  1. When I was pregnant with my son, I made the rounds to different pediatricians to make sure I had one that spoke good English. Why? It was my first baby and I wanted someone who would be clearly understood and would understand me!

Just tying to talk with tech support or recruiters in India drives me insane! Very few speak good English, especially if they are in India. I have had to work with software teams in India too, and it is absolutely miserable, and because they are hard to communicate with, their code usually has to be corrected. Why companies outsource that way is beyond me.

  2. We have been dealing with this at the end of life facility for my Mother in Law. The people are nice, but sometimes you have to ask a nurse to repeat themselves. Kaiser was much worse in this area.

As an aside, the end of life facility is in Carmichael and basically its where they herd a bunch of OLD people who are dying and make them hang out there until their time comes. It is sad. The place is clean but has that death, cancer with a bit of shit and piss smell underlying all of that.

I have no doubt that under ObamaKare, these types of facilities would proliferate. Old people deserve far more than what they get in this society, respect being paramount! When I read about hospital closures in Quebec simply due to doctor shortages via their healthcare system, or meet a gal from the UK whose doctors were so incompetent that they screwed up her episiotomy during her first pregnancy, I get pissed.

I cannot fathom why or even how the Obama administration is doing this shit, when it is so apparent that Americans DON’T want this so called reform. He ought to be brought out into the town square and tarred and feathered!

  3. We could barely communicate with the workers and managers at the skilled nursing facility where my father-in-law died, killed by a staph infection that occurred through neglect.

  4. Eskaton Care Facility 5318 Manzanita Ave Carmichael, CA.

As an aside, my Mother in Law passed away this morning at about six thirty or so. My husband had made arrangements to have her body delivered to Chapel of the Valley, but it was delivered to another facility instead. Why? Some asshole nurse decided to call this facility without looking at my Mother in Law’s chart where there were clear instructions.

Just another fucking mistake that shows the incompetence and callousness in these types of places. Rehab isn’t their concern as much as it is turning a profit on the misery of others.

I’ve never been to such a place where the old ladies who are senile roam the hallways in there wheelchairs waiting for arbitrary visitors to boss around and ask them to leave the facility.

The only stimulation they have in their rooms is a television set. Wrongness on so many levels BZ.

  5. Mahndisa: this may not be much comfort, but let me assure you that most ANYthing Eskaton is the Cadillac in Sacramento. We couldn’t get my Dad into Eskaton during his last time, they had no room.

    BZ
