After calling church sermons for subpoena, Mayor Annise Parker backed down Wednesday from the city’s effort to force local pastors to turn over speeches and papers related to a hotly contested transgender rights ordinance.

The city had asked five pastors for “all speeches, presentations, or sermons” on a variety of topics, including the mayor, and “gender identity.”

The subpoena prompted a storm of criticism when it became public Tuesday. The pastors are involved in legal efforts to overturn the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance, also known as the “bathroom bill.”

Wait. Is it just me? Is this writer attempting to gloss over the fact that the mayor was attempting to set her Stasi Rottweilers upon those persons with which she simply disagrees? In one word: yes.

Closely examine how the headline and sub-headline are written. Any slant there you see?

However, Ms. Parker, a self-declared lesbian, defended the subpoenas after she was aware of them, according to her Wednesday afternoon statement.

In a post on her Twitter feed late Tuesday, around midnight, Parker said that issuing subpoenas for sermons was appropriate if the pastors had been active in promoting the signature-gathering effort to overturn the ordinance.

Frankly, nothing more than a naked abuse of power writ large.

Ms. Parker’s office initially doubled down in the face of such criticism but issued a statement late Wednesday saying the mayor “agrees with those who are concerned about the city legal department’s subpoenas for pastors’ sermons.”

But all is not won; in fact, public opinion isn’t having the effect many would like.

The statement says the city will “move to narrow the scope during an upcoming court hearing” and that city and that City Attorney David Feldman “says the focus should be only on communications related to the petitions to overturn the ordinance.”

Translated: there will still be a focus on the abrogation of the First Amendment in Houston proper. We will still go for e-mails and other forms of communications.

Mark this now. For a state that allegedly declares itself uninfluenced and independent and self-reliant and worthy of a lone star flag, Tejas proves itself more aligned with Fornicalia than many other states.

The five pastors targeted by the subpoenas are Hernan Castano, Magda Hermida, Khan Huynh, Steve Riggle and David Welch, all of whom opposed the ordinance.

Mr. Welch, executive director of the Texas Pastors Council, said city officials appear to be interested in “demonizing” the pastors by finding something politically incorrect in the stacks of sermons, emails, presentation notes and other communications requested under the subpoenas.

A story in flux and transition. And not yet entirely solved in favor of logic or even the founding documents of our great nation.

Marxist Lesbian Mayor Annise Parker ain’t done yet.

The city of Houston has issued subpoenas demanding a group of pastors turn over any sermons dealing with homosexuality, gender identity or Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor. And those ministers who fail to comply could be held in contempt of court.

Read that again and begin to fully and truly digest its meaning.

Annise D. Parker is a Stalinist mayor in America. This is the re-creation of the Stasi and Brown Shirts all over again within the borders of the United States of America.

The subpoenas are just the latest twist in an ongoing saga over the Houston’s new non-discrimination ordinance. The law, among other things, would allow men to use the ladies room and vice versa. The city council approved the law in June.

The Houston Chronicle reported opponents of the ordinance launched a petition drive that generated more than 50,000 signatures – far more than the 17,269 needed to put a referendum on the ballot.

However, the city threw out the petition in August over alleged irregularities.

After opponents of the bathroom bill filed a lawsuit the city’s attorneys responded by issuing the subpoenas against the pastors.

But here’s the Crux of the Biscuit:

The pastors were not part of the lawsuit. However, they were part of a coalition of some 400 Houston-area churches that opposed the ordinance. The churches represent a number of faith groups – from Southern Baptist to non-denominational.

Therefore, you can chalk the subpoenas up to nothing more than retribution. And jackbooted authoritarianism.

The lawsuit and subpoenas were designed to intimidate, quash and chill the free speech of pastors and base religious freedoms themselves.

Mayor Parker will not explain why she wants to inspect the sermons. I contacted City Hall for a comment and received a terse reply from the mayor’s director of communications.

“We don’t comment on litigation,” said Janice Evans.

However, ADF attorney Stanley suspects the mayor wants to publicly shame the ministers. He said he anticipates they will hold up their sermons for public scrutiny. In other words – the city is rummaging for evidence to “out” the pastors as anti-gay bigots.

