Powell: Not So Much

Colin Powell came out this past weekend in support of Barack Hussein Obama.

If, perhaps, we had both those men hold their wrists up to the light, would their melanin count match?

I suspect it would. But — of course — that’s not my point so much.

Is this the “startling revelation” made by the DEM/MSM?

But wait; hold for a moment. Why is it that the current Bush Administration happens to have appointed more so-called “minorities” to cabinet and other posts than any other presidential administration in history?

Oh, wait, yes, that’s true. Demorats like minorities only insofar as they can hold to the Proscribum Demoratus.

Colin Powell endorsing Barack Hussein Obama? Unanticipated? A shocker? Perhaps a wrist comparison?

How about, now, an endorsement of John McCain by Joe Liebermann and Zell Miller?

Wrist comparisons, anyone?

  1. I used to have a great deal of respect for Colin Powell, but that was then and now is now. He is just another racist. He comes up with a flimsy excuse to try to hide it, but I know it is ONLY because NOBAMA’s skin color matches his own!

  2. Imagine how an Obama supporter must go through extreme mental twists to support a man who they vilified as a war monger for his role in support of OIF and now point to him as some angel that will convince the Right on Obama?

Hey, if you detested the way he looked at the world *then* why should you trust him *now*?

I have my problems with Gen. Powell since the insane ‘Powell Doctrine’ which has now been discredited as it cannot be used as a thick coating for military operations: in Iraq we never had overwhelming numbers, and in Afghanistan the type of fighting dictates small, dedicated and climate acclimated forces.

    Powell Doctrine?

    Asinine and far too generalized.

As Sec. State he did his job, and actually would undercut his message a few times.

I honor the man his service, as I do Sen. McCain. I can compare his operational ‘doctrine’ with history and see it is ill-founded and criticize it as such. And when he took to undercut some of the themes the Administration put forth, then he was not doing his job.

Plus, once Obama’s people put the Senator’s criticism of Powell down the ‘memory hole’ it must have signalled that they were ready to let him ‘off the plantation’ as some of the D party had put it back in 2006. Funny about how he forgets those remarks, and worse, by Democrats.

Yeah, I have problems with his viewpoints and his character after he left the military. Just like I do with McCain? Point being? Stop telling me about someone’s service and start examining their damned RECORD when they take the National stage after it and see if you actually can figure it out. I’ve had it with the McCainiacs who keep on pointing to his service and time as POW as the great wash that demonstrates everything. It doesn’t with him, nor with Murtha, nor with Powell… when you take the National stage and start putting forth your ideas, then it is your ideas that get examined and how you are putting them forward that matters…. to see if you mean them or not. Because that is the measure that you now put yourself up to: Do as you Say, Say what you Mean, Mean what you do.

Military service is deeply honorable. A deeply important job that must be done. What you do after that is no longer covered by your time in service to the Nation’s military. I wish guys like Gen. Wesley Clark would have just done his job and not seek the freaking limelight when he was IN the military as it is corrosive to the profession of arms. I admire Sen. McCain’s fortitude in the face of a horrific enemy that disobeyed the rules of war. I have deep questions on Gen. Powell’s grasp of military history vice his doctrine… and guys like Murtha and Clark I still honor for their time, but find them detestable in their demeanor towards the public after it.

That, to me, is damned fair and the best way to judge those seeking high office: what you have done is important, what you espouse very importand and if you mean to implement those things critical. That is a prioritized list, from least to most in my book. Where you come from is important, where you want to head is survival level important and critical.

I judge not by the color of the skin but the content of the character… forgive me if I find people of different skin colors lacking in similar things. I’m just following the path of MLK and Lincoln. Seems like a good one to me.

  3. I found a great comment over at Flopping aces and posted it on my blog. They analyzed Powell’s comments on Meet the press. It is obvious he didn’t back Obama because of substance or because of the fact that Obama has great skill or leadership abilities. All you have to do is analyze what he said and the truth is revealed.

  4. I was not surprised. Colon Powell has always swung left. He does not represent the voice of reason on the right or blacks!

This is completely a tactical move my the left to continue to draw the minority vote because they know that Obama could lose.

I think you guys are wrong. I don’t think Powell is racist at all. He didn’t support Jessie Jackson in 1984 did he? No! He has always been a moderate and if you read his autobiography you could see that he was liberal leaning in a few areas despite his military service. Besides that he served three Presidents and did a good job, imho under difficult circumstances. Why do you think he supported Obama just because he was Black? Maybe he agrees with his stances.

Is it realistic to say that whites support McCain and Palin because they are white? No, that doesn’t make any sense. I just accept Powell’s endorsement as showing his ideology. For a long time, his true politics have been somewhat of a mystery. Now you know what he believes in.

I am saddened that these conclusions are drawn about him given his service to our country. It is clear that he is not a racist, but just may disagree with you. I have said that I will not vote for Obama because of his belief in big government and his pro abortion stances. McCain has also shown that he likes big government too. I cannot abide either candidate. Bob Barr is more of an ideological match so I will vote for him. My vote doesn’t mean I am a self hating house nigga anymore than Powell’s endorsement means he is racist, imho.
