A Point To Ponder

Right now it’s late Sunday as I write this post, about 40-degrees outside, and the sun is casting some beautiful and final afternoon rays around the deep yellow and green leaves from the deciduous trees, interspersed with the many pines and firs on my property. I’ve been scouting about on the internet hither and yon, visiting sites, discovering new places to see and, in the interim, have commenced to pondering about many aspects of our world, our nation. I’m in a contemplative mind.

Have you ever wondered how things got to be the way they are now, perhaps in a more global, more overarching fashion?

I think it distills down to one fundamental difference between two very separate strata of society, and that is this:

It is my considered opinion that not nearly enough politicians, judges and policy-makers lose their jobs with little or no backup in place; suffer the consequences for poor decisions; treat money with which they are entrusted like it’s their own; are beaten; robbed; stabbed; shot; had their checking and savings accounts emptied; are gang raped; are sodomized; have had immediate loved ones injured or killed by criminals; have had to wonder how they’ll meet next month’s bills; are depersonalized by the criminal justice system; are forced to buy an actual used car as an adult; are left naked and bleeding from their anus in a wet alley at night by a person they can identify later.

The more that power brokers, politicians, judges, have the luxury of making their decisions in a vacuum, the more society at large suffers. It removes the personal aspect of “bad.”

And trust me, as all us common folks know: “bad” is very personal.

Your thoughts?

  1. Well dear friend my thought is this:

I killed The Hill Chronicles. I am not writing anymore on this damn Obamanation. I am going to write on spiritual and moral issues. My new blog is on wordpress too.

    The Moral Compass

I rid myself of the old crap and going for change. I always said change is the only constant.

As I have told everyone – If my freedom of speech will get me killed or jailed it will not be over politics, but for my Lord Jesus Christ.

So let the freaking Obamanation BRING IT ON BABY!

  2. Liz, I’m so very sorry to read that you killed that blog. It was professional, a beauty to behold, and addressed (at least) MY interest: POLITICS.

So tell me: will politics enter into your blog or are you going for even great, broader issues, never to address that again, pray tell?

  3. TF: as you likely realize, Barney Frank is one of THE primary reasons this nation is at its precipice of doom. SUB-PRIME LOANS. Loans that were MANDATED by liberal DEMORATS.

    MANDATED.

So WHO is to blame for everything surrounding our economy now?

Why yes, sir, that would be BARNEY.

  4. BZ, thanks. You are the only one making me “almost” feel sorry I killed my blog. But not for me, for you! LOL! 🙂

I may put in a little politics from time to time – of course, sometimes God and politics go together, as they should.

But I will focus on other issues. Abortion, homosexuality, Islam, et al. So yes, some politics.

But this site will be just as professional, but I will be a tad more engaging in that I want to comment more and interact more with my readers.

Gosh, I am still here, and you know no matter what I write I on I am still going to kick butt!! 🙂

And yes, please add me to your blogroll.

In fact, please broadcast my new site and see how this takes off! So far everyone is loving it!

You’ll come around…I promise, a little politics for good measure – But NObamanation can still kiss my you know what! UGH!

And yes, it was politics and the Obama win that drove me to the end of myself. But that is good. I would rather focus on what I can change, what I cannot.

  5. The voters need to take more responsibility for there vote. The reason the politicians and power players get away with it is because we allow them to by voting them into office and buying there products. The people need to take ownership of there country by voting and buying responsibly.

  6. There are not enough politicians.

That *is* the problem, at least at the Federal level. The House was given to set its own size by law, and that has ill served the US since 1911. Consider that the idea of representative democracy is to *know* your local representative. You cannot claim that at 1 per 550,000. A huge House is not impossible to run – there are many corporations with far more people making decisions and working together day by day. That is a lie. It is an excuse to deprive you of representation.

If you want politicians to know about daily lives, they must be drawn from a diverse sample of the people, not limited as it currently is. The answer to problems in representative democracy is *more* representation, not *less*. The latter leads to elitism, authoritarianism and finally distancing our say in government from government. Term limits will not do this as crony-based systems will create cliques to fill seats perpetually. Term limits is an answer in search of a question and a simplistic answer, at that. The simple, direct answer is more representation. That brings in more background, more experience and a deeper connection to the people. Everyone wanting less representation is saying they don’t want representative democracy.

I think there is more than enough money in politics, if we had a House of 10,000 members or so. Whatever the ‘awful amount’ in politics, when divided amongst so many that amount becomes something the average citizen can understand. Being a Representative is no longer a sinecure, but a *job*. I would prefer a maximum House and the most amount of democracy America can handle which is *way* more than we have now.

If our Founders were here today, they would incite a revolution against our corrupt system that is unrepresentative, distant and destroying our society and culture.

Conservatives refuse to counter-attack, which is surrender at every liberal advance to secure more power in fewer hands. Thanks, but no, I am no conservative. And may I suggest that conservatives finally ask themselves why standing athwart history yelling ‘stop’ while a steamroller goes over them is in any way noble or smart?

If you agree with our founders, then support a vigorous democracy and push in all you say and do to get more of it. Any who dare oppose can be called out and told they are backing more powers into fewer and more corrupt hands as that is the direction it has gone in since 1911. That is failing America. Trust not in government. It is the repository of our negative liberties to protect us, and can only do ill by trying to do ‘good’. Representative democracy is inefficient, slow, sluggish and prone to long arguments… it is not efficient. Government by such a system must be given little to do because of those two things *alone*. That means you cannot be pragmatic or ‘realistic’, but idealistic about democracy and decry those who would barter it away to be ‘efficient’.

But that is what I have always stood for and continue to stand for. They dare not start that fight… but ask for collusion by those who want expediency over doing the right thing. To hell with that. Counter-attack for we are at the point where government’s ills are becomming unsufferable… and there is only one solution to that. Fight to roll back now, when it can be done cleanly… or regret it when it cannot be done so well.
