A new report from the U.S. Army War College discusses the use of American troops to quell civil unrest brought about by a worsening economic crisis.
The report from the War College’s Strategic Studies Institute warns that the U.S. military must prepare for a “violent, strategic dislocation inside the United States” that could be provoked by “unforeseen economic collapse” or “loss of functioning political and legal order.”
Entitled “Known Unknowns: Unconventional ‘Strategic Shocks’ in Defense Strategy Development,” the report was produced by Nathan Freier, a recently retired Army lieutenant colonel who is a professor at the college — the Army’s main training institute for prospective senior officers.
He writes: “To the extent events like this involve organized violence against local, state, and national authorities and exceed the capacity of the former two to restore public order and protect vulnerable populations, DoD [Department of Defense] would be required to fill the gap.”
Freier continues: “Widespread civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order … An American government and defense establishment lulled into complacency by a long-secure domestic order would be forced to rapidly divest some or most external security commitments in order to address rapidly expanding human insecurity at home.”

Hmmmm. now why would this topic sound familiar…. Oh yeah, I played choir boy to your sermon a while back. I’m fairly sure that it will happen. As a matter of fact, looking at the state of the union, I’d say it’s become unavoidable.
Only question I have is what will set it off? Will it be the economy? Or will it be set off by someone attempting/succeeding at an assassination of the good president elect. To me it’s 6 of one and half a dozen of the other, except that if it gets kicked off by obama dying of other than natural causes, then it’s gonna be a lot worse. Then we talk about race war like the neo-nazi groups pray for.
If it’s just economy, we got burning and looting, blah blah blah. It’ll be confined to large cities and most of the heartland will just sit back and shake our heads.
If it’s assassination, then no one escapes. Everyone fights and a LOT of people die.
Well, that’s my two cents worth. Nice to know the Army War College agrees with my assessment.
P.S. wish I weren’t right so damned often, though. Nice find on that article. So what do you think? We tanking as hard as I’ve said? In your opinion, is it all circling the drain? Just curious.

Hey, I’ve been pointing out we need a COIN plan for the SW and northern Mexico for… at least 9 or 10 months and probably longer. If you think insurrections in cities is bad, just wait until you add in drug cartels, Mexican Mafia and various other foreign actors… fun will *not* be had.
Oh hell yeah, it’s gonna be a barrel of monkeys down there. At least we can shoot them and no one is likely to notice, what with the mass riots that will be taking place in the cities. I expect the Minutemen will not be quite so pasific come that day. If I lived down there, I wouldn’t.

A race war would be nothing compared to civil war, there is racial mixing there is sympathy for all races by other races so I don’t believe a race war is going to happen. HOWEVER; Civil war, the war to take back our government and rights might actually be worse, and cause much more damage.
