Obamacare: what next?

ObamaKare 5Here, Megyn Kelly interviews Brit Hume:

“What we’re discovering is that buying insurance is a little more complicated than we thought.”

— Barack Hussein Obama

Really?

This is the same man declared to be the smartest, most insightful person in politics today?  The man whose legacy, as he wishes, is Obamacare?  And because it’s his “showpiece” we’re to believe he had no idea that Americans would lose their coverage?  We’re to believe he had no idea how “complicated” is the purchase of health insurance?  Who had no idea the website was tanking because it had a political “go” date instead of an “it’s ready” date?

This is the same man who demanded insurance carriers conform to Obamacare, and now demands the insurance carriers not conform to Obamacare.  The same man who can, by dint of a verbal decree, change the ACA as he wishes, at the drop of a hat.

This is the same man who proclaimed that the insurance policies you once had were crap, were junk, were harmful, were dangerous — and now, wants you to have those same policies BACK?  Does anyone think that insurance carriers are focused and/or concerned about retrograding?  Does anyone think that insurance carriers can change the policies, in 30 days, that it took them 3.5 years to re-craft?

What the hell?

“When your enemy is on fire, don’t just stand around and watch, throw some gasoline on him.” ~ Andrea Tantaros on The Five

And with that, there you go.

A naked takeover of 1/6th of the entire national US economy at the behest of all the Demorats and none of the Republicans.

Obamacare came by Dictatorial Fiat, then and now.  Mr Obama has NO Constitutional authority to make ANY of these changes.

Obama’s sycophants think there’s still really nothing very much wrong.  Check Debbie Wasserman Schultz here.

I wrap up today’s insanity with the comment from another insane person, Nancy Pelosi, who told us we had to pass the ACA so we could know what was in it.  Pelosi said “I’ve never met anyone who liked their insurance plan.”

Of course.  That’s certainly justification for forcing, now, millions of Americans off their current health plans.

I could never, in a thousand years, have written fiction like this.  Except that it’s not fiction.  It’s happening.

An interesting exchange on my Veterans Day post:

I wrote about Veterans Day here, back on Monday, November 11th.

Since then, there has been an interesting exchange in the comments section of that post, which I just now read today.

First, there was this comment from an individual called the bystander:

Comment 1Then, Joe, who reads regularly and chimes in occasionally, covered my six and replied to the bystander:

Comment 2Apparently the bystander, now the new and improved the bystande, had much more to say, and today responded to Joe and to myself:

Comment 3I find this interesting in one vein and yet deeply disturbing in a number of others.

It is interesting insofar as an individual feels compelled to respond to what is customarily a puff piece on a particular holiday (whose sole job is to honor those who have served this nation) with excoriation for slights he’s never suffered, and certainly not at my hands.

It is disturbing, however, in that this individual doesn’t believe he is a part of The Greatest Generation and, that he cares not for the appellation.  I find that curious.  According to his words, though, he did not fight in WWII and apparently was too young to do so, I can only conclude.

Further disturbing is the fact that the bystander believes that my attempt to honor my father and my two uncles, who all served in WWII — and by dint, my grandfather, who served in WWI, and all those tens of thousands of persons who served their country — is somehow shallow, superficial and insincere.  Even more disturbing, that it is totally unwarranted.

As, of course, the bystander clearly speaks for each and every member of The Greatest Generation, by overwhelming proxy.

Except I suspect this is not truly the case.

In the manner of attempting to keep this discourse as civil as possible, sir, I did not come to your home and pee in your pool.  I have not knocked at your door in order to insult you personally and diminish your work and your service.  I am wondering why you may believe that coming to my blog and insulting my attempt to honor people who deserve honor, and to insult myself as well, is worthy of your time.

In reply to some of your points: obviously, having served in law enforcement for nearly 40 years isn’t virtuous.  At most, you served for four years.  And yes, I have been shot at.  And yes, I have had to shoot.  One person is no longer walking on this planet because of me.  I worked for the FBI, was a sworn US Marshal, and have worked for my current department for 36 years.  I worked Patrol, and also as an investigator in Theft, Robbery, Child Abuse, Sex Assaults, Warrants and Homicide.  Every action I take is scrutinized in courts, sometimes for weeks.  Everyone watches and everyone second guesses.  I’m sure you operated in that climate where everyone second-guessed your every action as well.  My guess is: not so much.  Your ROEs were just a tad bit less restrictive than mine.

