Florida sheriff: “We want people to call us if the guy down the street says he hates the government”

From the PalmBeachPost:

Florida House and Senate budget leaders have awarded Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw $1 million for a new violence prevention unit aimed at preventing tragedies like those in Newtown, Conn., and Aurora, Colo., from occurring on his turf.

Bradshaw is readying a hotline and is planning public service announcements to encourage local citizens to report their neighbors, friends or family members if they fear they could harm themselves or others.

“We want people to call us if the guy down the street says he hates the government, hates the mayor and he’s gonna shoot him,” Bradshaw said. “What does it hurt to have somebody knock on a door and ask, ‘Hey, is everything OK?’ ”

Now, do the Logical Extension on this one.  .  .

  1. You have to keep in mind, that is the came county that gave you the bulging and hanging chads!

It’s a liberal hub in that section of Florida. That’s the problem with living in a mostly conservative thinking states. The loons from the north and the west like to bring their thoughts with them. And then, try to change where they moved to, into what they moved from!! ya can’t win sometimes!

        • Colorado used to be a wilderness/independent citizen state. Now it’s Crunchy Granola Leftist. Am I incorrect?

          • Depends on the area. Along I-25, Fort Collins to Castle Rock is Liberal infested. Adding a few big money mountain resort areas (Aspen, Vail, Pagosa Springs, Steamboat Springs) plus old school Democrat mining/industrial cities (Pueblo) and the Hispanic votes gives the Dems an edge. All us old blue dogs have been neutered. The old state values live on in the Eastern and far Western counties.

  2. I’m living in a postCommunist country and visited here several times back in the 70’s when it was under the thumb of Moscow. Unless you were in the home of family, you watched what you did, what you said and who you said it to. I remember there was a limit as to how many could ride in a car (4) so one of the cousins had to hide on the floor in back so no one would report him. Foreign mail was checked. People knew they had to be careful. Every village had an ‘education’ center where propaganda was ‘taught’ on a regular basis.
But didn’t the fearless leader have just something similar last year or before where people were encouraged to email a website if they knew of someone who had ‘erroneous’ info about obama so that they could be then given the ‘correct’ info?
Sheesh. first the guns, then report on your neighbor. What’s next. Reeducation centers?

  3. This “sheriff” bears a remarkable resemblance to Harry Reid in a way that makes me concerned for the well being of children in Palm Beach. His fascist tendencies have been noted throughout the blogosphere and his toady will sue when parody strikes home.

The last time I was in West Palm Beach I was shocked by the complete lack of concern drug dealers exhibited while observed during transactions. It was apparent that there was no fear of arrest. Bradshaw was the Chief of Police there then. Go figure. Incompetence and corruption rewarded, empowered, and emboldened.
