California Proposition 8 Banning Gay Marriage: Overturned By Federal Judge In San Francisco

California’s Proposition 8 banning gay marriage was overturned (opinion issued Wednesday at 1:45 pm) by a federal judge in San Francisco on the basis that the 14th Amendment was violated.

People will read this:

Wednesday afternoon, Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker ruled that the same-sex marriage ban violates the equal rights of gay and lesbian couples, a decision setting the stage for a promised appeal that appears destined for the U.S. Supreme Court.

What will be buried or avoided is this:

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker, one of three openly gay federal judges in the country, gave opponents of the controversial Proposition 8 ballot a major victory.

Of course, Judge Walker had not one slightly biased bone in his body.

So here’s the look of things to come. “It’s going to happen whether you like it or not,” said San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom.

By federal judicial fiat.

Turning A Corner? Radio Leftist Ed Schultz Says: No Votes For Demorats In November!

Ed Schultz, a Leftist from way back (and veteran of the now deservedly dead Air America) said on his Friday (July 30th) radio show:

And I’m announcing today, I’m not going to vote in the midterms. I’m not going to do it. You can say it’s un-American. No, it’s rather revolutionary is what it is. I’m at that point. I’m checking out.

I’m checking out of the Democrats because they are proving to me that they don’t know how to handle these big babies over on the right that say no. You know what you do? You get in the driver’s seat, you hit the throttle, and you run over ’em.

That’s great, “Big Eddie,” I couldn’t agree more. Stay the hell at home on November 3rd. Advocate it. Live it. Make it your mantra and make it your own. Stay home but, until then, run over Republicans and Conservatives with your car. Good luck identifying them.

Because what you don’t realize, like the bulk of the Left, is that those persons you link with your downfall — the TEA Partiers — aren’t just registered Republicans. They are Conservatives — a philosophical level deeper than just “Republican.” But they include Independents and Libertarians as well. Worse yet — and what you’ll never understand — is that so-called “TEA Partiers” also include blacks, Mexicans and asians as well as caucasoids. The TEA Party includes everyone.

To each and every Demorat: Big Eddie is not only highly insightful but correct. Boycott those damned November elections.

Trades vs College:

These days, college wins every time.
Just ask your friendly neighborhood unemployed overeducated White Kid:
Let’s use my nephew as an example. He doesn’t want to be an example but there it is.
He’s your prototypical hugged & coddled GOWP kid, thrust into a national situation he is purposely ill-prepared to understand.
His parents meant well but they too were duped by their parents. (Sounds like fodder for another post, eh?)
Living in essentially Paradise (Coronado, CA), he was encouraged to envision that the world revolved around himself, from T-ball to soccer practice to other priority events.
His mother forbid him from enlisting in the military — though she herself benefited from a military family that handed over a $1 million dollar + home from her Marine father —
And, through college, he knew he had what I call a “fallback position.”
That is this: no matter what occurs, he can always “come home.”
To which I say: bullshit. If he falls he fails. No matter his choices, no matter his decisions.
My middle brother has resolved to support him.
I had no fallback position. I’ll wager my other two brothers were offered no fallback position either.
I made my choice and, throughout my entire life, I’ve had to live with it. There was no going back. My parents hurled the gauntlet saying “I couldn’t do it” so I did it. Right or wrong, I took their challenge and made them acknowledge it.
My nephew has a degree in Philosophy. Totally insignificant squishy. Major squishy.
That and $2.00 will get him a venti Pike Place at Starbucks.
In the meantime, there is a ghastly national need for automobile mechanics, HVAC technicians, plumbers, electricians, skilled drywallers, architects, energy specialists, woodworkers, welders, technical divers, pipefitters, nurses.
You want individuality? Learn a trade and be your OWN boss. If you’re not a flake you’ll have more work than you could possibly handle.
Those of you who have called for technicians KNOW what I mean.
Only one highly-skilled and college-educated trade now exists: DOCTORS.
Philosophy majors?
Line up over there and push the icon for CHEESEBURGER.
