Our Mr Obama said in a 2006 floor speech that preceded a Sentate vote to extend the debt limit:
Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership.”
Mr Obama then later joined his fellow Demorats in voting en bloc against raising the debt increase.

Total expenditures for fiscal year 2007 were $2.730 trillion. The current national debt is $11.787 trillion. If you divide the total by the yearly, it comes to about 4.3 times. What this means is that, without increasing spending we have already spent the money we needed to last us until January 2013. That should scare anybody that sees it, but of course it won’t.
Well, at least you point out the failure of Bush to restrain spending. You forgot to mention, of course, that he was left a budget surplus by Clinton. That would mean that you would have to agree that Clinton did at the very least one thing right. Let’s not gloss over the fact that Iraq was totally ridiculous and will cost about 3trillion when all is said and done. Heck, if we hadn’t been sidetracked by Iraq, we’d have finished with the Taliban years ago.
And why do you feel that we have to “tighten up” the northern border? Living 20 minutes away from Canada, I find that our friends to the north have never been anything but great nieghbors and do nothing but contribute to the overall prosperity of the US. They are getting upset with us for treating them like Mexico and I don’t blame them.
Obama really has done very little to change the status quo. The uproar over the speech yesterday will just drive a few more people out of the Republican party and diminish their numbers for 2010.
I used to vote republican but now feel that they simply have gone crazy. Until they start getting back to reality I and most moderate, centrist voters in America will do the same.
I said several times during the election that Bush and McCain were a headcold and Obama is Ebola. I have sadly been proven right.
