Seymour Hersh Alleges Obama Administration Lied on Syria Gas Attack

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh has dropped yet another bombshell allegation: President Obama wasn’t honest with the American people when he blamed Syrian President Bashar al-Assad for a sarin-gas attack in that killed hundreds of civilians.
In early September, Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States had proof that the nerve-gas attack was made on Assad’s orders. “We know the Assad regime was responsible,” President Obama told the nation in an address days after this revelation, which he said pushed him over the “red line” in considering military intervention.
But in a long story published Sunday for the London Review of Books, Hersh — best known for his exposés on the cover-ups of the My Lai Massacre and of Abu Ghraib – said the administration “cherry-picked intelligence,” citing conversations with intelligence and military officials.
That was, if you recall, the predicating event that Mr Obama wanted to use for an incursion into Syria including placement of “boots on the ground.”
Mr Hersh writes (from the London Review of Books):
Barack Obama did not tell the whole story this autumn when he tried to make the case that Bashar al-Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack near Damascus on 21 August. In some instances, he omitted important intelligence, and in others he presented assumptions as facts. Most significant, he failed to acknowledge something known to the US intelligence community: that the Syrian army is not the only party in the country’s civil war with access to sarin, the nerve agent that a UN study concluded – without assessing responsibility – had been used in the rocket attack. In the months before the attack, the American intelligence agencies produced a series of highly classified reports, culminating in a formal Operations Order – a planning document that precedes a ground invasion – citing evidence that the al-Nusra Front, a jihadi group affiliated with al-Qaida, had mastered the mechanics of creating sarin and was capable of manufacturing it in quantity. When the attack occurred al-Nusra should have been a suspect, but the administration cherry-picked intelligence to justify a strike against Assad.

Author: Military ‘purge’ meant to weed out officers who won’t fire on Americans

On Wednesday, The Blaze reported that nine senior flag officers have been fired by the Obama administration this year alone, leading some to believe that a “purge” is underway. On Thursday, Dr. Jim Garrow, a renowned author and humanitarian who was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, told Examiner.com in an exclusive interview he believes it’s part of the effort to weed out those who won’t swear loyalty to President Obama and obey orders to fire on American citizens who refuse to give up their guns.
Dr. Garrow said the president is looking for officers who will ultimately swear loyalty to him and blindly do as he says rather than follow lawful orders.
From there, he explained, it’s not too much of a stretch for those officers to fire on U.S. citizens who refuse to obey gun confiscation orders.
“Obama is basically saying ‘obey me’ rather than the lawful orders,” he said.
“It all has to do with breaching the Constitution,” he added.
According to Sara Carter, commanders who spoke to The Blaze say the administration “is not only purging the military of commanders they don’t agree with, but is striking fear in the hearts of those still serving.”
Setting up the bowling pins, as it were. Lining up and identifying the generals and admirals whose only interest is sticking up their index digit to see which way the wind is blowing in order to keep their positions, their car, their driver, their government-paid home and the incredible deference shown them due to rank.
The situation with the military is so bad an unidentified Pentagon official told The Blaze that even “young officers, down through the ranks have been told not to talk about Obama or the politics of the White House.”
“They are purging everyone and if you want to keep your job — just keep your mouth shut,” the official reportedly said, asking to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to speak on the matter, Carter added.
In other words, not only gutting our military but gutting its ability to think independently outside of DC. Creating an atmosphere not of respect but abject fear.
In January, Dr. Garrow wrote on Facebook that President Obama wants military leaders who will fire on U.S. citizens.
“I have just been informed by a former senior military leader that Obama is using a new ‘litmus test’ in determining who will stay and who must go in his military leaders. Get ready to explode folks,” he wrote.
And be prepared for decorated soldiers to speak up:
Retired U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Paul Vallely weighed in on the situation.
“Obama will not purge a civilian or political appointee because they have bought into Obama’s ideology,” he told The Blaze. “The White House protects their own. That’s why they stalled on the investigation into fast and furious, Benghazi and Obamacare. He’s intentionally weakening and gutting our military, Pentagon and reducing us as a superpower, and anyone in the ranks who disagrees or speaks out is being purged.”
An interesting concluding sentence to the article:
Perhaps this explains why Obama has recently taken to calling the armed forces “my military.”
“My military.”
Sadly, the American Electorate is no smarter or in possession of a collective memory greater than that of Dug:
Ask yourself a question: if you were a tyrant with NPD, cognizant of the fact that an ill-informed electorate placed you into office — twice — wouldn’t you want to gut the American military so that it reflected your feelings and Communist teachings ranging from your mother, your mentors — think Frank Marshall Davis, Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, Saul Alinsky, Bill Ayers — ?
Let me get down to a few more fundamental brass tacks, if you will.
Obama and his sycophant Leftists want to gut our military and reduce military pensions and care — things the federal government utilized in order to get young men and women to sign up initially. ROE’s are ridiculous. Military men and women with actual honor and courage are being forced to leave. Some civilians are deciding it isn’t worth the effort considering the current treatment of veterans.
Concurrently, the salaries and pensions of cops are being cut with, at the same time, ROE’s becoming more and more stringent.
What happens when you give a war, and no one comes?
What happens when the intruder is coming to your door and no one responds?
Actions have consequences.

President Obama rejected the notion that the IRS’ targeting of Tea Party groups was illegal — or even improper — during his interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Thursday.
Obama was at American University to sell his flailing healthcare law to the young people upon which the insurance exchanges heavily rely. As promised, Matthews allowed him to make his pitch with no tough questions or pushback.
But the interview became interesting when the Hardball host asked why Americans were growing increasingly skeptical of government. Obama noted that the media never seems interested in government success stories. “When we do things right, they don’t get a lot of attention,” he said.
A wonderful little dismissive comment in the last paragraph:
President Obama later passed blame for his failures onto his cabinet agencies — claiming that “somebody somewhere at this very moment is screwing something up” — and repeated the nauseating platitude that “government’s not somebody else. Government’s us.”
With Mr Obama it’s always the same: seldom is he ever responsible for any failures within his administration. But more importantly: if the IRS’s purposeful targeting of Conservative groups was a non-issue, then why did this occur:
Lois G. Lerner, the woman at the center of the IRS tea party targeting scandal, retired from the agency Monday morning after an internal investigation found she was guilty of “neglect of duties” and was going to call for her ouster, according to congressional staff.
And why did the interim IRS commissioner get fired?
