Why tonight’s GOP debate might be different

Hugh Hewitt Looks Right Smiling - DDifferent from what?

Different from most every other debate.

Why?  Because someone from the Right is going to be asking the questions of the candidates.

That would be Hugh Hewitt, he of Salem Radio and of the Hugh Hewitt Radio Show, broadcasting from a secret studio “somewhere” in Southern California.

Hugh is an unvarnished and unabashed supporter of the Republicans, and is going to work alongside Jake Tapper on the second GOP debate tonight at the Reagan Library in Simi Valley (to now include Carly Fiorina), hosted by CNN.  Tapper will moderate and Hewitt will pitch the questions.

2016 GOP Presidential Candidates 8-2015Once this became known, many GOP brokers who formerly disdained any appearance with Hewitt somewhat soiled their shorts in order to line up a segment on his radio show.  As a result Hugh has interviewed Chris Christie, Jeb Bush and any number of GOP presidential contenders.  People who wouldn’t have given Mr Hewitt the time of day prior.

To include Donald Trump, who accused Hugh of throwing him “gotcha” questions.  He later called Hugh a “third rate” radio announcer.  The full transcript of that interview is here, should you wish to read it.

He doesn’t mind asking difficult questions of his guests.  He was accused of attempting to sink Dr Ben Carson as well as Donald Trump.

The truth is, they only sank themselves by not being sufficiently prepared to appear on his show.

Further, you have to be smart enough to realize that the questions Hugh asked may be remarkably similar to the questions he’ll pose tonight.  That was called “show prep.”

This Politico article makes an interesting observation

Donald Trump’s Grand Inquisitor

Hugh Hewitt drew Trump’s ire with a smart question. On Wednesday night, the conservative talk radio host will be ready for round 2.

by Todd S. Purdum

When the motor-mouthed mogul next takes the stage with the ten nearest rivals who have failed for months to trip him up—much less get traction against him—Hugh Hewitt will be the only person in the debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library who has already managed to get the best of Donald Trump.

That distinction—earned ten days ago when Hewitt stumped Trump in an interview on his weekday radio show about the names of major world terrorist leaders, and the differences between Hamas and Hezbollah—means that Hewitt, who will serve as one of three debate questioners, may end up emerging as one of the central characters in the ongoing reality TV show that is this year’s GOP presidential primary. After all, it was Trump’s tangles in the last debate with Fox News’s Megyn Kelly that led days of news stories after the last debate—and Kelly and Trump only sparred once. What could a second round with Hewitt mean?

How did Hugh Hewitt find himself sitting in a chair asking questions at this debate?

“I lobbied incessantly,” with GOP chairman Reince Priebus, Hewitt explains during a break in taping his daily three-hour “Hugh Hewitt Show,” which has aired for 15 years on the conservative Salem Radio Network, co-sponsor with CNN of the debate. “For the general principle that conservative journalists be included as a counterbalance to mainstream media’s left tilt.”

So will this be a repeat of the Trump-Hewitt clash earlier this month?  Or will it be Trump vs Everyone Else On Stage?

No matter what, the questions posed will have punch, relevancy and intelligence.

Over a third of jobs gone in 20 years

McDonald's Ordering KioskBecause of technology.

The initial focus of job elimination will be on unskilled workers primarily because of the recent insistence on a minimum “living wage” of $15 for jobs that were never meant to be anything more than entry-level introductory jobs.

One of the first targeted forms of job elimination will be at what are termed “fast food” type restaurants, where a kiosk can somewhat readily streamline the ordering process.  Whereas a human employee once touched the CHEESEBURGER icon, you will be able to do that yourself.  These various kiosks are already in operation in Europe and here in the US.  McDonalds readily admits they are a response to $15 minimum wage demands.

Of course, there will be “unforeseen consequences” to this wage increase demand — that I readily and easily foresee.  More on that in a moment.

From the UKIndependent.com:

Robots are going to steal the jobs of chefs, salespeople and models, researchers say as they unveil full list of likely robot professions

by Andrew Griffin

Scientists have created a huge, in-depth analysis of what jobs are under threat from robots — with salesmen, chefs and even models all in the firing line.

