  1. Poor sandy. Most Skyraiders ended up like this one. Shot up and crash landed, shot up and wrote off, or wore out and retired. The best Jabo since the P-47 and not outdone until the A-10 came along.

  2. As a metaphor, any wrecked airplane picture would do. Maybe a picture of a Air America c123 or a crashed Huey would do the job a little better. As for the radio network Air America – they got what they wanted and the public pretty much ignored what they had to offer.

  3. Capt: hmmm, good point.

Toaster: I remember the A-1H, but mostly I remember the A1-E slab. But the A-10s are most coolio.

Shanksow: thanks for visiting and thanks for taking the time to comment. And yet, had I been thinking, I should have used a C-123 or maybe a C-47.

  4. Conservative radio Vs. Liberal radio:
Lipstick on a pig, Vs. Lipstick on an Alaskan Hockey Mom.

It wasn’t entertaining. In fact, it was painfully bad.
    Remember “Bad Theater” on SNL?
Maybe one day they’ll revisit and share some of Air America’s efforts on there?

  5. Rest in Pieces.

“It is to me a new and consolatory proof that wherever the people are well-informed they can be trusted with their own government; that whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied on to set them to rights.” —Thomas Jefferson

  6. AA failed because the left really don’t need to be scremed at with lies hate and fear like the right does. Their advertisers were thin. Big corporations advertise on right wing radio to keep their interests viable. You won’t you’d hear a commercial for Exxon or AIG on AA.

You guys are bought and sold by corporate America who doesn’t give a shit about you. And you buy it hook, line and sinker.

  7. The old WWII line “coming in on a wing and a prayer” didn’t work well for Air America who was trying “a wing and a lie”. American just didn’t buy what they were selling–simple as that. Obama still hasn’t figured that out!

  8. Oh, you POOR THING…you don’t have Ducky here trying to convince your readers that Air America’s closing means nothing and how strong leftwing talk show hosts really ARE!! See what you missed? 🙂

  9. This is the difference between ‘free as in speech’ and ‘free as in beer’.

No one needs to pay for free speech.

Someone has to pay for free beer.

The beer wasn’t worth the price of it… and that says sommething about the beer, and the speech.