Overall, of course, you’re correct.  I don’t understand.  I have no concept of brotherhood or service or camaraderie or bravery or fidelity or duty or sacrifice.  I’m just a stupid cop.  As you write: “Handing out traffic tickets and pulling over dumb niggers for DWB is not combat. Law enforcement is to combat as jerking off is to sex.”

So yes, I had the opportunity, via the technology of WordPress, to eliminate your comments or allow them to stand.

I allowed them to stand for a very salient reason: I am using you as an illustration.  And that is this: age and experience does not always make for compassion or wisdom or understanding.  My mother-in-law, just before she passed away, said that some persons are put on this planet as an example of what not to do.

I allowed the comments to stand because you readily made yourself appear the racist bonehead — you certainly didn’t require my assistance for that.

And you, sir, are truly an excellent illustration for my points.

Thank you kindly.

“Democratic Unity On Obamacare Is Collapsing”

Obama DictatorFrom the BusinessInsider.com:

Nov. 13, 2013, 10:35 AM

Another non-red state Democrat — this time Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) has signed on to become a co-sponsor on legislation from Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) that would require insurance companies to continue offering their existing health care plans.

Really?  Can we believe this?

Merkley joins Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) as surprise, bright-blue state Democrats that have become co-sponsors of the bill over the past day. Together, they amount to the most high-profile non-red state Democrats to buck party lines on the Affordable Care Act.

Feinstein?  Actually turning against the Demorats?

Among other things, the “Keeping the Affordable Care Act Promise Act” would “grandfather” in all health insurance plans that existed as of Dec. 31, 2013, not March 23, 2010, and force insurance companies to continue to offer a number of plans that they have been forced to cancel under the Affordable Care Act.

Landrieu’s bill goes even further than one proposed in the House by Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.), which would allow insurers to grandfather in plans that existed as of Jan. 1, 2013. The Landrieu bill would force insurance companies to grandfather in those plans.

A very telling paragraph in the story:

The other co-sponsors of the bill are red-state Democratic Sens. Kay Hagan (D-N.C.), Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), and Mark Pryor (D-Ark.). Like those three (but not Feinstein) Merkley is up for re-election next year.

Ah.  There we go.  The re-election cat is stuck in the toilet.

Cat ToiletIt’s political.  It’s about a re-election.  It’s about not sounding as stupid as the rest of the Demorats sounded whilst embracing Obamacare in a wondrously-cuddly fashion.

It’s about not sounding as STUPID as Nancy Pelosi sounded whilst bleating this bit of lying trauma:

Because, frankly, in the history of America, no other single individual has a verified quote that can be immured as that idiotic.  And that’s a lot of history, ladies and gentlemen.

The White House and Senate Democratic leadership have not offered specific comment on Landrieu’s bill.

But let’s briefly examine the proposed bill for a moment, shall we?

Please allow me to posit the obvious, following The Logical Extension.

If people can keep their current policies, and the doctors they like, then what’s the point of having ANY portion of ObamaCare continue at all?

Let’s throw aside the curtains and remove the shadows.

Obama and his Leftists want to totally tank this country and then start over.  They want to ruin its economy, its standing, its power, and transfer that power to themselves beginning with — the government.

I ask: is the worm beginning to turn?

U.S. Gives Illegal Aliens $29 Mil in Rx Meds

From JudicialWatch.com:

As if it weren’t bad enough that American taxpayers annually dole out huge sums to educate, incarcerate and medically treat illegal immigrants, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) spent tens of millions of dollars to give them free prescription drugs.

In all, CMS, which is part of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), blew $29 million to cover Medicare Part D prescription drugs for 4,139 “unlawfully present” individuals that did not qualify for the benefit, according to an HHS Inspector General report. This occurred during a two-year period between 2009 and 2011, according to the agency watchdog.

If you think that’s bad, earlier this year CMS paid $91.6 million to health care providers to cover 2,600 ineligible illegal aliens. A 1996 law specifically prohibits illegal immigrants from getting federal healthcare benefits such as Medicare and Medicaid yet it continues to occur, despite audits exposing the violations. How? Because CMS doesn’t have policies and procedures that could enable it to detect such “improper payments,” according to an HHS Inspector General report released in January.