Researchers have assembled a full list of all the things that robots are good and bad at, and so what jobs they are likely to take. In all, about 35 per cent of jobs are likely to have been taken on by robots in the next 20 years, the researchers said.

Some professions — such as therapists, personal trainers and teachers — are safe from the coming robot apocalypse. But those that require repetitive skills, the manipulation of data or manual entering of information could see their jobs taken away.

The first question you must ask: is this me?  If you have one of those delineated jobs, that means you likely inhabit an unskilled or semi-skilled job that isn’t long for this earth.

That also means you need to refocus your attention on upgrading your job skills or perhaps moving into a different job altogether.

Cops and firefighters, you’re somewhat safe for now.  But many more Intersection lights and speed cams are coming.  Some people want to eliminate the police traffic stop altogether, as well as pursuits.

Some traits don’t immediately lend themselves to a robotic takeover.

Those traits include creative endeavours, such as writing, entrepreneurship or scientific discovery.

Will or can a robot take your job?  Find out here.

For the time being, jobs that demand a high degree of human interaction are safe.

But that brings us back to unskilled and/or repetitive jobs.

Like those that illegal aliens used to fill — and jobs the likes of which are being eliminated due to, in Fornicalia, the drought — and in other places by the more rapid introduction of various forms of technology because of increased business costs.

In other words, the argument supporters of illegal Mexican (and other) invaders make on behalf of those invaders — that they do jobs others won’t or can’t — isn’t holding water any more.  A greater number of jobs in the agricultural or various service fields are being mechanized.  This isn’t speculation; it’s occurring right now.

Therefore, the “need” for more illegal immigrants in order to fill the increasing number of unskilled jobs is a specious one at best, more and more unnecessary with each and every passing week and month.

For real Americans, the writing is on the wall: adapt and educate yourself or become superfluous.

For illegals, we don’t need your unskilled labor.  We don’t have enough room to accommodate the unskilled true American citizens in the labor force already.

Which translates to: illegal invaders these days mean only to acquire their portions of American Free Cheese, their own piece of the Entitlement Pie.

Their future is to take and not to produce.

Adding unskilled Syrians who bring only more Islam to the equation?

That is stupidity beyond stupidity.

It couldn’t happen to a nicer Sanctuary City

SF Sanctuary CityWhy is it that Leftist cities seem to be self-immolating?

Cities like Baltimore, Ferguson, Chicago, New York, Detroit?

And now San Francisco?

From Breitbart.com:

Report: Murder Arrests up 55%, Rape Arrests up 370%, in ‘Sanctuary City’ San Francisco

by Awr Hawkins

Arrests for murder in San Francisco jumped 55% and arrests for rape jumped 370% between 2011 and 2015, during the time the city expanded its sanctuary city policies, according to new figures obtained by Judicial Watch.

San Francisco has been a sanctuary city for nearly 30 years, and since 2009 has incrementally added sanctuary policies to the point that Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez–although five times previously deported and a seven-time convicted felon–was still in San Francisco to shoot and kill Kathryn Steinle on July 1 on the city’s Pier 14.

But numbers uncovered by Judicial Watch show that Steinle’s death–as tragic and shocking as it was–remains but one piece of a larger picture of skyrocketing arrests for murder and rape in the city.

Let’s take a moment to examine the obvious.

America continues to be inundated by illegal invaders from Mexico.  Perhaps the physical numbers are not precisely what they were a year or so prior, but they are even more significant and have a greater lasting impact because of the types of persons involved.

That is to say, those invading from the south are no longer comprised primarily of Juan Valdez and his hardy burro.  They are now Francisco “Asesinato” Valdez, “Snuffy” Rodriguez and Rodrigo “Viper” Martinez of MS-13 and the Los Zetas.  They are bringing that mindset to the United States — along with the various immigrants whose minds are unstable to begin with.  In other words: not the finest or best of Mexico, but the most base dregs and the most violent.  Why?  Because the jobs for unskilled workers in the US are dwindling by the year.  Because our Free Cheese is so yummy.  And because we’re not simply tolerating being overrun by the unfit, we’re asking to be overrun by the unfit.

San Francisco experiencing problems?  Murder, rape, violent crime going up?

Oh no.  It couldn’t happen to a more craven sanctuary city.
