Petraeus testifies: “al Qaeda talking points removed”

So: who changed the talking points?

Former CIA Director David Petraeus stoked the controversy over the Obama administration’s handling of the Libya terror attack, testifying Friday that references to “Al Qaeda involvement” were stripped from his agency’s original talking points — while other intelligence officials were unable to say who changed the memo, according to a top lawmaker who was briefed.

Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told Fox News that intelligence officials who testified in a closed-door hearing a day earlier, including Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Acting CIA Director Mike Morell, said they did not know who changed the talking points. He said they went out to multiple departments, including the State Department, National Security Council, Justice Department and White House.

Petraeus’ testimony both challenges the Obama administration’s repeated claims that the attack was a “spontaneous” protest over an anti-Islam video, and according to King conflicts with his own briefing to lawmakers on Sept. 14. Sources have said Petraeus, in that briefing, also described the attack as a protest that spun out of control.

If the “talking points” were changed from an al Qaeda direction to that of a shabbily-produced YouTube video available for viewing literally months before the attack on the Benghazi Consulate — and they were not changed by Petraeus or the CIA — then who changed them and why?

I believe the bulk of thinking Americans can draw their own logical conclusions: for the sake of politics.

Mr Obama has done his level best to downplay terrorism.  The “T” word was not even allowed for a time.  Additionally, if his military sequestration was to have any justification and validity, then there must be fewer tumultuous events involving violence and terrorism in other countries, instead of more.

Friday, testimony from former CIA Director Petraeus indicates the CIA knew “almost immediately” that the Benghazi attack was linked to an al Qaeda-sympathizing group, and wasn’t the result of some spontaneous popular uprising over an inane video as typified by the Obama Administration.

Now — grasp this if you will — because UN Ambassador Susan Rice is being questioned due to her non-stop attendance on all the news shows the weekend immediately following the Benghazi Consulate assault (indicating the sole cause as spontaneous outrage over a so-called “offensive” video), those persons are sexist and racist:

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican senators’ angry criticism of U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice over her initial account of the deadly Sept. 11 attack in Libya smacks of sexism and racism, a dozen female members of the House said Friday.

Apparently, however, those “dozen female members of the House” are unfamiliar with the meaning of racism, as any non-public-school educated child knows that the terms is inapplicable in these circumstances.

It all makes sense now; the timing of the outing of Petraeus’s affair, an attempt to discredit him at a time when hearings were near.

Imagine that.  The clouds are parting.

TEL AVIV – A missile launch site in the Gaza Strip was set up by Hamas just half a block from a mosque and children’s playground, according to aerial photographs provided to KleinOnline by the Israel Defense Forces today.

Israel yesterday carried out a surgical strike of the site in question – a Fajr-5 missile launch pad established in the heavily populated Zeitoun district of Gaza to fire long range rockets into the Jewish state.

The photograph of the launch site, posted above, shows a children’s playground and a mosque located about a half a block away as well as two civilian factories and a gas station also within a half a block radius.

I summarize: you cowardly, motherless Islamic bastards.

War in the Gaza Strip?

First, rocket fire issued from the Gaza Strip at the hands of Hamas operatives into Israel, for days.

Then more than 50 Israeli air strikes were launched into Gaza, one of which killed Hamas leader Ahmed al-Jabari (his vehicle below) on Wednesday.

Egypt proceeded to back Hamas — no shock.

A Hamas rocket then killed three Israelis on Thursday, north of the Gaza Strip itself.

Israeli officials ordered all residents living within 25 miles of the Gaza Strip to stay indoors, in shelters or in safe rooms. Israel also dropped leaflets overnight into Gaza warning residents to “stay away from Hamas and other terror organizations, operatives and facilities that pose a risk to their safety.”

If drawn out, the Israeli campaign could paralyze the crowded Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip, trigger barrages of retaliatory attacks from the organization and its regional allies, and upend already cool relations between Israel and Egypt.

Is this the match flare that lights the true candle?

UPDATE: MISSILES IN TEL AVIV

Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak signaled that Israel is ready to escalate its military operations against Gaza after at least one long-range missile was fired at Tel Aviv by Palestinian militants.

The missile attack and the volume of fire in general toward Israel “is an escalation and there will be a price to pay,” Barak said on Channel 2 television yesterday. It was the first such attack on Israel’s commercial hub since Iraqi missiles in 1991 during the Gulf War.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio: winning another election

Joe Arpaio just won –at age 80 — another term as Sheriff of Maricopa County in Arizona.

With that in mind, he posits:

Defiant and reflective, 80-year-old Maricopa County, Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio told Breitbart News after winning re-election that he has a message for President Barack Obama: granting amnesty to illegal immigrants is unfair to legal immigrants.

Ladies and gentlemen, in my 40+ years in law enforcement — federal, state and county — I can’t tell you how much I would have loved to have worked for Sheriff Joe Arpaio in my career.  His fundamental honesty, his integrity, his clarity, has diminished my past Sheriffs into dust:

– Scott Jones — I’m awaiting his potential “legacy”
– John McGinness — the greatest disappointment in the history of my department
– Lou Blanas
– Glenn Craig
– Robbie Waters

They were all sucking sycophants for votes.

The last “honest” Sheriff my county had was Duane Lowe.  He drank, he suspended deputies, he made edicts; if you pissed him off he remembered you.  But he brought my department into the 20th and then the 21st century.  God bless him.  He typified “Old School.”

The others: a sad commentary.  They were mostly empty suits with one exception: Lou Blanas actually cared about his deputies.

That said:

“I wish the president would invite me to the White House,” Arpaio told Breitbart News. “We’ll have some wine and beer, and light up cigars.”

When it comes to potential amnesty provisions being discussed in Washington, Arpaio said he is against amnesty because, to him, it is a fairness issue the elite media and career politicians in Washington do not understand. 

“It’s a fairness issue, nobody thinks about that,” Arpaio said. “Why should we reward people who come here illegally?” Arpaio noted that “everybody around the world is waiting for years to come here” and “they don’t all come sneaking in.” “I’m an old-time guy, I just use common sense,” Arpaio said.

At age 80, the last of a dying breed.

We need more Joe Arpaios as Sheriffs and Chiefs.

We won’t get them.

Wealthy Dump Assets Amid Worries About Going Over ‘Cliff’

This might be called a “clue.”

For many of the wealthy, 2012 is becoming a good year to sell.

They’re worried about the “fiscal cliff,” which is when tax cuts expire and spending cuts are set to go into effect at the end of the year.

Fearing an increase in capital gains and dividend taxes, many of the rich are unloading stocks, businesses and homes before the end of the year.

Wealth advisors say that with capital-gains taxes potentially going to 25 percent from 15 percent, and other possible increases in the dividend tax, estate tax and other taxes, many clients are selling now to save millions in taxes.

“Under almost any scenario, it makes sense to take the gains this year,” said Gregory Curtis, chairman and managing director of Greycourt & Co. “Clients aren’t selling willy nilly. But if they can and they have a huge gain, they’re selling now.”

If the Bush-era tax cuts expire, taxes on capital gains would revert back to its previous rate of 20 percent from its current 15 percent.  Another 5 percent may be added from health-care levies and changes in itemized deductions, bringing the rate to 25 percent for many high earners.

2013:

If we survive December 21st of 2012, then 2013 is a new issue entirely.

January 1st, ladies and gentlemen.  At this point: Taxmageddon.