Pages ripped from the playbooks of both Saul Alinsky’s “Rules For Radicals” as well as Stalin and Marx:

Among those slapped with a subpoena is Steve Riggle, the senior pastor of Grace Community Church. He was ordered to produce all speeches and sermons related to Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality and gender identity.

The mega-church pastor was also ordered to hand over “all communications with members of your congregation” regarding the non-discrimination law.

“This is an attempt to chill pastors from speaking to the cultural issues of the day,” Riggle told me. “The mayor would like to silence our voice. She’s a bully.”

No kidding. The response:

David Welch, director of the Houston Area Pastor Council, also received a subpoena. He said he will not be intimidated by the mayor.

“We’re not afraid of this bully,” he said. “We’re not intimidated at all.”

He accused the city of violating the law with the subpoenas and vowed to stand firm in the faith.

“We are not going to yield our First Amendment rights,” Welch told me. ‘This is absolutely a complete abuse of authority.”

Tony Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council, said pastors around the nation should rally around the Houston ministers.

“The state is breaching the wall of separation between church and state,” Perkins told me. ‘Pastors need to step forward and challenge this across the country. I’d like to see literally thousands of pastors after they read this story begin to challenge government authorities – to dare them to come into their churches and demand their sermons.”

Pastor Welch said: “We can no longer remain silent. We must stand together – because one day – the government might come for your pastor.”

This, of course, reminds me of the classic quote from another pastor named Martin Niemoller:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Final question: do you think this would have occurred with regard to Islamic sermons in America? Do you think Islam “loves” gays?

And that is clearly purposeful.

Mr Obama, the deaths of Mexican and South American men, women and children are on you, sir. The coming spread of disease from illegal immigrants to lawful Americans is on you, sir. (It is already occurring with Border Patrol agents and in shelters.) Forcing local and state economies to take on the extra fiscal and infrastructural strain (and possible bankrupture) is on you, sir.

It is your laissez-faire attitude regarding our southern border that is responsible for these terrible things. And I submit that, behind the scenes, your actions — and mostly inactions — are plotting and intentional.

You are very aware, sir, of the Cloward-Piven Strategy, having been schooled at the feet of such luminaries as Saul Alinsky, William Ayers, Reverend Wright, Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven.

Congressman Chris Collins (R-NY).said, regarding the forced transportation of illegals from the southern border all the way up to the state of New York:

“It is unacceptable the federal government is trying to force the hardworking taxpayers of New York to foot the bill to house undocumented immigrants,” said Congressman Chris Collins. “The President’s actions have fueled the current crises along the southern border, and now New York residents are being directly impacted by his irresponsible actions. If President Obama was committed to enforcing the immigration laws currently in place, this would not be an issue. Instead, the President has decided to pick and choose which laws he wants to enforce, creating an environment where wrongdoing goes unpunished.”

Then there is the USBP agent:

Border Patrol Agent: ‘If the Administration Says This Isn’t Amnesty, Don’t Believe Them’

(CNSNews.com) — Albert Spratte, the sergeant-at-arms of the National Border Patrol Council, Local 3307 in the Rio Grande Valley, said the Obama administration is largely to blame for waves of illegal immigrants that have been flooding the Southwest U.S. border since February, saying the government opened the door for the crisis by making it “clear they’re not going to deport people.”

Spratte, who was speaking with CNSNews.com as a representative of the union, further said “we don’t have control of the border,” and if the Obama administration claims it is not in effect giving amnesty to the illegals, then “don’t believe them.”

Also, by allowing so many young illegal aliens to be released into this country, “the U.S. government has become a part of the smuggling business,” he said.

And that is the incredible truth: America has now deliberately become a part of the smuggling business. The US Spite House as Mexican coyote — taking its “La Mordida” in terms of votes and lives.

Ex-border agents: Immigrant flood ‘orchestrated’

It is a man-made disaster from Mr Obama, pure and simple.

An organization of former Border Patrol agents Wednesday charged that the federal government, under the administration of President Obama, is deliberately arranging for a flood of immigrant children to arrive in America for political purposes.

