Stop The EU Bailout — So Sayeth The GOP

Too much common sense? From The Washington Post:

Republicans introduce bill to prevent Euro bailout

After a week of preemptive attacks on a possible IMF bailout of Greece, Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) introduces the European Bailout Protection Act, aimed at preventing taxpayer dollars from going to a rescue plan.

“This legislation would require that countries like Greece cut spending and put their own fiscal house in order,” says Pence, backed up by other members of the House GOP, “instead of looking to the United States for a bailout. We face record unemployment and a debt crisis of our own, and American taxpayers should not be forced to bear the risk for nations that have avoided making tough choices.”

Now if only we could create bills to curtail further bailouts and spending for banks, all lending institutions and corporations. Let them fail where they may.

And if only we could provide tax cuts for small businesses and American families.

But no; we can’t have that.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

– Still, the Euro tanks
– The Bank of England says, US, you’re to follow the Grecian model: in fact, you’re next
– Portugal will institute a “Crisis Tax
– Spaniards to strike over cuts

The Demorats learn absolutely nothing from history. They are deaf, dumb, blind, and possessed of Blissful Ignorance in combination with Willful Neglect.

ZepCon 2010

Just as there was a recent WyattPalooza (as wonderfully documented by NFO!), I’m wondering if perhaps it isn’t time for a NorCal gathering of like-minded bloggers?

For those of you within the sound of my voice and URL — is there anyone or a series of anyones interested in getting together for a one day/night combo for the potential first commemorative ZepCon 2010?

I submit ZepCon 2010 could be a conglomeration of Conservative Bloggers getting together in, say, Reno, Nevada, in order to confirm our unity, personally meet each other, perhaps hoist a few adult beverages, solidify our goals, make some plans for our future?

Everyone knows there are damned few Conservative bloggers in Fornicalia, much less Northern Fornicalia where I live and work.

I’d like to meet as many of my like-minded bloggers as possible, to put a face and a philosophy to a URL. I think this may not be an impossible task. Perhaps this could even be a yearly event?

So I throw this out to you, my Dearest Readers:

Anyone possibly interested in a ZepCon meet-and-commiserate in 2010?

If so — please weigh in now with your applicable and salient comments.

May 11th: Snow

I’m in the midst of attempting to write some posts ahead and, at the same time, to examine where we are now as a nation — and as a planet — and where it appears we’re rapidly moving, in terms of the future.

The nomination of Elena Kagan to SCOTUS by Mr Obaka also has me writing a post with regard to the overall strategy and tactics utilized by Leftists to overturn the historically-immutable nature of the US Constitution and the push to transform it into a “living document,” changeable at a whim.

At this point I am starting to be of the opinion that we are about to relive the 1930s all over again.

Recall your history, ladies and gentlemen; what occurred in the 1930s?

P.S.
In the meantime, as I write behind the scenes, I received a blanket of snow just yesterday. On May 11th.
P.P.S.
As the City of Los Angeles is about to go completely bankrupt, its City Council is spending time and effort to publicly boycott the entire state of Arizona. Yes, that is how insane and unhinged Leftists and Demorats are truly.

Obaka Nominates Elena Kagan, SCOTUS

Here is what I can find on her so far, at this very early point:

– Solicitor General, Department of Justice, 2009-present

– Member, Research Advisory Council at the Goldman Sachs Global Markets Institute, 2005-2008

– Dean, Harvard Law School, 2003-2009

– Deputy assistant to President Clinton for Domestic Policy, 1997-1999

– Associate counsel to President Clinton, 1995-1996

– Special counsel to Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Joe Biden, 1993

– Law clerk to Justice Thurgood Marshall, U.S. Supreme Court, 1987-1988

– Staff member, Dukakis for President Campaign, 1988.

Leftist, clearly, but how much? First lesbian on SCOTUS?

A very interesting point from Le-gal In-sur-rec-tion:

The meme has taken hold that Kagan is a stealth candidate who has avoided taking positions on important constitutional or other issues throughout her career.

But on one issue of critical importance to the left — the constitutional right to same-sex marriage, Kagan has staked out a very clear and unequivocal position: There is no constitutional right to same-sex marriage.

In the course of her nomination for Solicitor General, Kagan filled out questionnaires on a variety of issues. While she bobbed and weaved on many issues, with standard invocations of the need to follow precedent and enforce presumptively valid statutes, on the issue of same-sex marriage Kagan was unequivocal.

One thing is obvious to me: she, like Mr Obaka, appears to be well educated but lacking in practical experience. As my civics teacher used to say: “You may have been taught, but what have you learned?”
