School Bans Even Secular Easter Images; Doesn’t Want To Offend Anyone

MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) Teachers at Heritage Elementary School in Madison, AL were informed Monday their plans to have an “academic egg hunt” with their kindergarten and second grade students would need to be scrapped.

The school’s principal, Lydia Davenport, informed staff no activities related to or centered around any religious holiday would be allowed in the interest, she says, of religious diversity among students.

There is nothing biblical about Easter bunnies or colorful plastic eggs or synthetic iridescent grass clippings, but the perceived need to modify the student egg hunt has many parents upset; less upset, they say about the need to preserve religious freedom and more about their students’ freedom to simply be a kid.

One Heritage parent wrote in an email response:

“I don’t get upset about too many things, but this upsets me. What is this world coming to? I am a Christian and proud to announce it. But even non-believers enjoy a good egg hunt. Kids need to enjoy being kids.”

“We had in the past,” explains principal Lydia Davenport, “a parent to question us about some of the things we do here at school, so we’re just trying to make sure we respect and honor everybody’s differences.”

And there you go.

When ONE person “objects,” then EVERYthing must come to a screeching halt.  Because, God forbid — or “Goddess forbid” — when ONE person objects, there clearly is a problem with perspective.

My immediate response: then all secularists should ensure they do NOT take days off for any number of heinous and oppressive days.  Work the holidays.  Work every day.  Stick to your guns.  Harder work, and more of it, Secularists.

The true arrogance of Leftists finally emerges publicly: government knows better than YOU

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Sunday: Sometimes government does know best. And in those cases, Americans should just cede their rights.

“I do think there are certain times we should infringe on your freedom,” Mr. Bloomberg said, during an appearance on NBC. He made the statement during discussion of his soda ban — just shot down by the courts — and insistence that his fight to control sugary drink portion sizes in the city would go forth.

And there you have it.  Leftists in government are inherently smarter than you, more highly educated than you, prettier, dress finer, and are more than willing to impose their feelings and emotions upon you simply “for your own good” — no matter prior laws, no matter such niggling little things like the US Constitution or that quite troublesome Bill of Rights.

Yes, frankly, Leftists are simply better than you, me, all of us.  So they’ll simply do what they will with the Proles, the Serfs, the Groundlings, because we are too stupid to be “allowed” to run our own lives.

The only thing Leftists want from us?  Money.  Fork over the cash and shut the fuck up.

Starbucks CEO: If You Support Traditional Marriage, We Don’t Want Your Business

At the Starbucks annual shareholders meeting on Wednesday, CEO Howard Schultz sent a clear message to anyone who supports traditional marriage over gay marriage: we don’t want your business. After saying Starbucks wants to “embrace diversity of all kinds,” he told a shareholder who supports traditional marriage that he should sell his shares and invest in some other company.

I say: take Starbucks up on their challenge.  Frankly, to me, their coffee tastes like shit; it’s too damned harsh and acidic.  But I suspect that many people patronize their outlets solely because they have the ability to “drive in.”

Take Starbucks up on their hurled gauntlet.  Kick their Leftist asses to the curb.

Unless, of course, caffeine takes priority.  Then you’ll be another drone and puppet for Leftists.  Good for you, The Brain Addled.  The Simple.  The Idiots.

Just a bit more:

According to a report by Forbes, Schultz seemed a bit intolerant of any Starbucks shareholders who opposed gay marriage for moral or religious reasons. During the meeting, shareholder Tom Strobhar (who founded the Corporate Morality Action Center) pointed out that after the company voiced its support for a referendum backing gay marriage in Washington state, a boycott by traditional marriage supporters caused a drop in sales revenue. Schultz told him “You can sell your shares in Starbucks and buy shares in another company” if he did not agree with the company’s pro-gay marriage stand.

They’re taking a stand.  You can too.  I won’t be purchasing any more coffees or trinkets for my wife at Starbucks.  Simple as that.

Cyprus told: take bank levy or leave euro

Cyprus Cartoon 4What many Americans don’t know is this: Cyprus is a major locale for many individuals wishing to stash cash in a more relaxed tax atmosphere than their host country.

That said, from the UKGuardian:

Wealthy Russians stand to lose billions of euros in Cypriot banks under draconian terms being hammered out on Sunday night in Brussels to prevent the Mediterranean tax haven becoming the first country forced out of the single currency.

Negotiations got underway amid a hardening of the stance held by the International Monetary Fund and Germany, who insisted that depositors must take the hit for bailing out the eurozone’s latest crisis economy.

There were signs of panic in Cyprus as a €100 (£85) limit was imposed on ATM withdrawals, with more stringent capital controls to follow if a deal is reached.

The European Central Bank has threatened to cut off funds propping up Cypriot banks on Monday, precipitating the island’s exit from the euro if agreement was not reached on Sunday night at the emergency meeting between eurozone finance ministers, the president of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, and the bailout troika of the IMF, European Commission and the ECB.

Again, Socialists in the Obama Administration are awaiting the outcome.  They can’t wait to devise a way to do the same thing domestically.

But now: is Cyprus “saved?”
