Dialup

Again, when I’m home on the weekends my dialup isn’t cooperating. It is refusing to let me post photos or allow any other action that requires more than a minute or two. It then decides to disconnect itself.

A local company that has an RF system I was considering is apparently run by persons who don’t wish my money. I’ve had to badger them to do their jobs, so I can only conclude that 1) the economy isn’t affecting them in the least and that they have so many customers they can afford to ignore me or 2) they are incompetent. I chance to venture it’s the latter.

As I don’t suffer fools lightly, it’s time to investigate satellite. My TV satellite in winter, however, goes out with very high winds and/or heavy snow, so I suspect satellite internet would do the same.

In any event, it’s about time for my dialup to knock me off the internet. I’ll be back to posting tomorrow. And yes, it’s snowing outside. Wish I could post a photo.

  1. My WildBlue satellite is almost as reliable as my DIRECTtv satellite/

The problem you have with wildblue is the customer service,,,I guess it’s growing pains.
Look at DISHinternet who supplies WB as their service without having to buy the equipment.

I have DIRECTTV as a tv providr and DISHinternet as my #75/mo broadband, but have had realiable service from both.

  2. I think it was a blogger issue, and apparently not just confined to “the island” as I originally suspected. I could finally post photos tonight (this morning) after almost 5 days of trying. Never move off the hill – as you know, it gives you a better field of fire . . . .

  3. Ah dialup, i remember those days, i used to live with it for a long time, while everyone was blasting past on their fancy highspeed networks.

I may not be physically all that old, but mentally, i’m old and cranky. 🙂
