Family faces deportation to Germany, where they risk fines, imprisonment and loss of children for homeschooling.

In an Orders list just released, the US Supreme Court has refused to grant certiorari to the petition filed by the Romeike family seeking asylum because of persecution of homeschoolers in Germany.

The result is that the family faces deportation back to Germany, where they will risk fines, imprisonment, and loss of their children if they continue homeschooling.

But here’s the unspoken part of the equation: the Romeike’s are Christian and religious, and they will be deported.

The Romeike’s have been here since 2008, seeking political asylum.  They fled, essentially, Deutsch persecution for daring to homeschool their children.  Because of their insistence upon homeschooling and their refusal to turn their children over to the government, they faced fines, custody and — literally — the loss of their children

They wanted to live in a country where they could raise their children in accordance with their Christian beliefs.

The Romeikes were initially given asylum, but the Obama administration objected – claiming that German laws that outlaw homeschooling do not constitute persecution.

Really?  Imagine that.

On Monday, the Supreme Court declined to hear the Romeike’s appeal – paving the way for the Christian family of eight to be deported.

Had the family stayed in Germany, where homeschooling is illegal, they would have faced the prospect of losing their children. Like the Pilgrims, they fled their homeland yearning for a place where they could be free.

Perhaps it’s time for this:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

And those who seek freedom from an establishment of a religion in their own country, are they now persona non gratis?  When we have, literally, millions of persons who do not respect our fundamental border rights in the slightest?

The US will let Yemenis and Syrians into the country who default the United States by stealing SSI and Social Security benefits for themselves and for the dead and for children who are no longer in the nation, but the US won’t allow a mere eight more people into the country who seek actual and true religious freedom.  Is it because the Romeike family is Caucasoid?  Is it because they procreate and have a large family?  Is it because they are religious?  What is it?

Is this what we’ve become?  The complete antithesis of our founding?

Right now is your chance to be heard. The IRS has proposed new regulations that will suppress citizen groups from discussing issues and actions that our nation’s political leaders take in D.C.

We must remember, the IRS admitted to inappropriate targeting of groups because of their conservative or religious beliefs. They are now trying to write such abusive tactics into the tax code.

Obama: ‘The Duck Dynasty family seems like a pretty fun bunch’

In a People magazine interview about to his newsstands on Friday, President Obama said the “Duck Dynasty” family seemed like a “pretty fun bunch.”

“The Duck Dynasty family seems like a pretty fun bunch, so I can see how that would be pretty fun,” he responded when asked who’d he’d rather spend the day with — the “Duck Dynasty” family or Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, The Hill reported.

Let’s be frank: Duck Dynasty represents everything that Leftists despise: monogamy, loyalty to one’s spouse, religion, capitalism, success, independence, reverence for one’s country, firearms, the Second Amendment and roughly anything that has to do with the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

So: Obama would like to hang out with the Duck Dynasty crew.  Ooopsie.

What was it that Phil Robertson actually said in the GQ article?  This:

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he told GQ in its upcoming issue. “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

So apparently those with homosexual behavior were offended, as were those who engage in bestiality, those who are adulterers, idolaters, prostitutes, the greedy, drunkards, slanderers, swindlers — in other words, the bulk of politicians in DC.

And Leftists.

Here is a perfect example: Piers Morgan “tweeted” a few minutes ago:

Read that again: Just as the 2nd Amendment shouldn’t protect assault rifle devotees, so the 1st Amendment shouldn’t protect vile bigots.

Right, Piers.  The US Constitution just really doesn’t mean a thing.  It’s a terrible and corrupt piece of paper that should be scrapped, burned.  And, as you clearly do not “Grok” the concept of a United States of America, I submit you should scurry back, post-haste, to your Guildford, UK birthplace.  Because that United Kingdom is such a wonderful and embracing place these days, is it not?  SO much better than the US.

But here’s the terrible truth: the First Amendment doesn’t exist to protect speech of pablum.  It exists to protect challenging speech.  And the Second Amendment doesn’t exist to protect just hunters.  It exists to protect basic citizens and their right to defend themselves from not only hostile, violent and tumultuous intruders, but from its government as well.  Know your history.

And for one brief moment Obama liked the Robertsons — until they conflicted with his predilections.

But: I bet the Robertsons really are a fun bunch.  And they have the ratings to prove it.
