My Questions About the GOP:

From The Washington Times:

Immigration effort lacks 2nd backer from GOP

I would ask: why is there even ONE Republican backer for illegal invader amnesty?

And therein lies the problem. In a number of ways the GOP has become similar to the Demorats. I determine that they many times lack courage and strength. They certainly lack unity. And all kowtow for the almighty “next campaign” and its mandated cash sourcing.

Continuing:

As President Obama and Senate Democrats push to pass an immigration bill this year, one key ingredient is still conspicuously missing: a second Republican to co-sponsor the legislation.

Most Republicans considered likeliest to join Sens. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, and Lindsey Graham [my emphasis – BZ], South Carolina Republican, in writing a bill either have taken a pass or are still on the fence. Key figures say the country does not have the kind of consensus needed to tackle the issue.

So, Republican Senator Lindsay Graham believes that legalizing millions of illegal invaders is a good idea, in keeping with the Porous Mexican Border Edict currently serving Mr Obaka oh-so-very-well — as in, doing his best to continue to import barbaric Mexican violence into our America?

That, ladies and gentlemen, is perfectly illustrative of the fundamental problem with the GOP.

Another fundamental problem:

FEC report details lavish Republican spending, including nearly $2,000 at Voyeur West Hollywood

Updated 3:04 p.m.
By Dan Eggen
The Republican National Committee gave nearly $2,000 to a Southern California GOP contributor for meal expenses at Voyeur West Hollywood, a lesbian-themed California nightclub that features topless dancers wearing horse-bits and other bondage gear, according to newly filed disclosure records.

So the RNC wonders why I and many others no longer contribute? And all this under Michael Steele’s so-called “leadership”? And why I and many others will not be contributing further to the RNC?

It’s this:

The GOP and, by extension, the RNC talk a nice game about fiscal conservatism, about doing the right thing, about ethics, about the basic tenets of Conservatism. . .

They can talk the talksometimes . . .

But they apparently quite FAIL to walk the walk.

The GOP is proffered the perfect time to present unity, strength, courage, and to take a leading role in the future path of this country. The Demorats are, literally, handing themselves over, in many ways, on a silver platter to the GOP.

And yet the GOP flusters and staggers and pulls stunts like the above, squandering away money from well-meaning contributors.

They may as well sock you in the teeth.

I’m not having any more of it.

Lindsay Graham wants amnesty.

I’m not having any more of it.

Actual Conservatives know what to do with this country. They can detail its path, they can make suggestions, they can point the way.

I ask: how many Republicans are true Conservatives, with a capital C, these days?

I submit: damned few.

They’re too busy removing their spines, gushing over checks, kissing too many arses of the Demorats.

Where to contribute, then, you might ask:

Write checks to your specific, warranted local candidates.

And to hell with the RNC.

Christmas Bomber: NOT The Only One Involved?

Have the authorities been purposely lying to the American and world public with regard to the man arrested for the attempted bombing, Christmas Day, of Northwest Flight 253?

First, the man’s own father brought Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian who attended the University College in London for engineering, to the attention of authorities, saying he suspected his son was a terrorist. Then AFA was on a watch list but — apparently — not quite the “right” watch list. Then there were messages provided to authorities to be on the lookout for a man just like this performing an act similar to this.

And is there a third man involved?

What is real? What can you trust? Whom do you trust?

It is my affirmed belief that you, the American public, are being purposely kept in the dark with regard to very clear, specific and overt attempts made to inflict another wound on the carapace of the United States. Besides being a so-called “target-rich environment” for Islamists, this nation is in the throes of economic and societal chaos. Add another large, successful terrorist attack and what would you have?

I’m confident you can do the math.

ADDITIONALLY:

This begs the question of better airport screening. And, when you think about it, airport screening really is the last line of defense against terrorism in the air. You are now putting your life, literally, at the last possible moment, in the hands of persons whose training is what I might term “less than stellar.” Ahem.

But why do we place so much emphasis on this point in the process? Is it because we are incompetent at file sharing? Because we can’t make one system or one agency or agencies talk to each other? Or, as I suspect, is it because we still refuse to admit that there are persons from specific countries, areas, of certain nationalities or religions, that purposely should be scrutinized under a microscope before they enter this country, much less one of our aircraft?

Your 91-year-old grandmother is not a terrorist. Teddy Kennedy was not a terrorist. My father was not a terrorist. Yet all of these people and more were shunted aside for specific and intrusive searches by machines and persons before boarding American aircraft on what was termed “random” searches so as not to appear oppressive or specific in their targeting.

People are already tired of taking off their shoes, taking off their belts, being unable to even pack a shave or hygiene kit. The FAA and TSA and other alphabet agencies are telling passengers in a thin aluminum tube when they can or cannot piss, when they can or cannot have a bowel movement, and — now — that passengers have to remain seated with trays up and nothing in their laps for the last hour of flight. No. I’m not joking.

How long is it going to be before Americans say: “Me, flying? Uh, no thanks.”

Hey, how about this, my American government: how about you do your damned jobs BEFORE you let people on planes?

My, now there’s a concept.

How about you have every fucking agency talk to every other? How about you actually share information instead of becoming information HOARDERS? How about you even delete some agencies and centralize duties, programs, personnel, orders and missions?

But no; we’re still not ready for that. The American government and the American public have collective memories of a few days at best. I’ve called it “Historical Alzheimers.” And, as poet and philosopher George Santayana once said: “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Apparently, we are all condemned to another 9/11-type event in this country.

Believe it.

Sunday Reflection: Church Or Heart?

I was listening to a radio program last week — it really doesn’t matter which one — and one caller indicated that religion was a matter of heart. The host indicated the opposite: that it was necessary to hold, yes, your religion in your heart but it was additionally and equally, if not moreso, necessary to hold your religion in a church.

That made me think, for a moment, about my place and how I hold my own personal religious feelings.
I very rarely speak or write about my religion or my beliefs. I’m of the opinion that my relationship with God primarily involves myself and my Lord. Individually, I’m not a “joiner” per se; my life doesn’t quite revolve around the approval of other humans and it never has. I tend to be a loner by nature and my friends — I’m not quite sure that I really have even one very close external friend at this point in my life. I have many acquaintances; that is true. I’d have to say my wife is my best close friend, amongst other roles.
It’s only within the past, say, five years or so that I’ve even taken time to consider my relationship with God. Predominantly, prior, He didn’t even really “factor.” Time and events will do that.
But perhaps my eyes were most recently opened when one of my friends at work, now retired, came back from a European vacation and presented me with an object he’d acquired at the Vatican. It was a cross, pictured above, blessed by Pope John Paul II in May of 2004. Since the moment he gave it to me, I’ve worn it every day. Not because I’m such a pious or sanctified or good man; but instead because it forces me, it reminds me, every morning when I look in the mirror, to remember my place in the grand scheme and to actually try to be a good man.
No, I don’t belong to a church nor do I attend weekly. But neither did Jesus, per se. Wherever he went, he carried his Father.
Where do you carry your beliefs? Church or heart?
