerry is currently at the UN stating that the US is going to continue attempting to “remove” Assad, whatever “remove” means in the world of Obama.  Obama thinks you can “talk” and “negotiate” sense to the Middle East and to Muslims.  You cannot.

Kerry called on all governments to broker, through the UN, a negotiation to remove Assad.  Kerry just legitimized Russia’s presence once again the Middle East and in Syria, as he acknowledges the presence and the “need” for Russia’s actions.

Russia is there to strengthen the Assad regime, I believe.

These are Big Boy moves by Putin, knowing again that Obama is far out of his league in terms of being capable of dealing with these issues.  These are very serious moves and Putin has ratcheted up the tension and the stakes.

Worse yet, the US is saying Russia has a reason to be launching these strikes, to be present in the Middle East.  The US just legitimized this move.

I shake my head.

Putin is larfing his ass off at this point.

To Donald Trump: shave your head

Trump HairDonald J. Trump, if you are serious about your positions, about your running for president, then I would suggest this to you sir.

Shave your head.

People think that you are so entrenched in your monomanicalism that you can’t see the forest for the trees.

I can’t tell you how many people would take you more seriously if you would eschew your hair fixation — which is clearly shellacked within an inch of its life every day — and simply shave your head.  It truly is that simple.

Yes, Mr Trump, it’s your actual hair.  I agree.  We all agree.  But it’s curved and coiffed and shellacked to within an inch of its remaining life every day.

If you’re “real” and if you don’t care, and if you are sincere in your efforts to completely revamp the United States of America, your hair is a distraction.

To you.  As it certainly is to many others.  It has become its own story.  But you could be in charge of your own story.  If you but take control.

So I throw down this challenge.

Shave your head.

But you won’t.  Because your self-image is more important than your true and honest running for president.

Call me out, Mr Trump.  Make me a dirty rotten liar.

I have less hair than you do.

I marched with MLK, but I can’t protect myself

Demorat cities have been experiencing exponential gun violence not in keeping with the rest of the nation.  Why might that be?

That’s right, because good citizens who deserve to defend themselves against criminals, mostly black — and potential victims who are mostly black — cannot.

You want racism?

Live in a city ruled by Demorats.

A small solo vacation

Trek Navigator 2.0Over the numerous years, I have begun any number of book projects in terms of fiction.  I have manuscripts started on damned near every genre you can think of, to include science fiction, a trilogy of cop fiction (imagine that), suspense, mystery, western, military.

Since I now find myself with more time on my hands, having retired three months ago, I’ve decided to attempt to resume writing again.  Perhaps I can truly chug out something resembling some type of manuscript.  Perhaps something approximating a finished one.  Because, after all, you have to have something in existence if you even want to edit it.  Common Sense 101.

The interesting thing is, in the world of Tribbles and those associated with Hugh Hewitt and his radio show, there are those who are already published, like James Lileks.  Mr Lileks wrote for the Star Tribune, and now writes for Ricochet.  He has also published any number of ebooks readily available for download from Amazon.comHis website is here.  His Amazon author page is here.  If there were — as an aside — anyone who deserves their own massively syndicated radio talk show, it would be the highly talented and intelligent James Lileks.  I would encourage everyone to click on each link I’ve presented here.  And no, James isn’t paying me one red rupee for this.  You will all be richly rewarded by reading James Lileks, however.

Similarly, I have also discovered that Major Bob is in the final stages of completing his historical fiction story of WWI, edited by DaveInAZ.  Aha.  A potential editor, yes?

I almost forgot Elgin Hushbeck, who has written about Social Justice.  Which I purchased.  Because I put my money where my philosophy is.  Many people know this.

That said for background — as my wife is on a work trip to Southern California once again (for the state) — I decided to travel for a like time to the Pacific Ocean and see if a writing chord can be struck and I can’t at least get a few chapters kicked out for Heaven’s Warchild.

Which all starts with the crash of an Airbus A-380, the largest commercial aircraft in the world.  And hasn’t yet crashed.  But I determined to start there because my wife had to fly down to SoCal in a Southwest 737 in turbulence, hates to fly, and it suggested to me that she isn’t alone in her fears.  One Airbus A-380 crash could easily kill 500 or more passengers, depending upon the carrier interior seat demand configuration.  Up to 853 people could be accommodated in an all-economy class configuration.

800 potential casualties per flight from one airframe.

DSC01341-ACrashing waves and crashing aircraft.

I’m going to the ocean to write.  Right here on this same Sony Vaio laptop.  On probably the finest, most crisp, most responsive keyboard I’ve ever addressed on any confuser.

Why do I have a photo of a Trek Navigator 2.0 bicycle above?

Because it’s mine, and I’m bringing it with me in my Mercedes.

It just couldn’t be better.

“I could never handle crosswinds,” Pt II

Just as last week I featured a series of harrowing crosswind landings of commercial aircraft at Dusseldorf Airport in Deutschland, here I present something quite equally harrowing for the five hundred persons inside that thin aluminum tube.

The crosswind landing of an Emirates Airbus A380-800 at, again, Dusseldorf.

Remember folks, the pilot in an A380 doesn’t have the advantage of a yoke to grasp as on a Boeing; he’s holding your life in his left hand via a side joystick.  Even worse if he’s right-handed.  Plus, the pilot landed late on a soaked runway, hence the clouds of mist from the thrust reversers.
