Driving Miss Romney

Mitt Romney's Losing Presidential ThanksgivingNo, no, no, he says, Mitt Romney isn’t running for president.

Though, of course, he’s been on the Hugh Hewitt show recently and been boxed into the “running corner” by Mr Hewitt himself — and somewhat embarrassingly so.  At the conclusion of that radio segment, I thought Mr Romney had made things pretty clear: he isn’t running for president.

Then there’s this, from the WeeklyStandard.com:

This morning on Fox News Sunday, former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said there’s “no question” that he’d be a better president than Hillary Clinton.

“You mentioned Hillary Clinton,” said host Chris Wallace. “Do you think you’d make a better president than Hillary Clinton?”

“No question about that, in my mind,” Romney said. “The American people may disagree with me. You’ve got to get this economy going. You have to have people who understand what it takes to create jobs and to help people come out of poverty, to help the middle class have a better and more prosperous future. You’ve got to have that understanding.

“You’ve also got to have people who’ve actually run something. The government of the United States is the largest enterprise in the world. You watched a president who just doesn’t understand how to make an administration work, how to interact with Congress, how to get things done.

The intimation being: I do.

From the Wall Street Journal: “Romney on 2016: ‘I’m Not Planning on Running.”

Then why, sir, are you making noise and wasting air as if you might, pray tell?  Why are some in the blogosphere pushing you?

And considering the revelation to his son, Tagg, that Mitt’s heart really wasn’t into running for president back then.

Are you serious?

With that, and your actions (or inactions) during the last campaign, you’re even remotely thinking of expecting me to support you for another run?

Frankly, you’ve proven you don’t have it in you, sir.  I gave Sarah Palin a brief consideration until she excused herself from the governor’s chair and went home.  From that point on she became, to me, no longer viable in any way.  She had no fight.

You, also, proved to me you have no fight.  You were handed any number of select, greasy, tempting, taste-sensational points you could have unleashed upon Mr Obama, but you decided to “play nice” in the octagon.  You don’t play nice in the octagon, sir; you go for the throat and spill blood.  That’s why it’s the octagon and why only those who are willing to shed blood play there and win.

Mr Romney, I’m sure you’re a nice fellow and quite schooled in the business side of the world, but as a presidential candidate — well, I’d rather vote for one of my fellow Sergeants on the night shift, who is infinitely more squared-away than you are, sir.  For one, he’s not a flake.  Secondly, he has more real-world common sense than all of the empty suits and skirts in DC combined.

Either declare or go someplace else, Mr Romney, so you’re not a distraction and I can begin to consider whom I may seriously support for president in 2016.  It won’t be you in any eventuality.

I placed my trust in you only to discover you didn’t even trust yourself.

Aviation birdstrikes

And you thought our feathered friends were indeed friends.  .  .in an aircraft, they are not quite so much.

In the first video, the bird strikes the very nose of the 747 upon landing:

In the second video, a bird is ingested into the MD-11’s tail engine:

In the third video, a birdstrike is responsible for the return of a British Airways jet:

In the fourth video, a bird strikes the pilot’s windscreen in a single-engine private craft, completely taking away the window, a portion of the frame and the visor.  The pilot stays remarkably cool and controlled:

In the fifth video, a Canadian BAe Hawk jet is struck; pilot tries to restart the single engine but ultimately the crew ejects and the aircraft is lost into a field.

Never underestimate the power of fowl.

USBP agents: taking it on the chin for Obama

So sayeth many persons who weighed in on Ferguson, for example.

It’s bad enough that real citizens get to beat up on cops for free.  Now illegals get free pops on cops.

While violent assaults frequently leave agents injured and even hospitalized, U.S. Attorneys often fail to prosecute the illegal aliens who commit the assaults. As recently as last month, charges against an accused illegal alien drug smuggler who assaulted a Border Patrol agent while attempting to escape were dismissed. The documentary will tell the story of these agents and the outrageous behavior of the government in not prosecuting these cases.

