First, my condolences on the passing of your friend. Having lost more friends than I care to count, I understand why your posting will be light for the rest of the week.
That essay by Paglia is scathing. But that video of Sheila Jackson — well, that says it all about the elitists who are supposedly our elected public servants.

Let me add my condolences. We’ve both lost friends on our PDs. Tough stuff. As for the article, I always read Paglia’s stuff even though she’s a leftie. I don’t agree with many of her views, but she usually writes well thought out stuff with a pretty fair mix. Good post, I enjoyed the article.
Did you read the comments at Paglia’s post? WHOA. The leftwinger crowd is so much uglier than any Conservative rant I’ve EVER read it’s pretty unbelievable.
When Paglia talked about how much damage Bush did around the world, my mind slammed shut.
Odd that it’s only now that Bush is gone that we have no bargaining power anymore, huh? Even with Somali pirates who finally got their mojo against US when Obama the NICE GUY came into office.
I’d rather they were afraid of us than liked us, personally.
