Boehner: will he blink and walk away with empty hands? Is the GOP “rushing to surrender?”

My last information indicates there is a meeting occurring now between Obama and Boehner, Cantor, McCarthy, Sessions, Upton, McKeon, Hensarling, Walden, Rogers, Issa, Camp and Ryan.

Too early to call it.

The poll, now, that allegedly and “reportedly” has the GOP quivering:

NBC/WSJ poll: Nearly two-thirds say not raising debt ceiling would be a serious problem

With House Republicans set to meet with President Barack Obama to discuss raising the debt limit and ending the government shutdown, a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows that 63 percent of Americans believe refusing to raise the debt ceiling would be a real and serious problem.

Is this a real issue, or is it another American Media Maggot-created heavily-sampled Demorat biased poll?

NOW:

Harry Reid Won’t Negotiate Until GOP Opens Government

Updated 4:25 p.m. | A House GOP offer to pass a six-week debt ceiling extension without reopening the government isn’t enough to jump-start stalled budget talks, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told reporters at the White House.

After meeting for about an hour and a half with President Barack Obama, CQ Roll Call asked Reid if he would be willing to negotiate on reopening the government as the GOP has demanded.

“Not going to happen,” Reid replied and walked off.

The White House backed Reid in a readout provided by the press office.

29 active members have died on active duty in the past days during the government shutdown.  With benefits denied.  And that was craven and cowardly and worse.

Finally: some Americans fight park closures

Joshua Tree Natl Park Shut Down 10-13From the WashingtonTimes.com:

We’re not gonna take it! Americans use 1st Amendment to storm shutdown barriers

By Stephen Dinan

Taking their lead from the veterans who first pushed through the barricades to visit the World War II Memorial, Americans nationwide are defying the federal government shutdown, tossing aside traffic cones and toppling wooden fences to get to national parks and other federal lands that the administration has deemed out of bounds.

As the shutdown hits the middle of its second week, civil disobedience has become a sensation. Some proudly post online photos of themselves overcoming the government’s obstacles, and others use more subtle ways to make their point.

Oddly enough, the same thing I said I would have done this past Monday:

Now here is what BZ would, of course, do: drive over some cones, pull out his camera, a tripod, a video cam, a table, a chair, sit down and have lunch at my leisure.  When finished, I would also leisurely take any number of photographs to my satisfaction.  Then, just prior to leaving, I would merely “displace” said blocking cones to an unknown point down an adjacent steep hill.  Mission accomplished.

To continue from the article:

The owner of the Pisgah Inn along the Blue Ridge Parkway, who last week announced that he was defying the park service’s shutdown order, said it was a matter of principle.

“If not now, when? If not me, who?” Bruce O’Connell told The Washington Times.

It’s nice to see that a smattering of Americans still have balls.

Long Island Middle School Bans Footballs, Other Recreational Items

Wimp KidFrom CBSNewYork.com:

Concerns About Injuries Prompted Ban, Port Washington Officials Say

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — Worries about injuries at a Long Island school have led to a surprising ban.

As CBS 2’s Jennifer McLogan reported Monday, officials at Weber Middle School in Port Washington are worried that students are getting hurt during recess. Thus, they have instituted a ban on footballs, baseballs, lacrosse balls, or anything that might hurt someone on school grounds.

I swear, ladies and gentlemen, it’s another new abrogation every day, dealt by Leftists, sworn to continue the pussification of our country.  I can think of no other word.  An attempt to turn our boys into little girls, and anything physical into something evil.

But the students will have no such option anymore. They were just informed that during recess, football is out and Nerf ball is in. Hard soccer balls have been banned, along with baseballs and lacrosse balls, rough games of tag, or cartwheels unless supervised by a coach.

And there you go.  Football, out.  Tag, out.  Lacrosse, out.  Baseballs, out.  And God forbid any little girl or boy should do an UNSUPERVISED cartwheel — may they rot in public school festering hell.

But Port Washington schools Supt. Kathleen Maloney said the change in policy is warranted due to a rash of playground injuries.

Oh my God, how terrible.  Playground injuries.  Scraped knees.  Bruised elbows.  Perhaps even the occasional broken bone.  HEINOUS!  UNACCEPTABLE!

Without helmets and pads, children are much more susceptible to getting hurt, experts said.

Excellent point.  Children should wear helmets, chest plates, hockey gloves, football knee pads and motocross back braces if they wish to play tag.  They could fall.  Gravity could occur.

Long Island Jewish Medical Center emergency room director Dr. Salvatore Pardo said he has been seeing “head injuries, bumps, scrapes; worried about concussions.”

Oh my God.  A bump!  Stop the presses!  School children get BUMPS!  Even worse: school children using recreational equipment may be subject to SCRAPES!

All this whilst little Mohammad in Syria, sodomized by strangers, living off scraps from the Muslim Brotherhood, forced into a Madrasa, taught how to fire an AK-47, is twice as tough — at age 11 — as most current US Army soldiers.  And as US soldiers already know in the Middle East about Muslim men: women are for procreation, men and boys are for pleasure.

I am so, so glad I never had children.  How do parents dare to expose their children to any public school venue at all, these days, if they want a fit, sane, intelligent, creative and sound-thinking bit of progeny?

Former Congresswoman Tells Syrian TV that America Started Syria’s Civil War

Cynthia McKinneyReally?

Because Cynthia McKinney had such veracity as an elected Congresscritter, eh wot?

She won my “Racist Moonbat of the Week” award on April 1st of 2006.  To wit:

The incident occurred on Wednesday, when McKinney allegedly struck a Capitol Police officer after entering a House office building and refusing to stop at the request of the officer, who apparently did not recognize the congresswoman.

Congressional sources told FOX News that the officer, Paul McKenna, signed an affidavit swearing that McKinney responded to what he described as standard security procedures by punching him in the chest with a cell phone in her hand.

An assistant to Rep Thaddeus McCotter, R-Mich., witnessed the incident and gave a statement to Capitol Police, sources told FOX News. The witness, whose name is being withheld, told police that she saw McKinney hit a police officer. The witness was unaware that McKinney was a congresswoman.

So she’s not only a racist, but violent as well.  Nice to know.

Former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney has done some crazy things in her life, but what she did last month really takes the cake.

Appearing live on Syrian television, McKinney said that Syria’s Civil War was part of a plot created by the United States shortly after 9/11 (video follows with transcript and commentary):

And imagine that.  Zionism.  The Jews.  Clearly responsible.

Another of Assad’s useful idiots: Cynthia McKinney praises Syria’s ‘free health care’

The Lede: Writing on Facebook from Damascus, Cynthia McKinney, a former Democratic Congresswoman from Georgia, praised Syria for its “free health care.”

Ms. McKinney, a liberal activist who traveled to the Syrian capital as part of a delegation led by former Attorney General Ramsey Clark, posted the update late Wednesday, after meeting with President Bashar al-Assad. In addition to Assadcare, she noted, Syrians living under the Baathist dynasty also “enjoy free education.”

She concluded her brief report with kind words for Ogarit Dandash, a young Assad supporter who had offered herself as a human shield to defend Syrian government military installations from American air strikes. As Ms. McKinney explained, Ms. Dandash “founded ‘Over Our Dead Bodies,’ a group of young people who climbed atop Mount Qasioun and dared U.S. bombs to target them. They are still there in defiant resistance to any war against Syria. Mount Qasioun should be the site of a peace party, not bombing strikes.”

And what is the former Congresswomyn doing now, these days, having enjoyed her brief tour from 2005 to 2007?

She was a Green Party Candidate in 2008.  Go figure.
