The message is being emphasized early:
Senator Robert (Bob) Bennett, Utah Republican was denied re-nomination Saturday after serving three terms in office, and the Utah Tea Party has been credited with pushing him out. Bennett voted for the bank bailout and that vote (among others) had Utah’s Tea Party and many Utah Republicans up in arms.
Bennett, 76, failed to make it to Utah’s GOP primary or win his party’s nomination. He is the first congressional incumbent to be tossed out in 2010.
The DNC, therefore, thinks the TEA Party now runs the GOP zoo because Mr Bennett was so extremely conservative:
Today the Tea Party strengthened its hold on the Republican Party by ousting Utah’s Senator Bob Bennett from the primary. That the Tea Party would consider Bob Bennett – one of the most conservative members of the U.S. Senate – too liberal, just goes to show how extreme the Tea Party is. This is just the latest battle in the corrosive Republican intra-party civil war that has resulted in the Tea Party devouring two Republicans in just as many weeks. If there was any question before, there should now be no doubt that the Republican leadership has handed the reigns to the Tea Party.”
Bennett himself said:
The political atmosphere obviously has been toxic and it’s very clear that some of the votes that I have cast have added to the toxic environment.”
“Looking back on them, with one or two very minor exceptions, I wouldn’t have cast any of them any differently even if I had known at the time they were going to cost me my career.”
“Don’t take a chance on a newcomer,” Bennett pleaded before the second round of voting. “There’s too much at stake.”
Many are trying to push the “incumbent” theory: voters simply want all incumbents out.
I say: it’s just a wee bit more complicated than that.
Good riddance to Mr Bennett, your RINO days are now concluded. Go away.

I hate to say this BZ, Hope and Change is a’ commin’. Change does fell good. We just want the right men for the job. Tea party or not. Funny how when their jobs are at stake they tend to be a little more honest about their voting record. Maybe Nobama was right, Hope and Change is here! One by one they will be voted out. Washington better wake up soon and start leading our country down the right path. I like the idea of Obama being unemployed. It makes me smile.
The tea party is doing what it’s supposed to do. Vote for candidates that exhibit the values that this country was founded on. An Incumbent that didn’t abandon those values has nothing to worry about, those that sold out their souls and their constituents should be shaking in their loafers.
That brings me to Sarah Palin….Nuff said.
In my opinion, the Tea Party movement began with the loss by McCain, although the movement wasn’t named “Tea Party”, we all felt that a RINO did not deserve our vote and did not like the GOP taking our vote for granted. If they don’t take the Tea Party seriously, the GOP will keep losing.
The GOP needs to purge all RINO’s. Indeed, it was the RINO mentality and platforms which resulted in the 2008 debacle.
And the interesting thing is, the DEM/MSM, DNC and Demorats predominantly think that those who believe in the Constitution, the rule of law, the security of our borders, responsibility, accountability, family, less government, WAY less spending BY government — that WE are the lunatic fringe. They believe that WE spit on a Congressman, that WE called a black Congressman a nigger, though there is NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER of that occurring, or Breitbart would have acquired takers for his $100,000 challenge.
Do Conservatives riot? Let’s see, the only recent riots in memory have been — oh, right, I remember now — by ILLEGAL MEXICANS who want their Free Cheese or the LEFT.
Beth, you’re correct, with one addition I’ll toss out there: BUSH was the actual, earlier impetus.

Bennett remarked he didn.t think his votes would cost him his coreer. It.s not supposed to be a career. Duh!!!!
I just listened to Bennett on TV explaining why he lost.
He said he would not of changed his votes, even if it ended his “career”.
Well, what a deluded bastard! He said “career”. He believed representing his constituents WAS A CAREER!!!
That’s the problem with politicians these days.
They think they will have a job for life, no matter how they vote.. They think they are a “government employee”, and can retire on benefits after 30 years!
Well, Mr Bennett found out,and a warning to other politicians, that they better OBEY the wishes of their constituents who elected them, or out they go!!
Now is the time for all incumbents to take a good and honest look at their record and ask “Do I deserve to be re-elected?” Many do deserve it but most do not. RINOs need to be defeated in the primaries, not the General Election.
Indeed Bush was the impetus, but he won his elections. I pointed to McCain because those of us who didn’t like what Bush did, we did not want more of the same with McCain. And we will continue to withhold our support for any politician, even with an “R” after his or her name, who believe in an over-reaching government, and favor any politician who wants to preserve the intent of our country’s founding.
Beth, I concur; my point was: Bush set the recent precedent by seldom vetoing ANYthing and ALways signing off on massive and bloated budgets. Then there were the port, his SCOTUS pick, the borders. . .
The GOP thought: hey, if OUR president is doing it, it must be acceptable. . .
Wrong.

It’s very simple, NO MORE RINOs…
So simple, even a caveman can understand it…
“Don’t take a chance on a newcomer,” Bennett pleaded before the second round of voting. “There’s too much at stake.”
Um… NO that is EXACTLY what we want. You and your ilk have done enough damage… sigh…
Eye catching post and pic. 🙂 Z..They chucked his a** so the RHINO’s are gonna charge and probably join the liberals in trying to discredit we Tea Party supporters as dumb as they are.
They best not misunderestimate us…. 😉
Chicago Ray: “someone else” was misunderestimated once also, I believe. . .

Study Bennet’s long term record. I am not sure I wouldn’t have voted against him because I am seventy six, as is he, and I am not sure his brain is much better than mine at that age. It is, however a damn dumb thing to say that anyone with his long term record is a RINO, and the thing that might have got me to vote for him is that Utah has been setting up for a Democrat and this may a Demo in the job.
WHERE THE HECK DID YOU FIND THAT PICTURE?!
(heh heh heh heh)
BZ
3S10: Bennett voted for TARP and subsequent bailouts. Bennett had “gold standard” credentials with MSM and persons who thought similarly to, say, Tom Brokaw. That is simply not viable. ANY further federal spending is UNsustainable. On my ballot, anyone who advocates ANY further spending will not receive my vote no matter their party.
It’s time to weed out those who seek to continue unsustainable and devastating spending.

Three Score and Ten or more
Don’t underestimate your wisdom; seventy-six gives you some license to comment. I appauld enthusiasm but people need to be, act, and react smarter than they appear to be. My opinion.
3S10: also, Mr Bennett voted for ObakaKare and, in my book, that’s the ultimate Deal Killer.
He needed to go.
