CIA Director General David Petraeus resigned on Friday because of an affair with a woman not his wife.
Why?
DC is literally festooned with hot-and-cold-running affairs, in every office, on both sides of the aisle.
Why Petraeus? Why now?
Here is why, from Breitbart.com:
Petraeus was slated to testify before Congress next week on the murder of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, in Benghazi, Libya. Bret Baier of Fox News just tweeted, “With Petraeus’ resignation effective immediately, he will not testify next week & lawmakers are said to be ‘stunned’ by the announcement.”
This is not coincidence. This was timed to the Nth degree in order to protect Barack Hussein Obama.
Period.

Wow, this whole “transparency” thing is really working well … for Teh Won.
Transparent in terms of a corrupt political ploy — ?
That’s the only transparency I see.
BZ
This stinks as bad as the election results. I wonder if Patraeus would have resigned if Romney were Prez today….
Yes, it stinks.
To me, the coverup is obvious.
But isn’t it amazing that you will NOT see ANY media outlet in the entire United States even hypothesize or QUESTION the reason and the timing?
Imagine that: journalistas who are specifically NON-curious little entities.
BZ
I want to be surprised and blown away by this blatant cover-up and the corruption, but sadly, I am not. I am just saddened for my once great country.
Yep, cover your ASS Obama.
One day, this “poser” will get what’s coming to him.
His ‘gayness’, his muslimness,,,etc.
Check his wedding ring.

Why, how convenient! What an elegant bit of timing! First thing that struck me was…why now? I wonder how long the FBI has known about this affair.
But I do not understand why this would preclude him from testifying. He still knows what happened. So he was carrying on an affair. So what. A certain president, oh what WAS his name…it’ll come to me in a minute, was unfaithful to hillary in in the WH. He stayed in office despite efforts to kick him out.
Private citizens can get called to testify before Congress.
So why would Gen. P’s affair nullify his testimony?
A president who truly cared about his country would, IMO, make every attempt to uncover the truth. But then I have to remind myself that most of these ‘elected officials’ seem to care less about their country, my country and more about ‘playing the game’ of politics.
All good points.
Time will tell.
But don’t you get the feeling, underneath it all, that WE, as a nation, WE are getting PLAYED and that there is yet something we don’t know — ?
Something VERY important. . .

Whatever the reason, let us rejoice that another “Perfumed Prince” is gone.
Col. Hackworth’s term
http://www.hackworth.com/9aug99.html
Interesting. I am familiar with that term. I didn’t know that Petraeus fit into that category, except:
Would that be true, these days, of ANY general/admiral in ANY of our services — ?
BZ
You are probably right about our current crop of flag officers.
I have a son and several cousins (2nd, 3rd) on active duty; all have been in war zones. Never heard a good word about Gen. P from any of them.
As an aside, every current active duty military person I’ve talked to, including my son, are very reluctant to say anything at all. My conclusion is that there is no trust by them in their chain of command.
Any similarities there with some police departments?
As with any organization, the real work is done at the grunt and immediate supervisor level. It is an axiom that Sergeants actually run the police and sheriff departments of the nation and I can vouch — that is quite correct.
As John Boyd wrote (every person interested in the military should know John Boyd): “you can either be someone, or do something.”
Most upper echelon individuals have chose to “be someone” rather than “do something.”

OK, I don’t think he resigned to STOP him from testifying.. I think HE resigned in order TO testify… The CIA has far too many rules about testifying, I think the idea was, “testify and we’ll tell about your affair and ruin you at CIA”…
The General may have given them a huge FU and walked, he didn’t NEED to be at CIA, he has his made and none of this will effect his retirement from the Army…
I can only hope. I’ll believe it when I see it.
I haven’t the foggiest about what made me quite so negative these days. . .
BZ
Sooner or later he would have been stripped of his rank and stripes. I don’t think he had much of a choice in the matter. Now hopefully he can speak out without those repercussions.
No, no choice. . .
But will he testify? If he doesn’t, then we KNOW the motivation.
BZ
Petraeus has made a lifetime of good decisions. One stinker. Can’t imagine him bowing to pressure over the Benghazi debacle under any circumstances.
This is the week. We’ll find out.
People are convinced he’ll testify. People are convinced he won’t.
It shall unfold. . .
