Feds now taking names of gun-parts buyers

A federal raid by agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives on a San Diego gun-parts store chain has prompted criticism that the primary purpose of the operation was to collect the names and addresses of customers.

Despite a temporary restraining order, ATF agents obtained a search warrant and raided four Ares Armor stores over the weekend, according to San Diego’s KSWB-TV.

What the agents wanted were the stores’ computers, he wrote.

The ATF, which went to a judge privately to obtain the warrant, said it was investigating alleged violations of federal firearms laws that stemmed from the sale of a new plastic version of the 80 percent lowers of AR-15 rifles.

Building a rifle with specific versions of the 80 percent receivers is legal, the TV report explained. But the ATF said the polymer lower receiver appears to be manufactured differently with two parts, making them a firearm and illegal to sell.

But perhaps this is the crux of the biscuit:

The idea of collecting names and addresses of gun owners has been a fear of Second Amendment supporters since President Obama took office in 2009. They cite a historic pattern of governments that intend to confiscate guns establishing gun registration as a first step, to identify the owners.

Further, your loving federal government forcing you to become a felon in your own nation, because you stupidly cling to your ridiculous “gawd” and “gunz”?  Perish the thought!

Except when the threat becomes reality:

In Connecticut, a law recently was passed requiring owners of certain firearms to submit their names, addresses and fingerprints. Hundreds of thousands refused, and now the state is faced with the possibility of having a large segment of its working population classified as felons. A similar issue is developing in New York state.

This, of course, on the heels of the BATFE’s operation Fast and Furious — which resulted in the killing of USBP Agent Brian Terry — by a weapon that was allowed to flow into Mexico specifically by the BATFE.  The man who personally killed Brian Terry — is he here?

One bottom line?

In the San Diego case, the local Fox affiliate reported customers were getting nervous.

“I’m on that list,” one said, “and I’m waiting for the knock on the door to tell me they are here to remove my Second Amendment rights.”

That could never happen here, though.

CBO Study: Health care overhaul will cost 2.3 million full-time jobs

WASHINGTON (AP) — Several million American workers will reduce their hours on the job or leave the workforce entirely because of incentives built into President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, the Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday.

That would mean losses equal to 2.3 million full-time jobs by 2021, in large part because people would opt to keep their income low to stay eligible for federal health care subsidies or Medicaid, the agency said. It had estimated previously that the law would lead to 800,000 fewer jobs by that year.

Yes.  ObamaKare is an abortion.

It’s the latest indication that “the president’s health care law is destroying full-time jobs,” said Republican Rep. John Kline of Minnesota, chairman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee. “This fatally flawed health care scheme is wreaking havoc on working families nationwide,” he said.

The agency sees the deficit sliding to $478 billion next year before beginning a steady rise years through 2024 that would bring the annual imbalance back above $1 trillion. Overall, it forecasts deficits totaling $7.3 trillion over the coming decade, about $1 trillion more than previously estimated.

“CBO expects that economic growth will diminish to a pace that is well below the average seen over the past several decades,” the report said, citing an aging population and a decrease in the rate of growth in the labor force.

Trey Gowdy: the “Enforce the Law” Act

Isn’t it odd — and don’t you cringe — when you find that a member of our House of Representatives proposes a law that would “force” DC to obey the law?

Isn’t that the greatest of abominations you can feature?  We have to propose a law that mandates laws get obeyed?

Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), proposed the ENFORCE the Law Act, which aims to bring our current Imperial Presidency into line with such heretical things as the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution.  Mr Gowdy speaks here:

The Founders described the “long train of abuses” at the hands of a king that triggered the need for a change, in the form of a Declaration of Independence. Runaway governance is back, and President Obama is the conductor.

The Constitution set up peaceful mechanisms available today to deal with overreach that weren’t available to the revolutionaries of 1776. Today’s lawmakers must use these to brake Barack Obama’s disregard for the Constitution before that “long train” grows longer.

The House could consider as early as this week the Enforce the Law Act, granting either the House or the Senate the explicit authority to file a lawsuit against the president for failing to carry out his constitutionally mandated duty to “take care that the laws be faithfully executed.”

It directs such lawsuits to a three-judge panel of a federal district court with appeals going directly to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina, the measure’s Republican sponsor, blames Mr. Obama for the need to act. “This administration’s disregard for the law,” he says, “has reached an unprecedented level from a constitutional perspective. … This bill … will give Congress the authority to defend this branch of government as the Framers and our fellow citizens would expect.”

How is it that we seem to have found ourselves here with — on its face — such an incredibly ridiculous bill?

During a visit with French President Francois Hollande at Monticello in Charlottesville, Va., President Barack Obama reportedly quipped, “That’s the good thing as a president, I can do whatever I want.”

And yes it is, sir.  You possess the current Bully Pulpit for the entire nation, such as it is.

At 4:45 POTUS and president Hollande walked out from a portico and strolled in Front of your pool with Leslie Bowman, president of the Monticello Foundation. Looking at a terrace she said that Jefferson loved to admire the landscape from there. POTUS said that he’d like to take a look and seemed delighted to “break the protocol”.

“That’s the good thing as a President, I can do whatever I want” he quipped, walking to the terrace with his guest and Ms. Bowman. Pool now in the mansion as the leaders will come and visit Jefferson’s study.

It’s good to be King.
