Obama: completely and utterly incompent, confirmed by Syria:

Obama SCOAMF BookMr Obama drew his verbal red line regarding the use of chemical weapons, and now has used his own decree to paint himself into a corner.  And anyone can read Popular Mechanics.

He stated that there would be a price to pay for the use, by Syria, of gas attacks on civilians.  Following that, the UK Parliament bowed out and decided not to back PM David Cameron.

The UK Parliament produced a slap in the face to Mr Obama, but he was still going in — until he wasn’t.

On Saturday, he decreed that he was going to seek consensus for an Syrian incursion from Congress.

And the Demorats are not behind Mr Obama on this.  Even Putin’s foreign minister exhorts DC to behave like grown-ups — which it is not.

Complicated enough for you?  Enough zig-zagging and indecisiveness for you?  Obama has no coherent policy for the Middle East.  He has stated he “leads from behind” and this underscores that phrase.  The UK Guardian is on-board with Obama being an imbecile.

Continuing to prove that Mr Obama is nothing but a SCOAMF — Stuttering Clusterfuck of a Miserable Failure.

Sorry.  That video is so good I simply couldn’t resist.

P.S.
I continue with my opinion: stay the hell out of Syria.  Let the two sides, both evil by nature, no innocence on either side, slaughter each other.

Former Assistant Secretary of Defense K.T. McFarland once said:

“The cardinal rule in Washington is that if you have two enemies fighting each other, do not try to step in and stop them.”

Truer words were never spoken, particularly applied to today’s situation regarding Syria.

Obama on Syria: cowardice, indecision or a head-fake?

SyriaToday, we are not in Syria nor have we bombed.

I suspect because, primarily, the UK bowed out of this option.

Cameron’s nonbinding motion was defeated 285-272 and he conceded after the vote that “the British Parliament, reflecting the views of the British people, does not want to see British military action.”

So, is Mr Obama a coward, is it indecision or is it a head-fake?

Syria: Obama’s showdown

Syria & Surrounding StatesVarious leaks on Wednesday indicate that America will begin bombing Syria some time on Thursday — to include drones, cruise missiles and long range bombers.

This information was revealed in many major media newspapers on Wednesday, to include such details as the length of time — three days — and some of the targets themselves.  Means and manner.

How stunningly incompetent is this — ?  To secrete information as to pre-announce a strike on a sovereign nation in a leaked-media fashion?

Even White House flack Jay Carney has said that DC is not interested in “regime change.”  Meaning: DC is not interested in unseating Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as he rests in Damascus.

I ask: if you, Mr Obama, are uninterested in going to the core of the problem, then why make an incursion or even an event at all?  What will it truly accomplish?  If there is no regime change, then there is no point.

Only one thing: a redemption of sorts for a president who opened his mouth too early and drew a line — a red line — in the sand.  If Mr Obama hadn’t proclaimed his sphincter dribble he wouldn’t feel compelled now to confirm his Narcissistic Personality Disorder.  Mr Obama’s so-called “policy” is arbitrary and incoherent.

And where are the anti-war protesters storming DC because of Obama’s sabre-rattling?

Oh, right: to question Mr Obama in any way would be racist.

But I’m questioning:

Where is the Congressional sign-off or authorization on this?  The president is acting unilaterally, just as he accused — as a senator — George Bush of doing.

In DC today, Obama said he has not yet “made a decision” on Syria.  If so, one of two things are occurring here:

1. He is lying, or
2. He is incredibly, staggeringly incompetent

In any case, just who — what side — is America supporting in Syria, and why?

No one in DC can answer that one simple question.  Except: does Obama realize he appears to be supporting al Qaeda?

Joe Biden already said, in 2007, that an attack on any country absent Congressional approval is an IMPEACHABLE OFFENSE:

Really?  And how do you feel now, sir, absent Congressional approval involving Syria?

Not so much, sir?  A hypocrite, sir?  Lying between your teeth, sir?  Politics trumping all, sir?

