It means that we are already dooming our children to failure by valuing their esteem instead of their knowledge, overvaluing their sense of place in the world, minimizing the importance of discipline and learning — all whilst undermining courage, sacrifice, rugged individualism, bravery, risk-taking.
Too many basketball players, drummers, flutists, painters, rappers, sloths, parasites, complainers, defeatists, poets, social workers, attorneys, philosophers, singers, celebrities — instead of teachers, scientists, plumbers, doctors, mechanics, inventors, mathematicians, nurses, electricians, people interested in trades, people interested in hard science, people who are PRODUCERS.
This is currently a defeatist educational track for our children.
There may be some actual consequences to over-riding the wishes of the American people and ramming unwanted bills and philosophies down the throats of lawful citizens:
U.S. Sen. Harry Reid must pick up far more support from crossover Republicans and independents to win re-election, according to a new poll that shows him losing to the GOP front-runner in a full-ballot election with eight contenders and a “none of these candidates” option.
The survey of Nevada voters commissioned by the Review-Journal shows Reid getting 37 percent of the vote compared with 47 percent for Republican Sue Lowden, who would win if the election were today, while the slate of third-party and nonpartisan candidates would get slim to no backing.
“It’s up to Reid to change the dynamics of this race,” Nathan Gonzales of the Rothenberg Political Report said. “He’s going to have to completely demonize the Republican in the race, and he’s got the money to do it.”
Boxer, who’s seeking a fourth term this fall, “has been there too long,” Sargent said. “All politicians have a shelf life.”
Those are troubling words for Boxer, who won in a 20-point landslide six years ago but now faces the fight of her political career. The nation’s economic woes – particularly intense in hard-hit California – and a difficult electoral year for Democrats have created a rough challenge for the 69-year-old liberal Democrat.
* Backers hope for Senate vote in June or July * Measure could affect states’ climate control activities (Adds reaction from American Petroleum Institute) By Richard Cowan
WASHINGTON, April 15 (Reuters) – A long-awaited compromise bill to reduce U.S. emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases blamed for global warming will be unveiled by a group of senators on April 26, sources said on Thursday.
The legislative language to be sketched out in 11 days, according to government and environmental sources, is being drafted by Democratic Senator John Kerry, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham and independent Senator Joseph Lieberman.
Backers of the environmental bill hope the unveiling will pave the way for the full Senate to debate and pass a measure in June or July if the compromise attracts enough support from a group of moderate Republicans and Democrats.
“Moderates.”
“Compromise bill.”
“Republican Senator Lindsay Graham.”
Mr Obaka and the DC Elites are not YET through fleecing you, emptying out your pocketbooks.
We are being pushed against a wall, ladies and gentlemen. And the Leftists will NOT stop.
The Tea Party movement launched one year ago, in response to the unprecedented expansion of government by President Barack Obama and congressional liberals, a massive increase in spending that will create economy-crushing fiscal burdens for future generations of taxpayers.
So how have the supposedly objective media covered one of the biggest political stories in recent years? MRC analysts reviewed every mention of the Tea Party on the ABC, CBS and NBC morning and evening newscasts, Sunday talk shows, and ABC’s Nightline from February 19, 2009 (when CNBC contributor Rick Santelli first suggested throwing a “Tea Party” to protest government takeovers) through March 31, 2010. Among the major findings (in part – BZ):
■ Given its demonstrated influence, network coverage of the Tea Party has been minuscule. Across all of their major programs, ABC, CBS and NBC aired a mere 61 stories or segments over a twelve month period, while another 141 items included brief references to the movement. Most of that coverage is recent; the networks virtually refused to recognize the Tea Party in 2009 (just 19 stories), with the level of coverage increasing only after Scott Brown’s election in Massachusetts.
■ Such coverage is piddling compared to that lavished on protests serving liberal objectives. The Nation of Islam’s “Million Man March” in 1995, for example, was featured in 21 evening news stories on just the night of that march — more than the Tea Party received in all of 2009. The anti-gun “Million Mom March” in 2000 was preceded by 41 broadcast network reports (morning, evening, and Sunday shows) heralding its message, including a dozen positive pre-march interviews with organizers and participants, a favor the networks never granted the Tea Party.
■ While network reporters have strained to protect left-wing causes (such as the anti-war movement) with the outrageous acts of individual protesters, they were quick to smear the entire Tea Party based on isolated reports of poor behavior. On the night of the final vote on ObamaCare in March, for example, ABC’s Diane Sawyer cast Tea Partiers as out-of-control marauders, “roaming Washington, some of them increasingly emotional, yelling slurs and epithets.” CBS’s Bob Schieffer also cast a wide net, accusing “demonstrators” of hurling “racial epithets” and “sexual slurs,” and even conjured images of civil-rights era brutality: “One lawmaker said it was like a page out of a time machine.”
A Rasmussen poll released Monday found more Americans identify with the Tea Party groups than with President Obama.
According to the survey, 48 percent of voters said the average Tea Party activist is more aligned with their views on major issues than the president. Forty-four percent said Obama’s views are closer to theirs.
Tea Party supporters are wealthier and more well-educated than the general public, and are no more or less afraid of falling into a lower socioeconomic class, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.
Nearly 9 in 10 disapprove of the job Mr. Obama is doing over all, and about the same percentage fault his handling of major issues: health care, the economy and the federal budget deficit. Ninety-two percent believe Mr. Obama is moving the country toward socialism, an opinion shared by more than half of the general public.
