Sarah Palin’s Future

It appears that corrupt Senator Ted Stevens (R, Alaska) may possibly be re-elected for his seventh full Senate term; results are not yet final.

That said, there is a forecast that I should care to submit for your consideration:

I posit that Senator Stevens should and will be expelled from the US Senate due to his conviction on seven felony counts last month related to his failure to report gifts from lobbyists.

If Senator Stevens is expelled or, more likely, he decides to resign, that will initiate proceedings to begin for a 90-day special election to replace him. It would also give Republicans a chance to keep the seat out of Democratic hands.

In my opinion, Governor Sarah Palin should step up immediately to vie for this position.

Some Conservatives (and most Leftists) have expressed their obvious rancor in re Palin. I, however, believe her to have an important future with the GOP. So, you want her to acquire experience? You want Palin to acquire savvy, credibility, veritas? This would be the perfect opportunity.
THIS JUST IN:
The acknowledgement of the lies revolving around Sarah Palin are just now starting to come in. From Yahoo News:

NEW YORK – MSNBC was the victim of a hoax when it reported that an adviser to John McCain had identified himself as the source of an embarrassing story about former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, the network said Wednesday.

David Shuster, an anchor for the cable news network, said on air Monday that Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy adviser, had come forth and identified himself as the source of a Fox News Channel story saying Palin had mistakenly believed Africa was a country instead of a continent.

Eisenstadt identifies himself on a blog as a senior fellow at the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy. Yet neither he nor the institute exist; each is part of a hoax dreamed up by a filmmaker named Eitan Gorlin and his partner, Dan Mirvish, the New York Times reported Wednesday.

The hoax was limited to the identity of the source in the story about Palin — not the Fox News story itself. While Palin has denied that she mistook Africa for a country, the veracity of that report was not put in question by the revelation that Eisenstadt is a phony.

And of course this revelation comes, oh, nine days after the election.
The DEM/MSM are such the incredible whores.

  1. Run Palin in 2012 and you will assure that Obama has 8 years in office.

I must say, I can’t believe you think Palin is the answer.

There are so many up and coming members of the GOP, Palin is not one of them.

The American have rejected her, why run someone that will lose?

  2. The bottom line….

You either want to WIN or you want to lose in 2012.

If you don’t mind losing again, run Palin.

I say let’s look at someone that voted agaisnt the bailout.

  3. I really want Sarah Palin to be our nominee in 2012 but I don’t get how being a Senator brings her closer to that. Up until this election, we hadn’t had a Senator win the presidency since JFK. I think Governor is a much superior position from which to gain experience.

  4. I’m with BZ…get her into the senate and let her get the experience meeting plenty of people, being on committees, introducing bills she’s passionate about. And we need her vote!
Governership is good, but who SEES her in the lower 48? Nobody.
In Wash DC, she’s an entity, on the national scene, and she’ll always get lots of attention because of what she’s been the last 3 months.

I firmly believe the media’s done just about the most damage they can do to her, which is a good thing. You don’t get much lower than telling America her child is her daughter’s child. I mean, how much more can you dig up? They’ve covered swinging she and Todd are supposed to have done!, Scandals (Troopergate), stupidity (I can see Russia, as if she meant it literally), Africa is a country (nobody knows who said that..maybe it was the NYSlimes?) etc etc..

You go, Sarah….take the senate seat and learn and season yourself. She’s smart, she’s authentic, she’s like a cross to vampires…She loves America; the left can’t take it.

    Sarah for Senate

  5. Dee: it’s plain, in my opinion, that no one respects her as Governor of Alaska; just a Zero state run by a Zero woman. To many persons G.A. equates to dogcatcher. I say slam her into DC and let her get her feet wet. IMHO, she won’t just survive, she’ll thrive and chop some legs off too.

  6. Do whatever you want with her, she’s not going to be president. The media may have outed all the skeletons in her closet but she’s still an idiot. And a religious whackjob. Never gonna happen.

  7. I agree, BZ. I think the senate would be good for her. There she can prove to those doofusses who believe she’s stupid that they’re very wrong!

I would also like to see Bobby Jindal run in 2012. There’s nothing stupid about him either.

  8. Anonymous: however, why is it that the Left did everything — MORE than everything they COULD in order to discredit her — if she was such a big “nothing”? Ever read or hear the sentence “The lady doth protest too much, methinks”?