“This is not a humanitarian crisis. It is a predictable, orchestrated and contrived assault on the compassionate side of Americans by her political leaders that knowingly puts minor illegal alien children at risk for purely political purposes,” said the statement released by the National Association of Former Border Patrol Officers.

“Certainly, we are not gullible enough to believe that thousands of unaccompanied minor Central American children came to America without the encouragement, aid and assistance of the United States government,” the officers said.

“Anyone that has taken two six- to seven-year-old children to an amusement park can only imagine the problems associated with bringing thousands of unaccompanied children that age up through Mexico and into the United States.”

Allow me to interject at this point:

News stories have indicated that women, children and others have come up from Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador and Nicaragua. That means one very specific thing: Mexico is allowing those persons through their country, in order to cross the northern border.

A federal judge even concluded the White House “has simply chosen not to enforce … border security laws.”

FoxNews.com reported this week Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer calls the situation a “creation” of the federal government, and Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., assigned blame for the “calamity” to Obama.

Fox News reported it had obtained a memo from an official with Customs and Border Protection who said the current policies are serving as an incentive for illegal aliens to sneak into the U.S.

Vice President Joe Biden said this week at a manufacturer’s conference that the US needs a “constant, unrelenting stream” of new immigrants to buttress the national economy.

I would add: no, not quite. I would also add: let’s take care of our own people first, before we bring in others. Let’s take care of those individuals who were born here. Let’s educate them and train them.

Because the people who are flooding into the United States via our southern border are ill-educated, sometime ill in health, and the first to sign up for more federal and state Free Cheese — at the insistence of the federal government.

Specifically to the point:

The former Border Patrol agents said the campaign is a “political deception,” and the responsibility rests with the political leaders who support “a path to citizenship, regularization or any other form of amnesty for illegal aliens before providing for full protections for national security (jobs and economy) and public safety (the right of the people to be secure in their property and person).”

The officers argue that the non-enforcement of immigration laws is “the next step in becoming a failed state.”

And so, that is very true. A failed nation-state.

The Augusta Chronicle writes today:

As one Guatemalan detainee told The Christian Science Monitor: “They’re saying that women and children are allowed to stay.”

The Obama administration certainly isn’t doing anything to dispel that notion.

It set up housing for detainees at a San Antonio Air Force base and a Ventura, Calif., Navy base. They can’t handle the sheer numbers, so a processing center has been set up in Nogales, Ariz., which also can’t handle the sheer numbers. The center already is running out of supplies. Another planeload of about 130 illegals was dumped in El Paso, Texas, for processing and care. Fort Sill, Okla., is being prepared for still more illegals.

And President Obama is asking Congress for $1.4 billion of your money to pay for all of that.

Even more outrageous: The administration said Friday that it was starting a program issuing $2 million in grants to fund about 100 lawyers and paralegals to represent immigrant children facing deportation.

The White House not only is refusing to turn these kids away, it’s fighting like mad to keep them here.

Read that very important series of paragraphs again, if you will. Digest it a bit. This is a very purposeful and man-made “crisis.”

We don’t need more low- or no-skilled workers with poor education. We need persons who are vocationally trained and highly educated. We don’t need more burger flippers and weed-pullers; we need those whose educated and clear brains can create the next generation of technological improvements.

The massive and current flood of children and women through our porous borders, gathered and then purposely-released by the USBP into border state population centers at the direction of federal management via DC and the Spite House — in the very dead of a blazing hot summer — is the Cloward-Pivening of our social fabric. It is designed to crash the system so that the system can be rebuilt under a more Socialist bent. As advocated by Richard Cloward, Frances Fox Piven, William Ayers, and Saul Alinsky.

This is purposeful, it is willful, it is artificially created, it is heinous, it is despicable, and it stems directly from the Oval Office of the Spite House.

It is a man-made disaster of huge proportions, pure and simple.

As Obama clearly knows, having been schooled at the feet of Alinsky, Ayers, Cloward and Piven: no nation can survive absent true sovereignty.
