The federal government: background checks to be required for each ammunition purchase

Correct.

Demorat Senator Richard Blumenthal, Connecticut (no linkage, I’m sure), has said:

By Gary Fields

Associated Press

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D., Conn.) said he intends to introduce a bill this month that would require background checks for all purchases of ammunition, which he called the “black hole of gun violence prevention.”

Mr. Blumenthal said Tuesday that the bill would be in addition to background checks already required for firearms purchases from federally licensed dealers. Checks are run through a database maintained by the Federal Bureau of Investigation that lists former felons, fugitives, those deemed mentally ill and others who are barred from possessing firearms or ammunition.

A felon who walks into a store to buy ammunition “can load an entire shopping cart, pay and walk out,” Mr. Blumenthal said. He said that sellers who are not federally licensed would have the checks run by a federally licensed dealer…

Though there is yet no text for the bill available to my knowledge, you can rest assured there will be limits on the amounts purchased overall, limits per-purchase, and limits within a period of time.  Additionally, because of the background checks necessarily involved you may also rest assured that the length of time for said checks will be extended due to the greater number of them required.

But, good news!  This will demand expansion of the government due to the additional number of federal drones to conduct these background checks, enabling each individual request to be rushed through committee in, oh, say, roughly six months.

A few immediate questions and issues come to mind:

  An ammo check is another step along the way in order to drive gun owners away from being gun owners;
   This will, by logical extension, eliminate the sales of ammunition over the internet;
   This will, by logical extension, create an underground black market for ammunition, a la the 18th Amendment;
  You will be pushing law-abiding citizens to potentially become law-breaking citizens;
   The Domino Principle: backgrounding ammo, registering ammo, limiting ammo purchases, individual stampings, minimizing pressures, minimizing grain, limiting home loader black powder purchases, available metals, limiting casings and of course, eliminating lead and disallowing loaders to alternates;
  Federal checks on ammunition storage: this would potentially require ammunition reports on said storage — is it secure?  How secure?  Where is it kept?  How many rounds have you expended per week?  Per month?  Further: are you licensed?
   For example: as Rangemaster for my department, it was determined by my admin that we would accept surplus M-16s for de-tuning to semi-auto.  I had to account for each and every part removed from each rifle, and had to keep said parts sealed and safe for any future federal audits.  Because I took from the fed, I had to be accountable to the fed.  The fed could step onto my range with no prior announcement and demand an audit for its weapons; further, it could demand all those rifles back at a moment’s notice, in their prior fully-auto condition.  If I couldn’t provide, I was personally responsible.
   The Logical Extension: could federal representatives demand entry onto your premises, into your home, in order to determine the make, manner and fashion in which you store your ammunition?  And could you be subject to immediate arrest if you are not in precise compliance?

This is the first step in order to ban ammunition wholesale which, then, would be used to ban firearms for the American citizen.  This is a lawyer’s attempt to circumvent the Second Amendment.  Make no mistake.  What is the Constitutional objection?

I say: it isn’t the government’s business what I buy, how I buy, when I buy and how much I buy in terms of ammunition. These are privacy abrogations.

EXCLUSIVE: Cuomo Close To Announcing Sweeping New Gun Control Laws

Governor Working On Deal That Would Go After Assault Weapons, Magazines

January 8, 2013 6:47 PM

YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A deal to give New York one of the toughest gun control laws in the nation is being negotiated by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who, sources said Tuesday, is hoping to announce the plan Wednesday during his State of the State speech in Albany.

The fuse is lighted.  And the weight of government on every level is coming for your guns, your rights, your freedoms.

Not to mention all your cash via taxes.

Ga. mom shoots intruder 5 times in face, hides children

But best yet, let’s have taken the firearm from this mother in Georgia, so that the intruder could have killed or raped her and/or kidnapped her children.

From FoxNews.com:

LOGANVILLE, Ga. — A Georgia mother hid her two 9-year-old twins and shot an intruder, Paul Ali Slater, several times during a home invasion on Friday, according to multiple media reports.

The Loganville mother said she didn’t initially answer when someone knocked on her door around 1 p.m. Friday. When the visitor began repeatedly ringing the doorbell, she called her husband at work, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

He then dialed 911 and his 37-year-old wife gathered their 9-year-old twins and hid them in a crawlspace inside the home.

According to the report, the intruder then forced his way into the home and started “rummaging” through the family’s belongings.

When the suspect went into the closet where the family was hiding ,the woman fired six bullets at the suspect, five of which hit alleged suspect Paul Ali Slater in the face and neck area.

“He opens the closet door and finds himself staring down the barrel of a .38 revolver,” Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The woman fled to a neighbor’s home with her children. The woman and her two children were not injured.

This time, regarding violent entry into a person’s castle, it happens to be a story with a happy ending.

Not so much in the Leftist World, where the mother would have been left cowering in a closet with her children — literally — waiting for whatever the intruder decided to do.

Guns are tools and are frequently used for good, a fact completely ignored by the DEM/AMM.

The Journal News is “Armed and Dangerous” and FULL OF HYPOCRITES:

RGA InvestigationsROCKLAND COUNTY TIMES EXCLUSIVE:

Armed guards from RGA Investigations have taken up post at the Journal News’ Rockland County headquarters.

BY DYLAN SKRILOFF

Guns are good for the goose but NOT for the gander.

