No worries BZ! i’m sure McCain will pull the GOP out of it’s funk, right? after all, that’s why he won the primary, he’s the best and the brightest us republicans have to offer!
Heavy sigh.

It may be a while but the Donks have already planted the seeds of their own political destruction. Don’t give up yet.
We need to start with getting conservatives into Congress and then go for the presidency. In the mean time we’ll take the president who will do the least damage.
We have no other choice at this point.
I’d really like to be optimistic shoprat, but what has the Republicans got to offer their base? less than the dem’s do. Are they more mature? more fiscally responsible? more concerned with illegal immigration? concerned with the losses of liberty? do they push less earmarks thru? will they stand up to that dicator’s good ‘ol boys club, the UN? where, really, do the republicans differ from the DEm’s nowadays? who tries to sneak amnesty for illegals by us all the fucking time? even when they know the majority don’t want it?
Circular firing squad time!
Gotta love a few members in the House trying to put together a ‘Conservative Agenda’! Yessireebob! Loooovve that National Leadership thing…
There *are* National Leaders left at the GOP, right? Or do those disconnected phones mean something more than ‘we po’d our base to the point of not getting any money in via phone banks’?
Members of the GOP have main stream Conservative values. When a President commits there troops to war they want to win that war, something George W. Bush has not nor will do. When our country is attacked they want a President that will bring the attackers to their knees, something George W. Bush has not nor will do. They want a President that will attack and kill their enemies, something George W. Bush has not nor will do, in fact our enemies have grown and become even stronger under his leadership. They want their borders protected against outside invaders, something George W. Bush has not nor will do. You can go on and on and on, he has been a complete and utter failure time and time again.
When the mainstream GOP members see day after day members of their party defending and supporting a President that has done so much damage and frankly hasn’t really done a damn thing to make their country better they start to look at alternatives.
Yes George W. Bush and his administration have destroyed the GOP, except for the 10% to 18% Bush-Bots that still defend such a fool.
I now read that the GOP will lose around 20 seats in the next election yet there are those that still feel Bush is God. Well, he’s not God. He’s a loser that has never succeeded in anything he has every done, ever.
The GOP is about to go away and I say great, take that 10% to 18% with you and turn the lights out on your way out.
It’s time for a true Conservative Party and it has NO ROOM for any Bush-Bot, fuck-em.
Ya know, I’m almost speechless, Ranando made the most truthful post concerning the death of the GOP that I have seen in a long long time…
Ranando, you DO know that there are a couple of hard-core Bush Bots that still hang out here don’t you??
They are gonna talk bad about you, write all kinds of nasty little things in the blogs too, probably send emails to everyone they know telling them that you’re an asshole and have denigrated the Lord Bush…
You asked for it man, you dared to speak the truth concerning The Bush, the wrath of the Fairy Godmother of all things queer and childish shall reign fire upon you and your seed…
Sorry man, I couldn’t resist… 🙂
Ranando and Fred,
I find myself disagreeing with you two about Bush much of the time because I see Bush as a symptom of a bigger problem, and frankly this past primary outcome looks to me like it proves my point. you say it’s Bush who destroyed the GOP? if that were the case would the GOP have not rallied behind a different platform? jeez guys, look at who the GOP put up as our candidate!!! a guy quite similar to Bush only even more liberal, and less stable! You two act like Bush is the exception and not the Rule, where is your proof of that? Anybody who HAD a platform and a cause was dropped like a hot potato early on in the primary! What few republicans there are left who actually stand by conservative principles are mocked and ridiculed at the GOP, you cannot consider this party conservative anymore, not by a long shot. you can’t consider it libertarian either, more like liberal globalist lite.
I like A Jacksonian’s idea, culling the party leadership sounds like a good idea, if someone will stand up and put up a platform of major reform, and pulling this country back to a constitutional republic, I’ll gladly support him. I don’t see it happening anytime soon.
Folks, I used to think that the GOP could, somehow, be resurrected. I am moving to the point where I am actually considering that its time for a third party. Sure, its easy to advocate for an immediate third party, sure, go for it. But I’ve always hesitated because it could potentially Perot the entire country — again.
I’m actually beginning to consider the idea.

There are a few House Republicans trying to organize a conservative platform that they will push and stick to… not a ‘contract this’ or ‘agenda that’: those failed.
A platform is a policy outlook combined with how you go about implementing it… to me at least. You craft bills from your policy – if you are trying to make policy out of bills, you are in CF territory and deserve what you get. I looked at that with a previous president, so as to trace out policy goals that were part of a platform, and then the actual acts to carry out those goals during his term. In being able to clearly say ‘this is what can be done with this office and this is the basis for how I will make my decisions’ the rest of the country (for good or ill) knew how that individual was going to act in an overall way and see if those actions held to those broader goals.
Today, as those in the various branches try to intrude on each other’s powers, just stating clearly what federalism *is* might be a good start. That I can’t even call ‘conservative’ so much as ‘hey, this is the way it works!’. I doubt, however, in this grab-bag era of ‘programs’ and such that we will ever see that again…
Ye old “Bush Bot” here! LOL! I would like to know why anyone would feel compelled to call me a Bush Bot? I’m angry about our borders and Bush has completely ignored them up to now! It’s infuriating that he calls people “vigilantes” who are trying to protect our border. Aren’t American citizens supposed to be vigilant, which is the root of the word “vigilante?” What does he want, for us to all be asleep? He should be grateful for those Americans who have volunteered to report illegals crossing our borders.
You may not believe this, BZ, but I’m also beginning to think a third party would be a good idea. The Republican Party has to go liberal in order to win the White House? And even as liberal as McCain is on many issues, the Dems could still win.
I’ll vote for McCain because the alternative would be a total disaster, but I don’t have to like it. If we withhold our votes what is that going to accomplish? Obama or Hillary in the Oval Office? Ugh! At least McCain will keep the country safe, or try to, which will give us time to focus on the social issues. If the Dems take over, what then? Scary!
