Spanking Your Child: A Felony

In Corpus Christi, Texas, it’s a felony to spank your child and leave red marks:

Rosalina Gonzales had pleaded guilty to a felony charge of injury to a child for what prosecutors had described as a “pretty simple, straightforward spanking case.” They noted she didn’t use a belt or leave any bruises, just some red marks.

“You don’t spank children today,” said Judge Jose Longoria. “In the old days, maybe we got spanked, but there was a different quarrel. You don’t spank children.”

Rosalina Gonzales had pleaded guilty to a felony charge of injury to a child for what prosecutors had described as a “pretty simple, straightforward spanking case.” They noted she didn’t use a belt or leave any bruises, just some red marks.

As part of the plea deal, Gonzales will serve five years probation, during which time she’ll have to take parenting classes, follow CPS guidelines, and make a $50 payment to the Children’s Advocacy Center.

She was arrested back in December after the child’s paternal grandmother noticed red marks on the child’s rear end. The grandmother took the girl, who was two years-old at the time, to the hospital to be checked out.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: am I ever glad I never had children, much less had to raise them in this current Leftist environment.
Spanking your child is now a felony.
So in lieu of that, one applies what, pray tell? Sarcasm?
And note, if you will, it’s not sufficient that the mother be placed on probation; she needs mental governmental reprogramming as well. Coming soon to a local court near you, if it isn’t already present.
In the meantime, we need to let more druggies, pedophiles, armed robbers, gangbangers and murderers out of our prisons because, after all, I’m sure that spanking placed them right where they are and conditions are bad in prisons.
So remember: if a child is crying, a parent needs to be jailed.

  1. There may be more to the story. The grandmother has custody. Why?
    That said, the rest of your points are valid.

    I spanked my kids. As tweeners, they threatened to call Child Protective Services. Told them to call; see how they liked foster care. Took them to see a home where the people made their living keeping foster kids. That opened their eyes.

    My sister’s approach with her daughter was to tell her once she turned eighteen and was an adult, my sister would beat the shit out of her, jail be damned. My niece knew she wasn’t bluffing.

  2. It’s another example that the world has gone insane.

    My mom used the cord to an electric hand mixer, folded in half. It wouldn’t break the skin but it sure the dickens stung! One swat and then all she had to say was ‘Do I need to get the cord?’ and we would’ve done anything.

    God help us all.

  4. My mother used to give me a pruning clipper and tell me to cut one of the limbs out of the lilac hedge around our house. When I did, she used it on me. After one or two episodes, all she had to do was look directly at the pruning shears and I was good as gold. (She probably would be jailed today, and I would have grown up to be a monster.)

  5. I spanked our two kids when they really needed a spanking. In reality, our kids who are now 15 and 19 only got spanked maybe five times each when they were very young and their behavior needed to change and nothing else worked.

    Our kids KNEW we meant business and if we threatened a spanking, they got it. Both are now well adjusted,young adults and growing more conservative each month 🙂

    They both have told us that they remember each spanking they got and now know that it was as hard on us to carry out as it was for them to get whupped.

    I would do it all the same again and screw the PC morons who think they know what is best fo0 all of
    our kids.

  7. I posted this a few days ago, glad to see someone else picked up this story.

    There is absolutely nothing wrong with spanking your child as long as it is not in excess, or causes the child injury.

    I remember being spanked with the fly swatter, OW!! Believe me, all my mom had to do is give the “look” and I stopped whatever it was I was doing.

    It’s about teaching kids respect for themselves and others. Discipline teaches self-control and there are consequences when bad choices are made.