A Clarkstown police report issued on December 28, 2012, confirmed that The Journal News has hired armed security guards from New City-based RGA Investigations and that they are manning the newspaper’s Rockland County headquarters at 1 Crosfield Ave., West Nyack, through at least tomorrow, Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

According to police reports on public record, Journal News Rockland Editor Caryn A. McBride was alarmed by the volume of “negative correspondence,” namely an avalanche of phone calls and emails to the Journal News office, following the newspaper’s publishing of a map of all pistol permit holders in Rockland and Westchester.

Due to apparent safety concerns, the newspaper then decided to hire RGA Investigations to provide armed personnel to man the location.

Rather than take the map down following the public uproar, the executive board at the Journal News has decided to “stick to their guns” and double-down on their original decision, as they have said a map listing all pistol permit holders in Putnam County will soon to be posted.

Imagine that.

This is the same newspaper that thought it prudent to print the names and addresses of persons holding lawful firearms permits in Rockland and Westchester counties in New York state.  Thusly placing all those persons in great potential jeopardy.

In reaction, a blogger acquired the personal information of the article’s author as well as the publisher and editors of that newspaper.

Now the newspaper that hates guns — is itself relying upon guns to keep its employees “safe.”

What?  You mean there are actual applications for firearms?

You blustering, hypocritical American Media Maggots.

P.S.
The best comment to the above article?  Here:

The Journal News has exercised the rights they clearly want to deny everyone else. Their hiring protection for themselves has validated the pure rationale of every single one of those pistol permit holders they demonized by their propaganda piece. Pure Abbott and Costello comedy.

Our Rockland County Legislators are yet again a day late and dollar short by being aimlessly reactive. They know they cannot legislate the press on what not to publish. Pistol Permit holders’ private information is now out there for any miscreant to exploit. That damage is already done.

So, now their kabuki dance to craft some kind of privacy legislation is for show and ineffective, because it will be struck by the 1st Amendment, if it so much as smells like press censorship.

By next fiscal quarter, the Journal News will soon be obliged to make a business decision, when their product demand, will be measured by the consumer need, to line the bottom of bird cages.

What our community needs to seriously reconsider is a security experts review of this so called school lock down policy.

We will eventually discover that the Newton, Ct. school massacre was enabled by a counter-intuitive policy that huddled victims into a corral for slaughter, instead of crafting an escape and evasion plan.

The Newton, CT. investigation has yet to disclose any findings that can explain why it happened. Judging from the inconsistent reporting, they have yet to disclose precisely what happened. We need to be prepared to stop the next one.

Clearly, the answer is no where near the hysteria driven agenda of grabbing guns from the law abiding to protect us from the evil possessed, intent on mass murder.

One Marine’s letter to Diane Feinstein:

Gathering Gun StormFrom guns.com:

Senator Dianne Feinstein,

I will not register my weapons should this bill be passed, as I do not believe it is the government’s right to know what I own. Nor do I think it prudent to tell you what I own so that it may be taken from me by a group of people who enjoy armed protection yet decry me having the same a crime.

You ma’am have overstepped a line that is not your domain. I am a Marine Corps Veteran of 8 years, and I will not have some woman who proclaims the evil of an inanimate object, yet carries one, tell me I may not have one.

I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America.

I am the man who fought for my country. I am the man who learned. I am an American. You will not tell me that I must register my semi-automatic AR-15 because of the actions of some evil man.

I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public.

We, the people, deserve better than you.

Respectfully Submitted,

DEM/MSM: cherry-picking gun stories and IGNORING San Antonio, TX

[While we await the results of our incompetent Congress — the Senate passed its own “fiscal cliff” bill by 89 to 8 in the dark of Tuesday morning — I provide the following. –BZ]
San Antonio Theater Shooting, 12-17-12All we’ve heard recently is the need for gun control and confiscation, directly resulting from the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting.

Diane Feinstein swears to confiscate our gunsSo does Barack Hussein Obama.

“Mr and Mrs America, turn ’em all in.”

Both persons (and more) demand an abrogation of the Second Amendment.  I am unwilling to do so, for children, for my family, for anyone — particularly in light of violent crime trending down nationally.  A statistic you will not read or hear coupled with recent shootings.

[Want real gun facts? Go here.]

Here’s another recent shooting (December 17th, photo at top) which was UNcovered nationally, because it was halted mid-stride by an off-duty deputy who shot the assailant four times.  This is not a “made-up story.”

Two people were wounded late Sunday when gunfire erupted at a local movie theater, sending panicked moviegoers rushing to exits and ducking for cover, police and witnesses said.

Jesus Manuel Garcia, 19, an employee at a nearby China Garden restaurant, apparently became upset Sunday night after his girlfriend broke up with him.

Why no coverage?

Because it is an inconvenient story.  It doesn’t fit the DEM/MSM/Leftist/Progressive/Demorat meme of “guns bad; must confiscate guns.”

Here is an incident where someone — ARMED IN PUBLIC — was able to avoid a further tragedy by using a firearm for protection of themselves and the public.

The DEM/MSM knows: we can’t have that.  We can’t publicize that.  We cannot assist in carrying the thought that guns can be tools for good.

THAT’s how corrupt your American media maggots are.

Newsweek magazine is folding, having produced its last print version this week.  It will now be available only on the web.  I say: goodbye and good riddance.  Its obvious slant, with other variables, killed it.  Newsweek will soon find its presence on the web likewise diminished.  A safety tip for “Newsweek” employees: you’d best start familiarizing yourself with a McDonald’s keyboard.

You Ignorant Journalista Maggots.

You are just now beginning to reap what you’ve sown for, literally, decades.  Live with it.  Embrace it.  Then realize it pays nothing.  You’re all Thick as a Brick.