Last year alone, the State Department sent taxpayers tabs totaling nearly $300,000 for alcoholic beverages — about twice as much compared to the previous year, according to an analysis of spending records by The Washington Times.
Thanks, Mr Obaka. Thanks Hillary.
A Republican couple were beaten senseless and the woman had her leg broken after leaving a Southern Republican Leadership Conference in New Orleans. As one person on Bobby Jindal’s Facebook wrote: “If you can’t beat the message, beat the messenger.”
One little bright spot, courtesy of cj at An Angry American (George Lopez on the Larry King show):
LOPEZ: Let me say this. Everyone is trying to build a wall. They don’t know what the answer to immigration. I will give you the answer, Larry King, to immigration. If Sarah Palin wins and runs for president in 2012, I have a, on a reliable source, as the head of all the Latinos, we will voluntarily go back to Mexico if she becomes President of the United States. There it is.
Great news, George, great news! Remove all the illegal Mexican invaders.
TEA Partiers discriminated against by the DEM/MSM? TEA Partiers not a bunch of uneducated, drooling redneck hicks?
JERUSALEM – Israeli defense officials said Wednesday they believe Hezbollah has Scud missiles that could hit all of Israel, a day after Israel’s president accused Syria of supplying the Lebanese guerrillas with the weapons for the first time.
Israeli officials say the introduction of Scuds could alter the strategic balance with Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militia that battled Israel to a stalemate during a monthlong war in 2006.
President Shimon Peres, speaking in Paris, charged that Syria is playing a double game, talking about peace, while “it is delivering Scuds to Hezbollah to threaten Israel,” according to a statement from his office.
And yet, at the same time, our Mr Obaka is seemingly slapping down Israel and trying to negate her ability to defend herself.
I submit this to you: the fuse is burning at both ends in the Middle East with, literally, Israel in the “middle.” You cannot box a nation in like this and expect that it will not defend itself.
“Defending itself,” unless you’ve just come back from an interstellar trip, includes the possibility of Israel utilizing battlefield or tactical nukes. And though Syria is, in itself, a Bad Player in ME politics, the background player continues to be Iran. Via Russia in linkage.
Syria says it wants peace. And yet it provides long-range SCUD — Russian-sourced — missiles which were shipped to Hezbollah forces inside Lebanon. The range of these missiles is roughly 435 miles. They would place Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and all points of Israel within range. The only purpose of these missiles would be to target Israel. Nowhere else.
BUENOS AIRES, April 14 (Reuters) – A reactor being built by Russia at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear power plant is scheduled to open in August, the head of Russia’s state nuclear corporation said on Wednesday.
“The launch is scheduled for August. We’re on schedule,” Sergei Kiriyenko told reporters in Argentina during a visit. “Bushehr doesn’t threaten the regime of nonproliferation in any way. No one has any concerns about Bushehr.”
Hugely important questions come to my mind:
– Why is Russia making an announcement of this nature on behalf of Iran? – Why cannot Iran speak for itself? – How involved is Russia in the nuclear — or, perhaps, more appropriately — the overall defense of Iran? – If one engages Iran, then, is one potentially engaging Russia?
Middle Eastern radical Islamist forces continue to push the envelope, encouraged and funded by Russia.
Israel has been forcibly placed into the position where it will likely have to go “Osirak” on Iran, due to proximity and danger. And Orirak will be, comparably, a walk in the park.
If Israel engages Iran, is it potentially engaging Russia? And if Israel engages Russia, where will the United States draw its position?
I suggest this video may provide a clue, wherein Mr Obaka says: “Whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower.”
“Whether we like it or not.”
After my BP went 210/190, I rewrote my response to this video any number of times. As I am about to publish this, it is 6 pm on Wednesday. I am listening to trains howl uphill out my window on the original Central Pacific route. Perhaps this is a distraction or an unnecessary amount of information, but I write this in order to somewhat assuage and minimize my first responses to that quote and the accompanying video.
Ladies and gentlemen, please excuse the next few lines, if you will.
“Whether we like it or not, we remain a dominant military superpower.”
Mr Obaka, I have not heard a similarly defeatist line from an actual governmental employee alleged to be in charge of any defensive posture. Ever. Period.
At this point, I completely disavow you as my president. You are now an enemy. You are an enemy to me, to my neighbors, to my friends, to those in my state, to everyone in this nation.
You do not believe in this nation. You do not believe in its inherent Good. You do not believe in its history, its strength, its courage, its sacrifice.
You desecrate the grave of my father. You spit phlegm on his grave. You make his sacrifice inconsequential. And that of hundreds and hundreds of thousands of soldiers and law enforcement officers and emergency responders who gave their lives in the name of The United States of America.
You’ll never explain your sentence here. You believe you are above explanations or accountability or responsibility. You would sacrifice my nation for others. You would sacrifice the power this nation has acquired in the past 100 + years for your political and philosophically defeatist goals.
I have rewritten this post, now, a fifth time. I have deleted all the expletives I’d first penned.
You have shown your True Stripes, sir.
And you’ve clearly drawn lines: you and your philosophy and your administration vs the US Constitution and We The People.
You are the enemy now, sir. You are the enemy.
My holy God. I have never seen my nation struck this low.
I don’t know what else to say. I am at a further loss for words.
I conclude with Israel: Obaka will step back. If nukes are involved, it will be the fault of Israel. It is in his genes.
