Sheriff Joe Arpaio Investigated:

For actually having the temerity to enforce immigration laws.

When the federal system won’t.

Justice Dept. Investigates Arizona Sheriff for Enforcing Immigration Law – Thursday, March 12, 2009
By Penny Starr, Senior Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) – The Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched an investigation of the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona following requests by congressional Democrats and allegations by liberal activists that the department has violated the civil rights of illegal aliens.

A consortium of four Demorats [Reps. John Conyers (D-Mich.), Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), and Robert Scott (D-Va.) ] demanded the investigation.

As the result of this, our Sheriff Joe stated:

I will not back down. What I am doing is upholding the laws of the state of Arizona, and I will not be persuaded to turn my back on my oath of office as sheriff of this county.”

Let me break this story down to its barest of essentials:

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has been and continues to embarrass the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) arm of the federal government. He dares to do nothing more than enforce laws already extant. He, as opposed to the Fed, feels unencumbered by politics and Politically Correct views. Sheriff Joe Arpaio is very much his Own Man and, as such, likely takes his Oath of Office quite seriously and literally.

As a sworn peace Officer for the State of California, I had to ceremonially state:

I, ___, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the State of California; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties upon which I am about to enter, so help me God.”

My guess is that Sheriff Joe had to similarly swear upon the US Constitution and Arizona’s constitution.

Leave Sheriff Joe Arpaio alone.

He is doing the job he lawfully swore to do.

  1. I took that oath when I went into the Navy, and I bet the House and Senate took a similare one also.

Too bad for some the are “just words”.

  2. I recall when Mr. Bush Jr. said, “We are a land of laws.” Right. He meant we are a land of lawlessness and those that dare enforce the true laws will be jailed.

MS-13 is taking over in America and this news is not good. I am sorry truly for this man.

  3. this guy has always been MY HERO.
It was crushing to hear people are going after him; he’s just to NON PC and too tough…he’s what America USED to be. very sad.
If we had a million more like him, maybe we wouldn’t be facing what we are today, so ‘they’ have to get him out of the way.

  4. What in Hell gives the Congress any right to meddle in State or County affairs? That is stepping WAY out of bounds! It wouldn’t surprise me a bit if Joe doesn’t lock up anyone coming into his county poking around and causing problems. I hope they do and that he does! And I am sure there will be minutemen there backing him up! He is undoubtably among the best Sheriffs this country has! Is he racist? Maybe, but SO THE F### WHAT!!!??? He’s doing his job. To bad more people wouldn’t follow his lead!

  5. AA: I wouldn’t even BEGIN to say he’s racist — for doing his job? For watching out for the people in his county? The people in his county INCLUDE those who are LAWFUL Americans of Mexican descent. Those who came here legally and lawfully became American citizens.

  6. Go JOE! The American people should be sending him letters of support and thanking him for being a man of honor who is willing to be strong and act as a MAN and protect the people he has taken an oath to protect. And in protecting the people of Arizona, he is also protecting me and every other American from thugs who try to come into our country illegally to cause harm and mayhem.

  7. I agree with you, BZ, that Joe isn’t a racist. He’s a patriot, pure and simple, and he’s doing a fine job! For anyone who says he’s racist, that’s as absurd as those who called those of us who didn’t vote for Obama racist. A Sheriff puts Hispanic criminals in jail and for that he’s a racist? Should he just turn his head and let them continue to break the law because they’re Hispanic? From some of the articles I’ve read concerning this matter, some sure do sound like they think that he should.

  8. That’s an odd question.. Is he racist…

I was called a racist because of MY views on how to handle the wetbacks, kind of spooky hearing it applied to Sheriff Joe.. Even if it is just speculation…
