Mr Obama issued 23 new “Executive Actions” on Wednesday which, in truth, are actual Executive Orders. For details, check out:
1. WhiteHouse.gov
2. President Obama Announces New Measures to Prevent Gun Violence
3. FULL DETAILS: Fact Sheet on the President’s Plan to Reduce Gun Violence
4. This is a $500 million dollar package
5. These orders also, essentially, make doctors and health officials Mandatory Reporters if they may possibly believe there is a hint of a verbal threat of violence perceived or remotely implied during a medical visit
6. Doctors will now be talking to you about firearms safety, as part of the Mandated Reporter chain
7. Logically — I extrapolate — you can bet that the insurance for doctors will go up, necessitating additional healthcare costs passed on to the consumer, as doctors face greater risk exposure for not reporting incidents in hindsight
The Executive Orders are:
Today, the President is announcing that he and the Administration will:
1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
11. Nominate an ATF director.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.
Please notice that the media doesn’t call them what they are: Executive Orders, otherwise known as EOs. They are given euphemisms such as “actions” and “measures” and a “package.”
And EOs completely bypass Congress and require no Congressional approval or oversight.
Rule — not leadership or the involvement of Congress — by Imperial Executive Fiat is, ladies and gentlemen, here.

Mr Obama says: “L’etat, c’est moi.”
Barack Obama made a speech, Joe Biden and some Libber staff came up with a list of 23 FEEL GOOD proposals that don’t amount to a hill of beans.
We already have MORE than enough guns laws; at least half of this proposed list is a waste of time, money and effort or is already in place. Enforce the gun laws we already have, enforce them honestly and fairly, that’s all it will take America.
I hope that ALL GOP Senators and Congress members, and at least *some* of the Dems see this list from Obama for exactly what it is; something to pacify the (m)asses and give a warning to the Senate and House that he (Obama) will attempt Executive Orders if this were to fail.
And fail it will.
You are correct. It does nothing but pacify the Ignorant.
And that includes the bulk of America, these days.
If I were a true Leftist, I’d actually be PISSED at Obaka. There is NO outright confiscation here. There is NO outright ammunition ban here. There is no kicking of doors here.
I wonder what the Leftists are thinking today.
And: where is the ACLU on this?
A shock: blazingly SILENT.
Everything is a FRAUD.
Obama is a FRAUD.
The Senate is a FRAUD.
A budget — hello, you American Dupes — HASN’T been PASSED in FOUR YEARS!
And DC is navel-gazing on magazine capacity.

And contrary to popular belief, these weren’t the dreaded Executive Orders… I have seen several on other media talking about the EO’s that Obama signed today and how they weren’t going to obey them….
What Obama did today was give that *warning rattle*, the EO’s are still a ways down the road, probably after the next well orchestrated school or church shooting…
And I am seriously beginning to believe that these attacks are being staged…
Still not willing to go there. . .

One of the first things he should have offered is a national version of the 10, 20, life law we have here in Florida.
From what I have read about it here in Florida it has worked fairly well.
But, if it was offered nationally, the bleeding hearts would more than likely limp wrist the law as being unfair.
And if I’m not mistaken, Florida crime has gone down, yes?
BZ
You betcha! I would like to think that because of so many CCL holders, in Florida, had something to do with that too.
Of more interest is the comments I heard today up here about an EO banning transportation of guns across state lines… THAT may end up being slid into some piece of legislation…
There are always intracacies.
And plans and webs within plans and webs.

Forgive me if this is a naive question but just how would any of these…measures…have prevented the various mass shootings?
And is this “does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes” in some way leading up to mandating that doctors must ask their patients if they have firearms in their homes? Perhaps eventually leading up to they must report it?
I believe that these mass shootings are a symptom of a a deeper illness within our society. When I read that 25% of the population suffers from some form of mental illness (and that’s just in the US, Europe is higher! ) I have to wonder why? Has it always been this way? Are more things considered to be classifiable as Mentall Illness now as compared to say, 50 years ago? Or has our society fundamentally changed in some perverse way?
Abigail, good questions.
They would mostly NOT have prevented same. The system, by the way, as already set up in Connecticut, WORKED. It is primarily NOT reported by the media that the genetic mutant tried to purchase another firearm himself and was REFUSED. The system ALREADY IN PLACE did its job; it WORKED.
The reportation of 25% of the population being crazy is just that: bullshit. The current DSM IV TR and all its other iterations exist to make most ANY slight aberration a mental illness. It’s what I call “job security.”
I have a hangnail. I can blame it on my neighbor and my parents and my upbringing.
Please. What a weak and pathetic nation we have become.
BZ
Thank you, BZ. I do agree that the parameters of what constitutes a mental illness are so broad that I suspect at one time or another in their lives everybody could be so classified!
All these executive actions seem like a large cosmetic patch designed, in my opinion, to give the appearance of doing something to ‘fix the problem’ of gun violence. It doesn’t address the basic why of it all. It is so easy to say more attention must be paid to mental illness, threat reporting, etc., etc. Fine, well and good! But. I believe the problem is more fundamental and has it roots in the way our society has changed over the years. We aren’t the same society we were in those halcyon days when I grew up in the middle of the last century. And we never will be again.
Is there anything this stuttering clusterfuck every come up with that doesn’t cost big bucks? Half a billion? Mostly slush fund to feed his cronies, reward up his base, and feed his hidden offshore accounts.
