Jury Awards Father $2.9 Million in Funeral Protesters Case

BALTIMORE (AP) — A federal jury on Wednesday awarded the father of a fallen Marine $2.9 million in compensatory damages after finding a fundamentalist Kansas church and three of its leaders liable for invasion of privacy and intent to inflict emotional distress for picketing the Marine’s funeral in 2006.

Albert Snyder of York, Pa., sued the Westboro Baptist Church for unspecified monetary damages after members staged a demonstration at the March 2006 funeral of his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, who was killed in Iraq.

Church members routinely picket funerals of military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, carrying signs such as “Thank God for dead soldiers” and “God hates fags.”

I had posted prior about Phelps and his Westoboro Baptist Church, when radio talk show host Mike Gallagher offered to trade air time to Shirley Phelps-Roper in exchange for her agreement to keep the WBC protestors from the funerals of the five Amish girls executed in their Pennsylvania school back in October of 2006.

In my opinion I still, to this date, cannot think of the requisite words for Phelps, his congregation (consisting primarily of his inbred and brain-damaged relatives and their dolorous and genetic-mutant children) and family. When I think of Phelps, I immediately conjure up the classic line from “The Exorcist“: “Your mother sucks cocks in Hell.” Now apply that to FP and the WBC.

This connate and incestuous conglomeration of about 75 members will end up sucking anonymous cocks in order to pay the demanded settlement — both female and male.

There is little or nothing of which I can think that equals the base bastards and bitches constituting the WBC. Except perhaps child molesters and kitten burners.

  1. sick bastards, I hope an avalanche of judgments come their way. this abuse of the freedom of speech we enjoy is about as repugnant as it gets. and to say these so-called Christians are deeply offensive to myself and nearly all other Christians is an understatement. that “pastor” teaching those kids to hate so with a big smile on their face makes me want to puke. it makes those Palestinian parents who put little suicide bomber costumes on their little kids almost look sweet and caring eh?

  4. Let’s hope, and pray, that this sends a resounding message to all those who use the 1st Amendment to spew their hatred of America and our Troops. Hitting them in the pocketbook is where it will count the most.

    After watching Phelps on CNN last evening, I was stunned that he was even given that amount of air time.

  13. I was extremely happy to hear this news too, BZ. I think that hurting them in their pocketbook might make an impression. I don’t know how much money Phelps has, but it should be possible to break his bankroll, even if unfortunately we can’t break his back!

  14. These people are disgusting and I am glad they are going to have to pay their due. At least, hopefully, this will bankrupt them and we will never hear from these despicable people again.

  15. hopefully the judgment will stick on appeal and phelps and his little gobshite daughter shirley will have charges placed against the title to their homes. Oh how we would all laugh if the court then awarded the chargee with the power of sale and those idiots made homeless.

    and who says lawyers are all bad.