  9. I like the sound of President Palin.

Madam President doesn’t sound so bad with her.

Obama will be such a nightmare that the Donks will either need to cheat or enlist illegals to win.

As far as the Senate goes, it’s starting to look like a moot point.

  10. I’m wondering if the Republican party will be split in two. On the one side, Reagan type limited government low tax types and no compromise hard right Christian evangelicals on the other. You can’t be moderate and also a Republican anymore. I think Chritine Todd Whitman of New Jersey would have been a great choice for VP, but McCain thought he had to placate the Pro-life crowd and that is why we got Palin. I say let her try for the Senate. I think BZ is absolutely right. If she thrives in the Senate she’ll get a shot at the nomination, but at this point I think she is damaged goods.

  11. Tim: there you go. She’ll either sink or swim. In the meantime, the goal is corral a list of real Conservatives who don’t spend money like water flows through a fire hose. When people indicate the GOP has mostly been its worst enemy, well, I can’t disagree at all.

  12. There is a downside to the Senate as her career path. The term of Senator is 6 years. They will throw it right in her face that she only did it as a stepping stone, and I would have to concur. If she goes that route, she should be looking at 2016. As Governor of Alaska, she will get a lot more exposure that she previously got for the same office. Name recognition will help her tremendously now. Maybe Todd should run for the Senate?

  13. Look at what the Senators have done the past 22 years since ‘amnesty’ went through for illegal aliens: nothing.

How much DC experience did GWB, Clinton, or Reagan have before being elected? GWB some via family, and Reagan some via contacts. None of those served in the Senate or House as they are not Executive posts. This was a rare election in which we had two Senators running against each other. So here is the question if you want ‘Waghington Experience’: who the hell are you going to *trust* from that experience as the visibility from the MSM goes to liberals and liberal leaning individuals? Romney got so-so press for being a ‘moderate’ and Huckabee got great press for being a fiscal liberal for the last part of his time as governor (would you like some taxes on top of the previous taxes?).

If you are coming up with the answer of ‘no one’, and even guys like Tom Coburn have their ‘issues’, then you are looking at a bunch of folks in the States. Governors are it, which was Jindal, with the possibility of Whitman, and now Palin. Got anyone else out there who can really claim to govern from a ‘conservative’ or even a ‘back to basics’ position?

    I don’t see them.

You want ‘Washington experience’ then you are asking for a moderate to liberal that you will complain bitterly about once they lose. That includes all current and former members of Congress who have zero executive experience.

Jindal is cleaning up Louisiana from D rule for so long it isn’t funny.

Whitman I have not heard much about but take a look at NJ and have some serious problems with accountability of elected officials there.

Palin actually went and did the things she promised, which is a lot more than most of the fools in DC have ever done… she had more executive experience in this race than the other three senators *combined*. You want experience *and* good contacts on the Hill?

Lotsa luck with a D dominated Hill for at least 2 years.

    Want to change it?

Hit hard in 2010 and start backing good candidates and pushing others to run, now. Not in 2009, *now*. The Left wants a permanent campaign? Give it to them in spades. Which means finding people who will *fight* to tear down what has been put up this last century. Hard, hard, hard work… not the four day weekend types there now.

You find someone who will back the basic: I will push for Congress to sit every working day with only a week off on July 4th and two weeks on Christmas and New Years and push for that in every bill, then you will have someone serious about *work*. We have *zero* of those Upon the Hill now. I refuse to vote for high profile slackers any more.

    Ever.

  14. Cheers BZ, like identifying a loved one at the morgue, I’ve been a little reluctant to pull the sheet off your blog in the post-election days but I’ve got a fresh pot of good coffee, the snow is drifting down over the East Channel outside the window, and I have a it of time to devote before I take Chico for a long walk. You seen, much like you visit me for fresh air, I come here for fair accurate analysis and a great set of comments with every post. I hope you’re taking a break now and then from policing the dems to use that new Alpha. Keep up the great work! Steve

  15. Oh, btw, on a happy note it looks like Stevens will lose his seat in the Senate, the absentee voting is favoring Begich. That will prevent the inevitable Bush pardon that would allow him to stay for another 6 years – Uncle Ted’s days are done . . . .

  16. Hi,

Visiting socialist here. I just wanted to say, please, please please nominate Palin in 2012. I’ll even donate to the cause.