You’re simply a badly-hair-plugged buffoon, and way overpaid.  As are the rest of your DC cohorts.  On roughly both sides of the aisle.

Because you have no consequences.  You have no responsibilities, no answering, no culpability, no liability, no exposure, no imperative.  No ACCOUNTABILITY.

The droids in DC are answerable and accountable to no one.

Their only concern is to acquire a check and to cash said check.

People can die.  People have died.  But no one cares and no one sees.

I have never been as disappointed in my country as now, under the reign (not “leadership”) of Barack Hussein Obama, because he is NO leader.  He is: Barry Soetoro.

A major week this will be.

Sequestration: putting things in perspective

Let’s face it, Mr Obama in DC is doing his level best to ensure that the maximum “hurt” is placed upon the Taxpayers, Proles, Groundlings and Serfs due to the heinous “sequestration” that he first demanded.  A “hurt” on dolemites and parasites?  Not so much.

Initially, Mr Obama was stupid enough to state in public, heard by southern Fornicalia Representative John Campbell, that White House tours were halted at the request of the US Secret Service — way back on March 5th.  This was because of their vast expense: $16,000 per week.  The White House spends $16,000 per week on door-shutting and toilet-flushing. This declaration was puerile and immature, in its best light.

Because, after all, at its foundation, Mr Obama quite isn’t responsible for anything.  He is simply a small and miniscule leaf caught in the cascading torrent of the Evil Republican waters!  Poor him!

Uh, no.  Mr Obama, that’s called a LIE.  YOU, sir, could have — at any time — made a request that, in the interest of the public and “for the children,” the White House tours were inviolate.   Untouchable.  Sacrosanct.  But no.  You purposely chose to close the tours and let the USSS be the public “sacrificial lamb” because you, sir, have not the slightest molecule of scruples or morals or balls.  It was time to make the “children” “suffer” and “hurt.”  Good job with that, sir.  Mission accomplished!

Today, it was announced that 149 smaller FAA-controlled aircraft towers would be shut down due to that heinous “sequestration” word.  Again, an attempt to hurt the Little People.

Because, after all, the Big People “still have theirs.”  Their Big Jets.  Ooooh, such nice and big jets!  Quiet!  Powerful!  Such nice jets with no interference from Groundlings or Proles or Serfs or Taxpayers with their insignificant little and bothersome questions!  The DC Superiors still have their nice and big and powerful and private jets!

Air Force One Mini Series: On Board Air Force One NGCUS - Ep Code: 4206Look at the big plane!  People in suits!  Big cars!  Red carpets!

Shall the DC Elite ever have to fly in public jets?  No, hok-ptui!  No, I say!  They are above mixing and mingling with the Terribly Unwashed!  How could you ever think of making such a demand??!!?

They need their free Senate Barbers!  They need their free Private Credit Unions!  It is a rich and important history that the perfumed princes and princesses receive their due share!

After all — they are much better than you or me!

And rest assured our DC politicians squander not one damned penny of your hard-earned taxpayer cash!

VP Joe Biden and his entourage deserved every bit of its $459,388.65 hotel bill rung up in London this February.  We must remember: it takes a lot of detailed and concerned care to maintain such delicate hair plugs as displayed on the pate of Mr Biden.

Further, Mr Biden’s one-night stay at the Hotel Intercontinental Paris Le Grand tabbed up to $585,000.50 (fitty-cen’ for the Concierge tip from Mr Biden).

As with you, I am clearly thinking: this is indeed money well spent!

Screw the damned kids.  They just don’t know where the priorities need to be set in the current administration.

The supposed “end of retail” — ?

Vice President Joe Biden says that Americans are no longer worried about the economy:

“But all kidding aside, I think the American people have moved — Democrats, Republicans, independents.  They know that the possibilities for this country are immense.  They’re no longer traumatized by what was a traumatizing event, the great collapse in 2008.  They’re no longer worried, I think, about our economy being overwhelmed either by Europe writ large, the EU, or China somehow swallowing up every bit of innovation that exists in the world.  They’re no longer, I think, worried about our economy being overwhelmed beyond our shores.”