Note to USBP agents:

If you’re tired of being punching bags for illegal invaders, perhaps it’s time you left the federal government and became real cops, for real agencies, ones that will support you and not allow you to hang out to dry for politically correct purposes.

Because, trust me, Mr Obama and Eric Holder couldn’t care less about you, as evidenced by Brian Terry and by Fast and Furious and by your extirpation along the border.  You are essentially nothing more than human Kleenex.

Christopher StevensYou’re as valuable as Christopher Stevens.  And Christopher Stevens had a lot more pull than you do, USBP agents.  Do the math.

Agents are frequently assaulted by illegal aliens who throw large rocks at them as they work along the border. The assaults often result in head and other bodily injuries. One of these agents is Border Patrol Agent Christopher Harris who was violently assaulted by an illegal alien who struck him in the head with a large rock.

Or you could look at it the way Mr Obama wishes: you are taking one “for the team” on behalf of His Imperial One.

The assaults continue and prosecutions are rare, sending a signal to illegal aliens that there is little to no risk in assaulting agents while attempting to escape capture. The documentary is expected to be released later this fall.

USBP agents, I beseech you: leave the feds in droves.  You are not valued, you fight an unwinnable war, and you will not be allowed to triumph.

Find a nice local LE department and, further, find yourself a sheriff’s department, which is where your true foundational authority lies.

You will be welcomed and valued as a true family member.

Dump the feds.

Before they dump you.

And your medical records can be accessed — by anyone with the cash and the time and the experience — just as we knew it can be.

Hacker breached HealthCare.gov insurance site

A hacker broke into part of the HealthCare.gov insurance enrollment website in July and uploaded malicious software, according to federal officials.

Investigators found no evidence that consumers’ personal data was taken in the breach, federal officials said. The hacker appears only to have accessed a server used to test code for HealthCare.gov. The Department of Health and Human Services discovered the attack last week.

An HHS official said the attack appears to mark the first successful intrusion into the website, where millions of Americans bought insurance starting last year under the Affordable Care Act. It raised concerns among federal officials because of how easily the intruder gained access and how much damage could have occurred.

Ah.  Nice to know the federal government — the most massive repository of medical records on the planet — can be so readily and illegally accessed.  Let’s see, what else is on this website?  Oh, that’s right — roughly everything about you, to include your health history, your SSN, your address, predilections, credit history, personal information, ad nauseum.

Perfect.  My confidence in the federal government his skyrocketed, as I’m sure your has too.

Just as we knew it would.

Obama: ISIS can be a “manageable problem”

Of course it can.

First, from Breitbart.com:

President Barack Obama said that ISIS can be shrunk to “a manageable problem” if the international community works to “isolate” it on Wednesday.

Really?  ISIS can simply be “managed”?

“If we are joined by the international community, we can continue to shrink ISIL’s sphere of influence, its effectiveness, its financing, its military capabilities, to the point where it is a manageable problem…what we’ve got to do is make sure that we are organizing the Arab world, the Middle East, the Muslim world, along with the international community, to isolate this cancer,” Obama stated. 

True, Mr Obama?  As the international community is SO interested in scaling back and opposing Vladimir Putin — particularly in Europe?  Because Mr Putin controls the Oil Tap that connects the EU to Russia?

That kind of international joining?  Meaning: none?

Mr Obama is so incredibly inane as to be ludicrous.

The so-called “international community” hasn’t the power that the US potentially possesses — power that Mr Obama refuses to wield.

Mr Obama believes that ISIS can be “negotiated with.”  He is wrong beyond wrong.  ISIS will not negotiate and those who believe they can are considered weak and targets by ISIS.

ISIS doesn’t run or is motivated by anything other than religious fervor — Islam, to be specific, and the most repressive and constrictive application of Islam indeed.

ISIS respects no borders or arbitrarily-drawn country lines.  Muslims are by nature a nomadic and tribal community ruled by various forms of barbarism, then as now.  Sharia Law stems from this.  The job of ISIS is simply to Borg the rest of the Middle East, by any means necessary.  A supreme caliphate is desired.

ISIS will not “negotiate” and cannot be “managed.”
