A reminder from Milton Friedman: Capitalism vs Socialism

“I don’t even trust you to do that.”

Brilliant.

“I’m in favor of reducing taxes under any circumstances, under any excuse, with any reason whatsoever, because that’s the only way you’re ever going to get effective control of government spending.  If you don’t reduce taxes to get rid of that surplus, it’s going to be spent.  The rule for hundreds of years is that governments will spend whatever the tax system will raise, plus as much more as they can get away with.”

  1. Look at the way the question was posed by the guy giving the interview, a totally Leftist slant. This is how the Left sees the world.

Totally agreed that government will spend all & more than it gets in tax revenue. The Democrats are the worst in this regard but the Republicans, for all their rhetoric, aren’t much better.

  2. Friedman makes a valid point. Sometimes economics is as simple as: “you can’t spend more than you make or you’ll go broke.”