Americans are no longer worried about the economy?  Really?  You think that’s true?

I think that’s not just a fabrication, but a bald-faced LIE.

Retail is — on many levels — starting to become moribund.

Check this graphic from TomSullivan.com:

Retail -- The End of Retail StoresYou can see that music stores are apparently the most greatly impacted with employee and store outlet loss, followed by camera and computer stores.

I’m sure you can see the results of retail outlet closures in your own community — no matter where you are, on the east coast, the west coast, north or south.

The retail paradigm is changing, and it is changing not unlike the replacement of the horse with the car, or the steam locomotive with the diesel-electric locomotive.

So-called Mega Malls are changing; so are regular malls.  Stores are closing.  Chain stores are closing.

You are responsible.  I am responsible.  And yet, I certainly very much miss my local Borders book stores.  They closed.  There are only two Barnes & Noble stores in Sacramento — the capital of Fornicalia — and both of them are incredibly inconvenient for me.  Yet, I go there, because that’s how I become aware of new books.

I can see them, I can hold them, I can smell them, I can read their covers, suss out their basic premise, and scan a few pages to see if I like the writing itself.

My Tower Records store closed.  Tower Books closed.  Virgin Records closed.  It was a HUGE store at Arden Fair Mall.

I step back: there was a small and wonderful music store in Grass Valley, on Mill Street, in the mid-1990s, where you could walk in and sit at a counter and ask to see a specific CD.  You could hold it in your hand, check out its cover, place the CD into a player and, with headphones donned, listen to the content.  If you liked it, you bought it.  I was generally the oldest bastard in the place, where the chicks were tattooed and pierced and dyed but here is where I found out about the groups Material, Bill Laswell, Bill Nelson, Deep Forest, Blue Man Group, and any number of artists who otherwise wouldn’t have been displayed on my musical radar screen.  My musical expanses were challenged and exploded.  I loved it.

But — moreover — what does the “end of retail” mean for younger people?  I expect: much.

From TheAtlantic.com:

We see a large and growing gap between unemployment and the employment-population ratio. There are numerous micro explanations here.

One possibility, however, is that the relatively weak growth in shopping center employment relative to retail sales since 2000 and especially recently is driving down overall teen employment levels.

However, because teenagers are especially suited to shopping center employment they are dropping out of the labor force in response. That is, the End of Retail is causing a permanent shift in teenage employment because there are no substitutes for retail jobs.

This is a true structural downturn because it means that the production function is changing such that the productivity of teenage labor cannot meet the reservation wage.

When that happens a factor of production simply goes out of use. It also implies that for a time the economic gains from productivity enhancements will be muted. E-commerce means more efficient shopping but because we are not repurposing teenage labor but losing it completely, the measured gains are less than they otherwise would be.

Retail work — for me, possibly for you — was essentially a Rite of Passage in the 60s and 70s.  You worked for a retail store and you learned how to deal with people and you learned how to work with a boss and you learned how to work with a time card and you learned how to show up at a specific time or you simply wouldn’t get paid.

You learned how to open a store, or you learned how to close a store.  You learned how to prep a store for the next day.  You cleaned up.  You mopped the floors.  Or you learned how to prep the register with cash for the coming day.  You learned how to make a night deposit.  You learned how to make change.  With no calculator except that of your brain.

I worked for the JC Penney store on Watt Avenue.  I knew 35mm photography.  I sold the greatest amount of cameras.  I helped my customers.  I cleaned their lenses, I told them how to change their ISO, I sold them SX70 cameras.  I worked in retail and I worked on a very basic and meager salary but with commission.  My commission was generally the greatest of everyone else, for the three months I worked there.

Those days — these days — are apparently dying.

Amazon and any number of .com websites are making it so.

Any thoughts of yours?  What are you seeing — if anything — in your community?

Where you live — is retail taking a hit?
